George Best was a very good one, a real cracking player , but he never had a chance to perform in the highest levels as Garrincha did. Unfortunately he played for Northern Ireland and ManUnited (the English league was terrible at the time). His peak was in 1968 when he won the European Cup against Benfica playing superbly. But Mane played in that level for years and years.
Garrincha was a dream player blessd with every attacking gift, dribbling&creativty aside he used to score from corner kicks too, infact he did it 4times. George on the other hand was also genuis in his own. C both hd gr8 sucess bt dey wer both mavericks. Both nvr realised their full talent, garrincha dint knw abt fame and best knw too much abt it.both wer alcoholic. Bt btwn d two garrincha was more talentd.
best was something rare in english football which has never been known as a haven of dribblers, great individualists but the brazilian game was packed with individual talents...joel,dorval,mama,julinho,jairzinho,edu pepe all great wingers who'd be revelations in european football just look at how highy revered the likes of jair and canario were when they came over yet garrincha towers over them all...an then some
best was wonderful but garrincha was truly from another planet both in skills, touch, elasticity and in dead ball situations he could make the ball do anything plus he was a revelation even in brazil in the 50-60's a country full of individualists, great dribblers and astonishing talents not to mention the fact he played against far better opposition as the english 1st division arguably was weaker than the carioca, sao paolo-rio championships.bets was great but garrincha was something more.
george simply doesnt compare to mane..he did more was far more skilled more explosive extraordianry shooting ability to sweve the ball inside or out dangerous from free kicks headers and that ungodly dribbling ability that best simply doesnt have there is a cat like quality to garrinchas moves that bestie donesnt have..any expert even british will say mane was better... bobby moore ray wilson bobby charlton are all on record saying garrincha was superior.vote with ya head not heart
Garrincha was good, very good, but Georgie Best was in a different league to him. I have watched a few Garrincha video's and I can guess what he is going to do next-that little step over thing. Whereas Best would leave you thinking 'Is he gonna pass?','Is he gonna shoot?'. Garrincha was neither faster or a better dribbler than Best.
For the best George Best comp- search 'George Best Tribute' and click on the first result. If it doesn't change your mind, you are really stupid.
garrincha was better even though best is an absolute hero in my house.there is a clip on you tube of garrincha in the 18 yard box..he bursts in there an stops dead n then proceeds to beat 4 defenders one after another all the while they are taking huge swings at him but he makes fools of them all just because he could.while i think garrincha was the better ireally believe supatyke 1965 is on the right track..just enjoy them both.legends
Don't compare just enjoy. Best was never going to play in any World Cups because he played for Northern Ireland, who simply were not good enough. One regret is that Garrincha who was a genius does not get the recognition in the UK and Europe. Great footage of two 'Masters'.
Just say it who didn't know Garrincha good enough.. Garrincha used to dribble the whole team.. Once he dribbled all 10 field players plus the goalkeeper against Vasco in Brazil.. Just because he could.. There wasn't and isn't a best dribbler than him... That's why he's recognized as "the dribbler's king".

lol we have a video about this goal???I know that Garrincha were a fantastic player for me its one of the 6 best players of history but when i say him playing its diferent i see that he drible one...or two but not three xD however he not do the goals of George Best dribling 5 or 6 players.
george best dribbles were stunning but garrincha was out of this world brasil won world cups because of him mostly and pele became so famous because "mane" also and even in chile 1952 when they took out pele injured he took brasil to the finals
most of the garrincha footage is from world cups the highest level you can play at against the very best players,he makes it look easy.best was extraordinary but garrincha was better imo
Not because he played for United. Best is the best British player of all time, and probably the best European player of all time. I could think of many players better than Garrincha (inc. Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Eusebio etc.)
I have seen him play at Old Trafford and let me say that the footage does not do justice to him.He is brilliant. The ball sticks to his feet. Not a push and run player.
You can't choose a best one from that video because 80% of all footage from brazilian football from garrinchas' time was lost. And most important, why should you choose? They were both great!
awesome video,please type -- matteo 7 -- have a look,matteo has been invited to several clubs overseas,,we are from Australia,,thank you;;,also scouted my a Man U scout in SYDNEY;;
Great / Awesome video man, wow, im savin that to my Favourites hahah, okayy..... George Best is my Player, im number 7 6 10 always, and =] I never seen Garrincha Play, but i have herd about him, great video !
Wait, totz, only three of the Garrincha´s footage are from his playing in his team Botafogo. All of the rest is him playing for Brazil against European national teams, specially Sweden, USSR and Tchekoslovakia. Garrincha prefered to play against European defenders. He said that they couldn´t move their hips.
I loved this video. I just regret that we don´t have much Stanley Matthews footage, so we could see the three greatest (and most important) dribblers of all time at the same video.
ok my bad i thought most of the clips of garrincha were from the brazilian league. thank you for informing me. that does explain alot because international football has a much slower pace. even though garrincha's dribbling in this video is impressive, it is at too slow of a pace to compare with george best. IMO you just can't compare it to dribbling at a fast pace.
i fully agree totz, the defender literally backs uo as garrinch approaches..at present time defenders dont fear the humiliation of being nutmegged inspite of the scandalous compilations can be seen by millions world wide. And for god sake, a defender who gives u time to bend down, take off your boot and pass the ball is a fucking pancy
All the pampered, spoiled, over-paid prima donnas of today should be made to watch these two and see what football used to be all about. Many thanks to galizacinema for posting these two legends of the game.
simply marvellous..can't say who is better..

George Best is better than any South American football player-End of-Ask Pele, he said George Best was the best also.
There are too many biased Brazillian comments on here.

@avro007 There's no biased comentary here except of your commentary.
Better than any South American player? hahahaha
You're crazy. Pelé said he loved the way that Best played but not that he was the best, which is obviously wrong.

brilliant video!
though i think garrincha is massively overrated. he rarely cuts in.
garrincha tends to always go out wider
whereas best cuts in, goes wide, and is far quicker than garrincha.
in terms of straight up dribbling (using pure skill to beat their opponents), i'd say that best and garrincha are comparable.

On the old times, every brazilian player was playing in the brazilian league.
in brazil it was possible to find
2, 3 players like Ronaldinho Gaucho (or better) per team.People from Europe,USA don't know
nothing about brazilian football and are still trying to say bullshit or just throwing up words.
btw almost all garrincha's scenes were in worldcup , the european's defenders were afraid to play against garrincha,
afraid to be humiliated.
