  • Did you have to pay or anything to go there? >.>

I wanted to go... I live in CA, Walnut. YouTube Live was very close to where I was... D:

  • I think they should've included artists like CobiCobe. Like an award for them, too, since they use this as a forum to expose their work! :)

Thank you so much for the mention, Xavier. I am flattered you feel I'm of the same calibur as anyone who performed for YTL. I don't know that I would've been able to pull it off... but it would've been a hell of an experience! ;) You're awesome. And your review was nicely done and objective.

  • Many of the people who bring audiences to YouTube are most of the audience so I agree... they should've panned around to get them. Although, if they were trying to keep it more like an award show (like VH1) I thought it was done nicely. I spent a lot of time even during performances trying to scan the audience for familiar friends, LOL! :) I also thought the cams were too close in proximity. Most times you can see footage from the peripheal of the other cams. A "Pan Cam" would've rocked!

  • Okay, AnnSpade - you so would've totally brought down the house! Your instant charm, awesome personality and incredible talents would've been the highlight of this entire thing!

  • Thanks, Xavier. :)

    BIG HuG!

  • I think that Youtube Live Tokyo was done much better because they had a stage for Youtubers who weren't part of their concert to perform. So they had the concert as well as Youtubers who wanted to express themselves.

Livetokyo and Livetokyo1 are worth checking out!

I agree with most of what you said and personally didn't like most of the Youtubers that they put on stage, it was more of a concert than a gathering which is disappointing to me. There was no age diversity on stage either.

  • Thanks for your remarks, GuruMN.

  • I don't think that the success of youtube is dependent on just a stage full of youtubers. It takes little guys like us, too. In my opinion, youtube should be more categorized. Believe it or not I'm the most viewed HVAC technician on youtube. Youtube will probably never recognize my specialized videos. I spend about four hours a day answering at least a dozen emails from HVAC techs all over the world asking me for technical help. Yet, Youtube has never flown me anywhere. This is not a complaint.

  • Hi Jim. Great point. I think, in general, Youtube could've done a much better job at including the every day Youtubers in this event and hopuefully they will in their next one.

  • I like your beard, it suits you.

  • Thanks, TheSmiterer. I'm not sure how long it's gonna be around.

  • Lots of great points! They could have also done it in a conference format where they had workshops, breakout sessions, booths, etc. They could have also had video blogging stations like they did at the conventions.

  • Hi Laurie. Workshops and conference rooms would've done the trick as well. Good points.

  • I didn't see it. I really wasn't sure what it was about til I have seen all these video from some of the partners.

  • Hi PB. Glad to see you posting.

  • Agreed! I'm glad I didn't go.

  • Hi Beccah. I think you're another Youtube celeb that should've been included.

  • Haha well I got my invite pretty early on, so I would like to think that they think I'm kinda cool!

I didn't want to spend the money to attend this, I felt it was going to be overproduced and that I wouldn't get my plane ticket's worth. I feel like I made the best decision for me. I am not really the type of person to let someone else pay my way, either, so yea. I stayed home and watched it on my computer.

  • I went to the event and it was great. But they didn't plan how to handle the crowd. They just put a line on the ground and say just stand behind here and don't pass it. Some of the normal youtubers had seats but you didn't see them.

  • Absolutely, agreed, chrisfball12. Thanks for posting.

  • Renetto would have been a great addition to the youtube event. I am headed over to see Annie Spade now :) thank you so much, I wish I could have been there, really would have fullfilled a dream of mine... but dreams are like clouds... more will come I am sure :) you rock. <3

  • You would have absolutely rocked and electrified the crowd, Mysti. I hope Youtube is smart enough to spot and highlight talent like yours for next time.

  • wow. that review/video kicked butt. great job xaves. i agree that this show was not as entertaining and showed a lot dull moments because most of the people who appeared were not regulars youtubers.

  • Wow. I don't know about kicking butt :) But that's for the kind words, Noelle.

  • I agree. Very well said. There are many, very talented people that should have been included. Maybe YT should have been searching for the lesser known members that have a lot to contribute to this site, and promoted them. It seemed like a poorly produced tv show. I also preferred seeing the footage posted by random YT'ers which showed the real, behind the scenes stuff...

  • Hi Mary. Thanks for commenting, as always.

  • LMFAO! Renetto!?!?!? what? lol. Renetto turned his back on youtube months ago,He made videos bashing chad and steve and pretty much saying how youtube is a horrible site and how Youtube is compleate and utter garbage. So Ya...Renetto getting a ticket to go to youtube live..No.

  • Hi FabioCrow07770. I knew, before hand, that mentioning Renetto was going to be controversial but I felt is right to include. I appreciate your remarks and you made some good, valid points as well.
