Yes im afraid shows like this wouldnt really work today. There are sooooo many channels on youtube and their ilk where people can watch previews of the latest games, E3 live, etc etc. There were none of those facilities and the most got to see of new games were monthly paper magazines. Sad really that shows like this,gamesmaster,gamesworld etc etc have been resigned to nostalgic repeats.

@ace170874 I think a bigger problem is that these shows were essentially aimed at children/teenagers.

Computer games have a bad rep and take the brunt of the blame for obesity levels.

I don't think any channels would be ballsy enough to make a computer games programme now.

Its dam shame brilliant game shows like Bad Influence and Games Master are not on anymore. These shows were aired on main station UK channels at prime times but these days there is just utter crap on main station channels, I just gave up on it with its obsession with reality TV shows. Bring these shows back! There has never been a better time to showcase this now acceptable mainstream market multi-billion dollar industry. I'm glad I can now watch these shows on the net!

@DMacca4 there was talk of bringing gamesmaster back last year, but we're still waiting. if you need a gamesmaster fix, however, just buy the magazine that appeared after the show went on air

Its got the tell tale 'beginning of the worn out tape jitters'. I always used to record blank for a couple of mins to avoid this.Seems like some problems with sp and lp speed too. very nostalgic. Thanks for all these uploads

Thats VHS tapes for you. It was lucky I managed to capture them onto my PC when i did (back in 2000 i think) as the tapes would be dead by now, im sure!!

This only happens mainly on the first episode and a couple others. 98% of the other episodes are pretty decent.

This was recorded from a VHS tape from over 15 years ago. No wonder some parts of the tape are damaged.

In the whole of four series though, there really are only a couple issues with issues, this being one of them.

I guess so, but im glad in a way. I used to find some of the stuff they covered quite interesting - especially the animation/art programs (as I was into animation on the amiga at the time) although some of the stuff like dress designs (!?!) were not that great.

VR was just the big thing back in those days. It was in the news, videogames etc it was quite an exciting time but unfourtunatly it just all came too early when the tech wasn't ready and strangely enough everyone seems to have forgot about it.

I suppose so, I can remember having a go in a VR machine in the early 90s, but I think the press hyped it too early as it tends to do with everything. I kind of wish there was more video/computer game content on Bad Influence though. Something actually useful to its viewers! Watching episodes back-to-back, Nam Rood gets old pretty quick too!

I did used to find Nam Rood (door man - spelt backwords) quite funny but i can understand why people didnt like him, especially girls it would seem and thats why he got removed from series 4.

I do also agree there should be more gaming shows around nowadays - gaming is now bigger than ever, yet its hardly ever covered on tv. Sure we had a few shows (Bits seemed to be the high point after gamesmaster finished) but its all gone a little quite.
