And don't say that it was fair becouse in the the mclaren spy story affair, which was the greatest f1 scandal and cheating, the drivers weren't punished
This can be seen when Senna, pushing to close the gap between himself and Schumacher, spun out of second place during the Brazilian Grand Prix. Senna commented as follows on the FW16 at the start of 1994: "I am uncomfortable in the car, it all feels wrong. We changed the seat and the wheel, but even so I was already asking for more room."
Patrick Head, subsequently removed a section of the chassis to give Senna more space. However the new passive Williams FW16 had its shortcomings.
The FW16 lacked the active suspension and traction control of the previous season's FW15C that made it difficult to drive until the modifications to become the FW16B. Some people theorise, due to the similarities in design between the FW15C and the FW16, that the car was designed with active suspension and traction control in mind, leading to a very twitchy and floaty front end.
Both Senna & Hill commented on how hard it was to drive this car on the limit, it's well documented. The 1994 season was the first in a while where traction control, launch control, active suspension & ABS were outlawed, and Williams consequently weren't quite so dominant.
Senna could drive much better on the limit and also he was a much better driver then Hill, so why Hill came just so close as 1 point at the end to Schumacher? Cause he had a damn good car. Like i said...Williams Renault were the best for years after eachother.
@FerrarifanV12 Williams improved the car AFTER the mid season 1994, that's why Hill came second in the Championship. By the time Senna was with them, until the 3rd race, the car was a "disaster" as Senna himself called it...
@FerrarifanV12 Not at the beginning of the 1994 Season. Benetton was the better car in the first few races. Jos Verstappen was fast too at the beginning of 1994. And who is Verstappen?
@FerrarifanV12 the reason why Hill came so close in the end, had all to do with the Car but not till after Imola. as the Williams chassi was heavily modifidy after Imola which can be seen at the drives windshield , Aerodynamics prior the re-built chassis very poor, still Even with all the cheating of Benotton Schumacher and Briatori, Senna put his car on pole every race he competed in 1994.
Had Senna not have been killed the Williams may not have been modifidy, we will never know....
Ansering your question. Williams car was really bad at 1994, you can see that by viewing the qualifying times at the brasilian gp. In 1993 the Williams Hill lap was 1:16.879, in 1994 it was 1:17.554, so the car was in 94 worse than in 93 due to so many changes in the rules, williams sucked that year, the car had good engine but was terrible to drive. In the other hand you can see Benneton Schumacher time in 93 was 1:17.821 and in 94 1:16.290, much better car in 94 than in 93.
Guys. The car changes a lot from the first races in the season to the last ones. Williams' car improved a lot until the end and Senna would have been champion again. Unfortunately, that thing happened to him in San Marino. RIP Ayrton Senna da Silva.
@FerrarifanV12 Williams was hard to drive at the start of the season but after months the car became the best. Compare that car with Benetton or Ferrari: four different drivers (with experience or not) with chance to win races. The car at the start of 1994 was not so good, but after became the best.
@rubensfanbrazilbass actually the williams car of 1994 was alot faster than schumi's car but schumi has something sennadoesn't have raw consistent pace senna was a hot lapper but schumi could do the same laps maybe not as fast but very close for a course of 20 plus laps. a race isn't won on 1 lap its won on every lap
And what have done Verstappen in the Benetton ? 1'18"1, so...
And it's difficult to compare Hill' times as in 1994 they had only Friday session to set times. Besides it was the first GP, so the very first session. And Hill was much closer to Senna in Pacific and San Marino.
How can you say the Williams was "very bad" ? Difficult to drive, yes, but "very bad" ? Surely still the fastest : Hill was still on the second row. Which happend only once to Schumi's teammates.
@SchumiSutil Do not compare a team where drivers have the same support ( McLaren, Williams) and the Brawn-Byrne-Schum strategy ( with Benetton, and then whith Ferrari, this one having less gap in support for 2 cars than it happened during Benetton era)Moreover, Senna was 1 second faster than Hill at Imola during all cessions despite it wasn't a driver circuit as Interlagos is.Schum&hill improved their time at Imola Saturday.
@FerrarifanV12 but Michael Schumacher's second place was a surprise in start. Already there were allegations that the team had found a way around the new F1 electronic regulations which banned the most sophisticated electronics which helped the drivers. These included fully-automatic gearboxes, traction control and launch control - a system which allowed a driver to simply push the accelerator fully on when the start was given without needing to pay attention to wheel-spin or gear changes.
