  • That would look amazing with like a dark blue Micarta handle

  • im very new to blade smithing and barely have my setup, but how do you put the black petina on the blade?

  • @suphomieg2 the black you see is from forging the steel..thank you..Matt

  • try to cut a paper on the thin side

  • could you make a tut for it. I just recently got my set up and i like that form of knife.

  • @dogbone222 Shoot me over a Message

  • THROWING KNIFE!

  • Looks really nice, that edge especially, it reminds me of my F1 when it came out of the box :P

  • @butcherer100 Thank you..

  • how do you do the perfect convexing?

  • @justyoustupid thank you...

  • I want it, except Im sure I cant afford it.

  • WOW ! :D

    VERY SHARP !

    ahhahaaahaha

  • @mlknives WOW that looks amazing man!!!! great job. I have a question. Where do you get a 1095 piece of steel and the leather handle wrap (I really need to know).

    Thanks,

  • that was so cool

  • This reminds me a lot of my Takach Ugly.

  • how much would you charge for a knife like this?

  • @phishydk shoot me over a message

  • @mlknives id like to know 2

  • oh wow when i saw the thumbnail it looked like it was hanging off a tree and it was hella big

  • That blade looks amazing:)

  • @Tagax88 Thank you

  • Knife is HAWT!

  • @anubis1335 thank you

  • you should use paracord instead of the leather its stronger and useful for emergencies

  • @duff835 This one was done as a traditional knife, leather holds up well

if oiled proper and taken care of.

  • @mlknives yea I know it does but in a million ways some paracord can come in handy and if you take it off and use it all you have to do is braid some more onto it.

  • @duff835

FOR GODS SAKE.... If you want paracord, KEEP A ROLL OF IT IN YOUR PACK! All this bracelet stuff is bordering on ridiculousness.

  • @ammosmoke Relax man, and I do keep some in my pocket, over 75 feet of it. It has a hook that clips to my belt then the braid that i put in my pocket then on the end it has the remote to my hidden camera in my hat.

  • @duff835

Sounds pretty badass. Not gonna lie. Lol nice retort.

  • @ammosmoke haha thanks

  • @duff835 ya you fucken idiot!

  • @rizzonator18 yea what?

  • @rizzonator18 how am I a (fucking) "fucken" idiot?

  • @duff835 because your a dumb fucking american! Your all fat!!!

  • @rizzonator18 I walk around at 140lbs is that fat?

  • @duff835 for an ugly American midget it is.

  • @rizzonator18 A legal midget is someone under four eleven I'm five foot five. I'm not a midget sorry.

  • @duff835 what do you american do with the illegal midgets? I didnt know you need a license to be a midget in america. You are an imperialist swine, you dirty american.

  • @rizzonator18 No I mean legally defined, not legally as in its legal to be one or not.

  • @duff835 you americans are stupid shit heads. how could you fine a midget for being how they were born.

  • @rizzonator18 No your the one not comprehending what I'm telling you, midgets don't get a fine for being small there defined as a midget for being small.

  • @duff835 Thats why i call you a midget. your a fat american illegal midget!

  • @rizzonator18 I understand your trying to troll me but It doesn't even make any logical cense at least try to be good at what your doing. I have already informed you I'm not fat, nor am I a midget.

  • @duff835 all i wanted to say was that you should mind you own business and dont tell the guy how to make a knife with paracord. he could have if he wanted to but he didnt because he's not an american.

  • @rizzonator18 I am 100% sure that his nationality had nothing to do with it, and It was just a suggestion you shouldn't get all worked up over a comment on youtube man, I'm not getting all worked up over your trolling I kinda find it amusing and look forward to your reply because it passes a few minutes of my time.

  • @duff835 its not his nationalit, its yours. and you started this whole thing. i honestly think we should be friends, what do you think?

  • @rizzonator18 I don't care its just the internet

  • @rizzonator18 I am a true American, born and raised here. I AM NOT FAT. it looks like you are among the many from many socialistic or communist countries that hate all americans. Well, I hate plenty of people, especially like you, who make idiotic comments like this. True, there are loads of lazy assed fat americans. But some of us actually love our country. Unfortunatly, there are so many here that are White Trash or Niggers who are ruining it. I am 6 ft. tall and 170 lbs. Not fat.

  • @superdave54811 And I am an artist, getting into blacksmithing. I love that there are so many people out there that do this kind of thing with their lives. I love the way this knife looks. I just made a dagger outta some very old "found" steel. However I can't stand seeing folks hating on others for no reason in this kind of forum. Thanks for posting this video MLKNIVES! you are awesome! Keep up the great work!!!

  • @superdave54811 I agree

  • @superdave54811 BULLSHIT! your dirty black fat fucken midget from Louisiana. Eat my russian asshole bitch. My army is better than your army! Suck on my dick. The only thing America is good at is getting in a recession. Here is a tip, invest in fast food you fat FUCK!

