@tomanyasses I had done a similar wire job when I ran the power tailgate lock ( so it locks with keyfob ) so I kind of knew where I was going to wire it, and pop it into the cabin.. it was much faster running the backup cable but I was also on my back underneath the vehicle which did suck..
@BooyaGadget i have tacoma just like yours and my bolt cover on the step bumper breaks off to, i quit buying new ones. and i did the camera in the rubber cover of the hitch just like you did so thanks . but i dont know were to wire the monitor i wired the camera to the back up light, i was thinking of putting a cigarette plug on the monitor power so i can plug it in and take it out. Any way thanks for the video it helped me
Hi there. Can you please give me a little bit more detail how to wire the power cable from the camera? It has 2 wires: 1 orange and 1 black. I am not sure where the black wire go (may be ground). The one I have is very similar to the one from this video.
@Nghieple100 Hey.. since this video was made, I have a new vehicle ( lincoln mkz hybrid ). Therefore, I can't specifically remember exactly the connections off the top of my head. BUT.. Black is always Ground, that we can both agree on. This is the PERFECT question to post in the Tacoma World Forum ! Because I flat out, cannot remember. But once you find the connection, it will work great for you assuming your head-unit is friendly. Booya.
i tryed to hook my Xo vision htc35 and it keep showing black and white and if i hook it up to my tv in the house with a dc adapter it shows color, my radio is the Xo vision xod1750. if i conect my hd cam to my head unit it shows color so i have no idea what is going on,,,,,,,,,,
@QMoney0193 Hey QMoney, that's an interesting issue. That's a specific product I just don't have unfortunately, what I really strongly recommend is to transfer this question to tacoma world forum. I'm also curious if that cam has any settings which may need tweaking somehow. I can't think of why that would happen as it's just the yellow cable, but the guys in the forums may have had a similar issue. thanks, AC
@TeddyDodgeRam07 send us an update when you're done... I'm always selling the use of forums, you may be a forum guy... I hope you are, I guarantee there's a Dodge Ram forum.. They may already have a writeup or pics ? well, you should take some pics and let us see 'em. you can message us if you prefer not to post public. Good luck.. It was a fun project for me.
dose the camera have the Guidelines already in it or its your head unit that dose that? i want to buy this item but i didnt know if you has the guidelines already in it?
@TeddyDodgeRam07 Hey.. YES, this camera comes with the 3 metered lines for you to gauge distance. In this video, if you noticed, they are backwards, that is only because I edited the video. They do appear "not reversed" when normally viewing. My head unit is only receiving a signal, it does not alter it. If I connect my HU to reverse, it will switch on with the camera if I wire that which I might. After a few weeks, even with Rainy Seattle, this thing still is working great. Booya!
@TeddyDodgeRam07 Also... another thought when wiring.. For ~~ $30 you get this camera, and I had to buy some cable. Install is free. For me, I realize I was buying a "value priced" camera so my wiring job is actually very re-useable if I ever decide to upgrade which I probably will not. My point here is that you consider wiring your setup so that it is plug n play as much as possible. Last thing you would want to do is have to re-wire a new system again. Later. Booya Cuz
its a sucks to try to run the video wire all the way back following the mainwireing if you got little skinny hands you might do it