The only reason Hill got within 1 point of the championship is because Schumacher had over 40 points taken off him through penalties & bans that he didn't deserve.
@FerrarifanV12 It'a a lot more complicated. 1. Williams steadily improved the car so Hill was eventually able to keep up with Schumacher. 2. It is thought that at the beginning, Benetton overcame chassis-suspension problems by using banned electronic aids such as traction control. At least some launch control code was found on the car's software after Imola, but no hard evidence that electronic aids were used by the team. All in all, Williams was probably better, just not while Senna was there.
@FerrarifanV12 He came just 1 point short, not because the Williams was the best car (which it was), but because Schumacher actually got 92 points over 12 races, and Hill had 16 races to score 91...
@FerrarifanV12 Hill only came close so close to Schumacher becuase of Schumachers 2 race ban, and his disqualifiaction at Silverstone and Spa. Thats 4 races. The Wiliams car was a dog to drive in the 1st half of the season after the new rule changes
@FerrarifanV12 "so why Hill came just so close as 1 point at the end to Schumacher" - are you serious? o_O Schumacher was banned for 2 races, retired in 2 races and was disqualified for 2 races. That's 6 races without ANY points. Hill was without any points only in 3 races. THAT's why he was so close to MSC at the end. That car might've been better for the season ending, but early till middle season stage it was HORRID!
@FerrarifanV12 To answer your question : Hill came back at one point because Schumacher was suspended for 2 races, and FIA removed from him 2 victories !!! Just to give suspens to the end of the championship after Senna's death ! Fuck them and Schumi
Truly Indeed. Both Senna and MS lapped tDamon Hill with almost 17 laps to go.
Everybody nows that Benetton used an illegal fuel rig (to gain 2 secs every pit) to pass Senna after the firt stop and also used illegal traction control, illegal launch system etc.
Senna was pushing on the limit, only 5 secs behind, with a slightly faster pace without the same illegal eletronic aids cheating and despite F16 bottoming out problems in bumpy tracks like Interlagos. Best driver ever
Explain me what was a mess about the car? This car was one of the top cars for years before and after. Williams Renault was an amazing combination good for many titles. Why do you think Senna wanted to drive for this team?
Then explain my why Williams Renault won the constructorschampionship and why Damon Hill almost won the Championship for drivers in that year? This car was the best in that year :-)
thats what I mean, Williams Renault won the constructorchampionship because they had 2 great drivers, even though benetton was cheating. I guess the Williams was getting better during the season....I've found a nice commentary here on youtube: "Benetton was cheating whole 1994 year, Senna was in really bad conditioned FW-16 and he was surprised how unstable the car was....IN one of occasions he said that FW-16 is rubbish car...but nonetheless that car killed him due to mechanical corrections..."
You are making mistakes. The original FW16 (read the wiki article) was a very ill handling car, the innovative suspension didn't gel with the aerodynamics. It was heavily revised for Imola and then again for Germany (FW16B). The FW16B was a very good car (as you say). The A was not. Read the wiki article.
@FerrarifanV12 It was a good car, although it had many problems early on like nervousness and handling. The FW16B later in the season was improved and more friendly to drive. Hill was only able to catch up to Schumacher because he was disqualified from 2 races and banned from entering 2 more. Senna did get the 3 poles with the car but as the Williams Team said, the car wasn't on pole position for those races. It was all Senna. I doubt that even Prost could get 1 of those 3 poles in that car.
@FerrarifanV12 Hill was a good driver, but if you look at the history of the 1994 season, there were ALOT of retires in every race, I think it was one of the worst seasons for the entire circuit.
The Williams WAS a rubbish car, it was a bad car but with a fantastic engine. Same as the late 70's-early 80's Ferrari- bad car but great engine.
