I can tell that it is definately the recording through the pa that makes his highs sound shit.. As a metal vocalist its something we deal with- some sound guys that record live sets dont use any monitor mix from the vocals, and it takes the bite of it. I would be interested to hear what people have to say that attended the show- i bet front of house it sounded tons better.

Thats without mentioning the recording is straight up terrible- A mobile phone in the crowd would probably sound on par.

It's not Johnny, it's the recording. I've played shows and have people tell me how great the vocals are and then my band went to a small local studio to record and the vocals sounded like some else did them, absolutely poopy. I actually saw these guys last Friday and Johnny sounded better than he does on the albums.

I both enjoy johnny's and trevor's vocals, in fact two things they have in common is that they have some of the more distinctive voices in death, and both are very good in the way that they write their lyrics. Job For A Cowboy though is now just death metal outft while Black Dahlia Murder is a Melodic Death Metal outfit. Job is still at times labeled core bcz of their background and TBDM is labeled a lot simply bcz of their look, all ignorant when its clearly seen that theres no core influence.

The Black Dahlia Murder is one of my favorite bands, and so is Job for a Cowboy. I noticed that the vocals on Ruination are heavily inspired by Trevor Strnad. Jonny started switching a lot between the high and low vocals, which is awesome.

This is also just my opinion, but I don't at all think that Genesis was their worst. Coalescing Prophecy very well may be their best song.

Trevor's screams arent even screams they're screeches. All he does is yell loudly listen to this song on the album it rapes tbdm. And trevor doesnt have a better range his high to low ratio is 90/10 and johnny's is 60/50. Johnny also goes from low to high or high to low a lot in his songs and Trevor just randomly switches in the middle of the song for a bout 4 seconds ANd then goes back to his talking loudly.

Good sir, try "talking loudly" and sound even similar to Trevor's highs. Its a rasp or a screech, it stems from black metal. Theyre not meant to be screams, if they were screams that would be a hardcore influence. Take another listen to any song off Nocturnal the reason why you say "talking loud" is bcz trevor is actually doing his rasp to the full extent (VERY LOUDLY) meaning he has the ability while a lot of other vocalists do the whisper highs and turn up the volume.
