I was in DIVARTY 84-86, no payday muster anymore. But if it makes you feel any better in '85 we did a unit exchange with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and they brought a piper. It was awesome seeing them marching down Gruber with the pipes screaming out the tune.

I'm not a Scot, I'm Norse, and truthfully sometimes Highlanders give me a cramp but throughout history they have always been some of the finest warriors on the face of the earth. Try Colin Campbell and "93rd there is no retreat from here". Or the best mercenaries in Gustav Adolph's magnificent army that smashed the Holy Roman Empire or heck any number of campaigns with the British army from Burma to Waterloo. I dunno, just tough bastards i guess,.

You want to know why because that is where we came from we will never try to pretend differently. And at least we have the decency to respect others. And BTW Haggis isn't eaten much in canada unless you are from scotland so i don't what your talking about because we have never claimed that the bagpipe originated here.

I believe even today, the few kilted-regiments of the Canadian Army still have pipe bands and use the same tunes as the Scottish regiments of the British Army.

It is said that Canada was born under a French Lys, grew up under the english roses and mature under its proud maple leaf.

@dragonblud1 In fact there is only a few reserve regiments in Canada that wear the kilt. Myself, I am not from scottish origins but from french origins. So our regiments tradition are very diversified depending the origin of the people that first raised them.