@FerrarifanV12 Because the team developed a B- and C-spec car later on, that was capable of winning. And of course better cars were made in 1995-97. Senna would have been so dominating in the 90's. But that is water under the bridge unfortunately
@FerrarifanV12 Shumacher himself, Briatore, said their car was better. Patrick Head, Franck Williams said also their car was behind. Bernard Dudot confirmed that too. And all people having knowledge of F1 knew that Benetton-Ford was better than Williams FW16. Why Hill almost champion? Because the cheaters Briatore-Bryne-Brawn-Schumacher were penalized enough so it can happen, not enough for what they did.JJ Letho was injured and Verstappen newbie. Moreover Benetton privileged 1 car strategy
It is nice to see how Ayrton is faster and faster with every new lap, and how is he pushing Williams more and more closer to the limit. Yes Mr. Mouth he is the Master!!!
between 4.35 4.36 minutes of this video senna are hearing the peoples screaming he open up his helmet to gave a little welcome to the fans! check left hand
Where are the others? Where is the courage to face this heavy rain? ONLY Senna on the track, driving carefully with the skill of a MASTER! Ayrton is the RAINMASTER!
How i Miss this good old F1 days...Drivers with so much personality and talent and a real graet show for the fans...Ayrton was a symbol for the whole circus and his gone too soon...but he did in his short life so much that we can gape about...love you Senna...Rest in Peace
He didn't have to come out here to practice he knew this track like the back of his hand he only come out for his fans thats why everbody loved Senna.
I don't see Prost in this, Unless you mean Donnington '93. He looks Awesome in the rain. I'm sure he is going as fast as he possibly can, which is quite a bit faster than anyone else. Speaking of which, where IS everyone else in this?
Senna is not racing with slicks here, in some shots you can see the grooves. At some point in the video you can see it says "Practice" so this is probably shot on the friday or saturday before the race.
I am not sure why nobody else is out racing, but I bet it is due to the weather. Theres a reason why they called Senna a master in the rain, and that is because he took any opportunity he could to practice in the rain, just like in this video.
to all those people who say that hamilton "outclassed" and "beat" alonso, what crap. alonso was given the second rate equipment at mclaren and less technical suppout than hamilton. whenever hamilton had a poor race, it was always his fault and but alonso had faults with his car or was penalised. alonso had bad luck through the whole season but hamilton only had it at the end. they had equal points, wins, and podiums but bernie still found an excuse to stick hamilton on top. alonso was better....
GP Brasil 1994. It was my first ever Grand Prix. Only God knew it would be Senna's last. This makes it very memorable. I sat in Sector C overlooking the pit lane. During qualifying it began to rain and drivers and teams waited for the rain to stop. Then suddenly the Williams garage opened up and out came Senna to do a few laps in the rain to please the fans at Interlagos. Every cheered. Simply fantastic. Not only was Senna great but he always did his best to please his fans. Senna para sempre.
Wow! If the rain had came on sunday, probably Senna would had won the race. Of course, even the ilegal Fuel Ring of Bennetton will be NOT able to stop our champion! Thanks for posting!

I'd rather watch 15 year old videos of the Great One than a live race of the current generation of kids who think they are close but have no idea how far behind Him they are! (not mentioning any names ......Hamilton....)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
what are you talking about? hamilton has been superb, in his 1st season he outclasses Alonso, he kid is the closest thing i have seen to Senna in the wet. Did you miss his drive in the wet a Silverstone? when massa and raikkonen are spinning he was dominating
i rememeber Monza, he was cautious, fighting for the title and he did not have the best race but i remember senna having some very poor wet races. You might not like Hamilton, i did not really like him either but you can't deny that for a rookie he was superb, Alonso is a great driver and to match him and beat him shows true talent.
i remember senna spinning in barcelona 92 in the wet and later crashing, he made many errors, Senna is my idol, the best driver ever, what is wrong with hamilton telling people he is idol, he never compared his abilities to senna, you can hate him on a personal level but if you deny his driver talent you need to open your eyes
but you have to take into accout back then the margin from a wet to dry setup was massive and now its not much diffrence at all. when you so hamilton in quali at monza that just out lined that he is not all that fantastic. im just waiting for mclaren to make a crap car like they have done in the past and then we will se if hamilton is a true driver. its not that i hate i just think he is way overated
he won the title this year in a car which was not as good as the ferrari, he is constantly pushing the limit, he is one of the top drivers, anyone who can beat alonso consistently in the same car must have talent, why else would Alonso be so upset about being beaten by a rookie. He is definitely similar to senna in his driving style, very attacking and very fast with few errors. If he has a shit car then sure he won't be as competitive but that is normal, no driver ever wins titles in shit cars.
