Toby Keith.... secod fiddle again. Saw him open for George Strait in Tucson AZ in '92. Didn't turn down the lights or nothing... Poor bastard stood there and sang "shoulda been a cowboy" with the lights up and nobody givin a fuck...HAHAHAHA hilarious now that i think about it and how big he's become....

I'm saying it's clear if you watch this scene in the film, or watch this video closely, that they aren't singing it live at this concert b/c they aren't close enough to the mike at various times. It's not a big deal, they just had a backing track and were playing & singing with it b/c they had one chance to film a really important scene.

Thanks for the information about Mr. Bruton. A truly great talent! So sad. Ive loved country alota years, my daughter married a first cousin of Naomi Judd. Many happy memories of places like A&Js golden horseshoe on pickers night.

in 1974 my daughter married a Judd and that introduced me to the wonderful world of country. this a great movie I only wish I could have seen on a big screen,as our local show said they would have it but oped out for a big budget flick. I bought the cd and then the dvd. I have one question, the movie is in memory of Stephen Bruton,playing guitar on the left of screen in this video. How and when did he pass? Im sure all the cast of this movie miss him greatly. thanks
@colinchick69 That is not Stephen in this video but you can search him and find many videos of him. He is an amazing singer/songwritter and muscian. Stephen performed with Kris Kristofferson for many years and his music is covered by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and many others.
Stephen died on May 9, 2009 of throat cancer.

Just saw this movie today. Jeff Bridges is amazing of course, Robert Duvall is always brilliant in his very natural and understated way, and Colin Farrell was a surprise choice for the part he played. He seemed to nail the American accent really well, and he didn't try to "take over" the movie. Such good casting, it was easy to see why such a relatively young Maggie Gyllenhaal would fall in love with a much older guy which made it believable. Best movie I've seen in a long time.

My great uncle David Carroll recently died and Jeff Bridges was sitting behind me at his memorial we actually kicked him off our family table because it was reserved haha sorry Jeff =).
A real move with real music, what more can you ask for, what a fantastic movie!! Great acting and singing by jeff bridges and colin farrell, A must see movie.

My great uncle David Carroll recently died and Jeff Bridges was sitting behind me at his memorial we actually kicked him off our family table because it was reserved haha sorry Jeff =).

@muse54 yes they both did there own singing you should watch it if you have it, check the end music credits at end of film preformance by both, might just watch it again tonight, enjoy!