  • @superdave54811 hes just another troll

  • looks a bit like a throwing knife

  • @killayank34 LMFAO I was thinking the same thing haha

  • awsome

  • dude it i can tell its sharp bylooking at thw shiny part of the blade where its a differnt colur because its like very thin compered to the base of the blade and that you removed the colur from it showing its shapened

  • Good!)

  • Interestin lookin knife, sorta like a Becker necker hybrid or something :)

  • will you make a knife out of a chain or a steel cable please? ive heard they come out looking pretty amazing. thanks and great knife/vid.

  • @dannyjw123 Thank you..I dont work with either at the moment..Thanks for posting..Matt

  • @dannyjw123 ...If you want something from forged 1095 let me know.

  • @fire1169101 thank you

  • Beautiful blade man. Where'd you get it from?

  • @BRAWLERBOY66 Thank you. I am a full time knife maker, that is my work.

  • i read something about "damascus steel" it seamed like steel with a strange print, do you know how its made

  • @divineonenl Most damascuss steel made now a days is

layered or stacked steel..folded and pounded a certain amount of times

this is what makes the pattern in the blade..Sometimes

twisted together..This is the short version I am posting here, ..Just giving you a basic idea.

  • @mlknives soft and hard steel folded to 100-200 layers gives pattern and from 350-20 000 layers used witout pattern to make extra hard plades.

pattern cames up with sertain (acids)

  • @sa23041990 Thanks for posting..Your right the pattern does come out after the acid etch..

  • @fire1169101 Thank you.

  • i like using old wood or metal files. good tough steel.

  • @TheAbear360 I have used antique files they are good steel.

  • Nice looking knife! Where do you get your 1095 to start from? I'll be trying my hand at my first blade ever and need to find some. If thats too difficult I guess I'l resort to spring steel Thanks for your reply when possible

  • @Gtrsnax ..do a search on the net, there are different suppliers that sell

1095..pricing ranges..Spring steel such as antique leafe springs work

    well (5160)

  • beholderlt...I called the video this when I made this because the knife was

extremley sharp..prob should have showed that when I made it, I will

    do another in the future..

  • why would you call it extreme sharp if you don't even test the edge?

  • Sk8RJOSH94..I have been forging 1095 for years and it hold up fine with

simple care, There are still many custom makers and productions

knives that use this steel for may reasons. One being This steel holds up great

and can be re-sharpned real easy when needed in the field or at home..

small amount of Mineral oil on the steel does help protect it....Leather can also be protected with simple care. The particular design above is also being done currently

with an epoxy coat on the leather

  • carbon steel and leather? those don't go good together. leather holds in moisture and carbon steel rusts...

  • Thank you Dxcrist..

I could custom forge you one.

shoot me over an email from my website.

and we can discuss the details..

    Thanks again

    Matt

  • First of all Beautiful piece you have

Love that natural look of it

By the way could I buy one?

    Am season hunter/fisherman I would love to have one for my collection after I use em on the field 33° 0′ 0″ N, 65° 0′ 0″ E

33, 65 sorry about my location

    Can't wait to go home

  • Thank you DamienNeverWinter . Appreciate the post.

  • Gorgeous knife, excellently made. A real solid

    no frills number.

  • Hi LedZeppelin13k7:

Thank you for posting. I would be happy to make you one with a longer blade.

go to my website and hit the contatc button and we can go through email.

    I appreciate the kind words..

  • I'm a Marine Infantryman, and I was wondering how much would it cost to have a blade made like that one just about 2 or 3 inches longer? I would love to have one for my next deployment. You just can't beat handmade and I love the primitive look of it.

  • Thank you anestis 1971

  • Very nice. Good job!

  • Thank you Caveman. I have been told many times that my prices are more than fair,

If you check the prices of many makers my prices are below what others are charging for what my work is. look around a bit and see what I mean. Also most knife makers are not becoming rich making knives for a living. Especially making full time, but if they are that is why we live in a free market. Running any small busines takes 24-7 detication and sacrafice and I can assure nothing is for free.

  • great knife, I checked out your website and I like the expanded array of blade designs and handles. I wont criticize you on how to run your business or even how to do your craft, but I will say that with those kind of prices, myself and others would do better to make our own and since I do make alot of my own knives I apparently could make a fortune with your prices. I do this as a hobby and have made dozens and simply give them to local people in my hometown. Keep up the good work.5/5

  • Thank you. TheCelticknights I make knives with wooden handles

all the tiime. If you take a look at my wesbite you can take a look

    thanks again

    Matt

  • Great Knife. Very cool look. Thanks for posting.

  • Its a nice size knife, thank you for posting

  • Like the in hand shot. It is bigger than I first thought.

  • Hi Virihaure:

    Thank you.

Almost any handle material can be used for my forged work, have a look at my website, I have used many different materials...

    Matt

  • That's a good looking knife but I don't think the handle match the blank at all, it looks far to cheap. Would it be to hard to make a nice handle for it? it would make it look so much better. Please dont take this as criticism, I like the knife but want it to look even better.

  • Matt has be making knives for over a decade ..... thousands with handles in other materials.

  • Thank you L10159517

    Matt