Why has Alonso come into this? this is about senna and hamilton. In 2007 when it was the brazilian gp Hamilton mentioned to the press that he was going to go to senna's grave and then the press went overbord saying loads of nasty stuff about imola 94. If Hamilton had a ounce of respect for Ayrton he would shut up and drive and stop wishing he could be a true legend like ayrton.
well you seem to doubt Hamilton that is why i mentioned Alonso: the driver who took the fight to Schumacher when no one else could and proved how good he is. If Hamilton can beat Alonso in his first year in F1 in the same car it proves his potential and he will only get better but there no point in trying to reason with someone so ignorant, enjoy the rest of hamilton's career.....
consider absolute and relative difference. hamilton in monza had a bad timing, he was not driving badly. with a wrong set up you lose a lot of time because todays cars are very similar. hamilton deserves what he got, but comparing him with Senna makes no sense. Senna was not just good, he was fantastic.
You must not forget that Senna dominated a lot of races when he had no driver aid...and races that he did, his genuis is the fact that no matter what aid or no aid. Not every driver is perfect and Senna made a lot of mistakes but he was always out to look to go faster
f1 never had ABS! But yes it was a mechanical failure (Williams) who cost Senna the life... this is Racing and yes no track an no car is 100% safe-proof... otherwise it wouldnt be racing at limit and beyond
the cars of 1994 must not have active suspension, traction control etc as part of a fia rule change. therefore you cannot blame williams for not fitting those parts.
No, it wasn't. That was the first announcement, but later they figured out the problem. A broken piece of the suspension sticked into his helmet in that very 2 mm rubber part, where there's the only oppurtunity for this to happen.
I sometimes still have to remind myself he's gone even though 14 years have passed. I wonder what he's make of the modern era and of the drivers now. He'd have respected Schuey for his achievements but probably wouldn't have had as many world championships if Ayrton had lived. He loved his fans and being Brazilian. In a way this was a goodbye to his Brazilian fans, as he never finshed this race. So sad... Senna Forever :-)
If Ayrton hadn't raced in that evil Imola 1994 GP, he could have been alive...... marketing and all that bullshit don't care about safety, the pretend to do it, but safety suck their balls in fact... The even sacrificed a genious like Ayrton because of a stupid race plaged of incidents, dead drivers (Ayrton and Ratzenberger), wounded spectators....... No way, I hate when they prefer to risk a human life because of that.... Fuck all those bastards, they can go to the Hell itself if it was for me!
If the Imola circuit was safer then 2 people were alive still. If they just putted some rows of tires against those walls it would be probably all different.
If not for marketing and the pressure on drivers to run stupid races like Adelaide 1989-1991, or Qualifying or Test running under this gambling and ridiculous conditions (Brazil 94, UK 93, Germany 1993, and so on....) maybe things could have been very different.... Ayrton didn't want to race in Imola 1994 but he was pressured to do it; in fact, Ayrton wasn't going to race, he asked advice to Alain the day before (believe it or not), and Alain told him "Williams car is not easy to drive".
I hope some day, big companies and sponsors, teams, and media, take care seriously about safety... The same happened in German GP 1993, similar to this Brazil GP under heavy rain, with Zanardi or Alboreto (don't remember who) having a tremendous crash on the Warm Up Session.... Prost hardly avoid the crash against him, but another guy wasn't so lucky and crashed against Zanardi or Alboreto and I don't know how both survive.....
I don't agree. Alain Prost didn't run in a similar condition on Friday Practice Session a year before (UK GP 1993), and just run 3 laps for the Friday Qualifying Session, getting the provisional pole position in that UK GP 1993 Friday Qualifying Session, by more than 1 sec. to the guy behind.... Nothing you can seriously test there under heavy rain; it's useful for a soft or normal rain, not in a pouring rain like that, no way, just a marketing lap for Ayrton and Hill due to contracts...
I'm an absolutely fan of him, but if someone can explain me the point in going out and go for a running in such a condition, I'll appreciate it!!!. Just a run for the "torcida", just that, completely useless from a sporting point of view..... The same counts for Hill..... Nothing to test or prove there, just useless.... No way.... There was no need for Senna and Hill risk their cars or something for such a silly run.....
This is not useless. The commentator also says that he probably went out to watch how the situation would be with lots of rain. This could also happen during the race and then it's good to feel how the car handles in such weather.
In absolute talent, there is only one guy that equals Senna, Clark. In style, determination and race savy, Fangio. In handling the physical and mental side, Schumacher. Senna had all these attributes and a god like presence about him. This video just shows he was, is, and will always be what F1 is about.
Also it's Senna's home grandprix, so he's doing it to pleasure the fans who came to watch in particular him. He gave the fans what they came for, even with heavy rainfall.
At least Ayrton is trying to entertain the spectators who paid good money to see this training. And for those who think he's going slow, think again, it looks slow, but it's way faster than you think. Senna, you rule(d)!

Benetton was the best car, till that time they had an ilegal car. When it stops, Willians was the best car.
But anyway, you cannot say that Willians was too much better than Renault.
A team which get 103 points in a season cannot be very worst than the others.
You can say that Schumacher was 300 milion times better than Hill, and that´s why he made the difference. Ok!! I agree.
But why he did not make the difference in 1996 or 1997? It´s because he had and very very worst car! That´s it!

@FerrarifanV12
Guys. The car changes a lot from the first races in the season to the last ones. Williams' car improved a lot until the end and Senna would have been champion again. Unfortunately, that thing happened to him in San Marino. RIP Ayrton Senna da Silva.
mozartiano123 1 year ago
@FerrarifanV12 Williams was hard to drive at the start of the season but after months the car became the best. Compare that car with Benetton or Ferrari: four different drivers (with experience or not) with chance to win races. The car at the start of 1994 was not so good, but after became the best.
antonelloateloanto 1 year ago
@rubensfanbrazilbass actually the williams car of 1994 was alot faster than schumi's car but schumi has something sennadoesn't have raw consistent pace senna was a hot lapper but schumi could do the same laps maybe not as fast but very close for a course of 20 plus laps. a race isn't won on 1 lap its won on every lap
dojOdRiFTeR 1 year ago
@rubensfanbrazilbass
SchumiSutil 1 year ago
@SchumiSutil Do not compare a team where drivers have the same support ( McLaren, Williams) and the Brawn-Byrne-Schum strategy ( with Benetton, and then whith Ferrari, this one having less gap in support for 2 cars than it happened during Benetton era)Moreover, Senna was 1 second faster than Hill at Imola during all cessions despite it wasn't a driver circuit as Interlagos is.Schum&hill improved their time at Imola Saturday.

@rubensfanbrazilbass
still Senna put the Williams on Pole in Brazil, Aida and Imola!
AIyx 2 months ago
@FerrarifanV12 but Michael Schumacher's second place was a surprise in start. Already there were allegations that the team had found a way around the new F1 electronic regulations which banned the most sophisticated electronics which helped the drivers. These included fully-automatic gearboxes, traction control and launch control - a system which allowed a driver to simply push the accelerator fully on when the start was given without needing to pay attention to wheel-spin or gear changes.
joseavs 1 year ago
@FerrarifanV12
The only reason Hill got within 1 point of the championship is because Schumacher had over 40 points taken off him through penalties & bans that he didn't deserve.
richie1438 1 year ago
@FerrarifanV12 It'a a lot more complicated. 1. Williams steadily improved the car so Hill was eventually able to keep up with Schumacher. 2. It is thought that at the beginning, Benetton overcame chassis-suspension problems by using banned electronic aids such as traction control. At least some launch control code was found on the car's software after Imola, but no hard evidence that electronic aids were used by the team. All in all, Williams was probably better, just not while Senna was there.
VegetativeHorse 10 months ago 2
@FerrarifanV12 He came just 1 point short, not because the Williams was the best car (which it was), but because Schumacher actually got 92 points over 12 races, and Hill had 16 races to score 91...
Salidadepista 9 months ago
@FerrarifanV12 Hill only came close so close to Schumacher becuase of Schumachers 2 race ban, and his disqualifiaction at Silverstone and Spa. Thats 4 races. The Wiliams car was a dog to drive in the 1st half of the season after the new rule changes
gerryff 8 months ago
@FerrarifanV12 "so why Hill came just so close as 1 point at the end to Schumacher" - are you serious? o_O Schumacher was banned for 2 races, retired in 2 races and was disqualified for 2 races. That's 6 races without ANY points. Hill was without any points only in 3 races. THAT's why he was so close to MSC at the end. That car might've been better for the season ending, but early till middle season stage it was HORRID!
thylegion 7 months ago
@FerrarifanV12 The car started the season as the worst handling car in f1 history. it would change characteristics mid-cornor
lostwill86 6 months ago
@FerrarifanV12 To answer your question : Hill came back at one point because Schumacher was suspended for 2 races, and FIA removed from him 2 victories !!! Just to give suspens to the end of the championship after Senna's death ! Fuck them and Schumi
1970vlad 6 months ago
@BimboInternacional it didn't help by the fact that Benneton CHEATED by switching launch control back on throughout the season.
danuk55555 1 year ago
@BimboInternacional

@bubi8894
Then explain my why Williams Renault won the constructorschampionship and why Damon Hill almost won the Championship for drivers in that year? This car was the best in that year :-)
FerrarifanV12 2 years ago
thats what I mean, Williams Renault won the constructorchampionship because they had 2 great drivers, even though benetton was cheating. I guess the Williams was getting better during the season....I've found a nice commentary here on youtube: "Benetton was cheating whole 1994 year, Senna was in really bad conditioned FW-16 and he was surprised how unstable the car was....IN one of occasions he said that FW-16 is rubbish car...but nonetheless that car killed him due to mechanical corrections..."
bubi8894 2 years ago
You are making mistakes. The original FW16 (read the wiki article) was a very ill handling car, the innovative suspension didn't gel with the aerodynamics. It was heavily revised for Imola and then again for Germany (FW16B). The FW16B was a very good car (as you say). The A was not. Read the wiki article.
gold333 2 years ago 3
@FerrarifanV12 It was a good car, although it had many problems early on like nervousness and handling. The FW16B later in the season was improved and more friendly to drive. Hill was only able to catch up to Schumacher because he was disqualified from 2 races and banned from entering 2 more. Senna did get the 3 poles with the car but as the Williams Team said, the car wasn't on pole position for those races. It was all Senna. I doubt that even Prost could get 1 of those 3 poles in that car.
Conquerer13 1 year ago
@FerrarifanV12 Hill was a good driver, but if you look at the history of the 1994 season, there were ALOT of retires in every race, I think it was one of the worst seasons for the entire circuit.
The Williams WAS a rubbish car, it was a bad car but with a fantastic engine. Same as the late 70's-early 80's Ferrari- bad car but great engine.
wikipedia "1994 formula one season"
sookster54 1 year ago
@FerrarifanV12 But not at the start of the season.
antonelloateloanto 1 year ago
@FerrarifanV12 Because the team developed a B- and C-spec car later on, that was capable of winning. And of course better cars were made in 1995-97. Senna would have been so dominating in the 90's. But that is water under the bridge unfortunately
Zobzon69 1 year ago
@FerrarifanV12 Shumacher himself, Briatore, said their car was better. Patrick Head, Franck Williams said also their car was behind. Bernard Dudot confirmed that too. And all people having knowledge of F1 knew that Benetton-Ford was better than Williams FW16. Why Hill almost champion? Because the cheaters Briatore-Bryne-Brawn-Schumacher were penalized enough so it can happen, not enough for what they did.JJ Letho was injured and Verstappen newbie. Moreover Benetton privileged 1 car strategy

Senna para sempre.

what are you talking about? hamilton has been superb, in his 1st season he outclasses Alonso, he kid is the closest thing i have seen to Senna in the wet. Did you miss his drive in the wet a Silverstone? when massa and raikkonen are spinning he was dominating
scoregoals 3 years ago
did you see hamilton at monza in the rain lol
ayrtonsenna1960 3 years ago
i rememeber Monza, he was cautious, fighting for the title and he did not have the best race but i remember senna having some very poor wet races. You might not like Hamilton, i did not really like him either but you can't deny that for a rookie he was superb, Alonso is a great driver and to match him and beat him shows true talent.
scoregoals 3 years ago
i remember senna spinning in barcelona 92 in the wet and later crashing, he made many errors, Senna is my idol, the best driver ever, what is wrong with hamilton telling people he is idol, he never compared his abilities to senna, you can hate him on a personal level but if you deny his driver talent you need to open your eyes
scoregoals 3 years ago
but you have to take into accout back then the margin from a wet to dry setup was massive and now its not much diffrence at all. when you so hamilton in quali at monza that just out lined that he is not all that fantastic. im just waiting for mclaren to make a crap car like they have done in the past and then we will se if hamilton is a true driver. its not that i hate i just think he is way overated
ayrtonsenna1960 3 years ago
he won the title this year in a car which was not as good as the ferrari, he is constantly pushing the limit, he is one of the top drivers, anyone who can beat alonso consistently in the same car must have talent, why else would Alonso be so upset about being beaten by a rookie. He is definitely similar to senna in his driving style, very attacking and very fast with few errors. If he has a shit car then sure he won't be as competitive but that is normal, no driver ever wins titles in shit cars.
scoregoals 3 years ago
Why has Alonso come into this? this is about senna and hamilton. In 2007 when it was the brazilian gp Hamilton mentioned to the press that he was going to go to senna's grave and then the press went overbord saying loads of nasty stuff about imola 94. If Hamilton had a ounce of respect for Ayrton he would shut up and drive and stop wishing he could be a true legend like ayrton.
ayrtonsenna1960 3 years ago
well you seem to doubt Hamilton that is why i mentioned Alonso: the driver who took the fight to Schumacher when no one else could and proved how good he is. If Hamilton can beat Alonso in his first year in F1 in the same car it proves his potential and he will only get better but there no point in trying to reason with someone so ignorant, enjoy the rest of hamilton's career.....
scoregoals 3 years ago
dude im not ignorant i just think its pethetic how people want hamilton to be like senna its like saying a can of fosters is better than moet!
ayrtonsenna1960 3 years ago 3
consider absolute and relative difference. hamilton in monza had a bad timing, he was not driving badly. with a wrong set up you lose a lot of time because todays cars are very similar. hamilton deserves what he got, but comparing him with Senna makes no sense. Senna was not just good, he was fantastic.

Those cars had TC, 2 way telemetry, advanced active suspensions and who knows what else (ABS came a little later) but it was great race non-the-less.
The flat bottomed cars ended up producing even more downforce then today, mostly ground effect.
Witch proves there's nothing wrong big downforce electronics cars just, the problem lies with fanboys.
What killed Senna was that the Williams wasn't fitted with active supensions, TC, ABS for witch it was designed in mind with.
DarkOneForce 3 years ago
the cars of 1994 must not have active suspension, traction control etc as part of a fia rule change. therefore you cannot blame williams for not fitting those parts.
hitman2010 3 years ago
what killed senna was it own tire that hit on the head after the impact
chapumunoz 3 years ago
No, it wasn't. That was the first announcement, but later they figured out the problem. A broken piece of the suspension sticked into his helmet in that very 2 mm rubber part, where there's the only oppurtunity for this to happen.

If not for marketing and the pressure on drivers to run stupid races like Adelaide 1989-1991, or Qualifying or Test running under this gambling and ridiculous conditions (Brazil 94, UK 93, Germany 1993, and so on....) maybe things could have been very different.... Ayrton didn't want to race in Imola 1994 but he was pressured to do it; in fact, Ayrton wasn't going to race, he asked advice to Alain the day before (believe it or not), and Alain told him "Williams car is not easy to drive".
lucianoestivill 3 years ago
I hope some day, big companies and sponsors, teams, and media, take care seriously about safety... The same happened in German GP 1993, similar to this Brazil GP under heavy rain, with Zanardi or Alboreto (don't remember who) having a tremendous crash on the Warm Up Session.... Prost hardly avoid the crash against him, but another guy wasn't so lucky and crashed against Zanardi or Alboreto and I don't know how both survive.....
lucianoestivill 3 years ago
because he wanted to race rain or dry, can't blame him for that

I don't agree. Alain Prost didn't run in a similar condition on Friday Practice Session a year before (UK GP 1993), and just run 3 laps for the Friday Qualifying Session, getting the provisional pole position in that UK GP 1993 Friday Qualifying Session, by more than 1 sec. to the guy behind.... Nothing you can seriously test there under heavy rain; it's useful for a soft or normal rain, not in a pouring rain like that, no way, just a marketing lap for Ayrton and Hill due to contracts...
lucianoestivill 3 years ago
I'm an absolutely fan of him, but if someone can explain me the point in going out and go for a running in such a condition, I'll appreciate it!!!. Just a run for the "torcida", just that, completely useless from a sporting point of view..... The same counts for Hill..... Nothing to test or prove there, just useless.... No way.... There was no need for Senna and Hill risk their cars or something for such a silly run.....
lucianoestivill 3 years ago
This is not useless. The commentator also says that he probably went out to watch how the situation would be with lots of rain. This could also happen during the race and then it's good to feel how the car handles in such weather.
