GT5 is out to make money and like it or not the most popular race series in the world is NASCAR. Now I'm not a NASCAR fan but ignoring that demographic would be stupid and obviously they can't have all 40+ NASCAR cars, then that would restrict the amount of other cars in the game.
Because it's so popluar in the US? How bout adding a few classic muscle cars instead,This crap seems like filler.I know that NASCAR and muscle cars history is intertwined but still NASCAR just sucks.

Too bad the NASCAR part of it kinda sucks. Engine sounds are nowhere near "real". The driving is very "arcade" like. Drive on Daytona in the Gordon driving "school" and you'll see what I mean. 220mph at Daytona? Please...

Saying driving in circles is easy is a gross understatement,oval track racing is very hard. NASCAR always enacts rules that try to shift the balance towards making drivers, not the equipment, the determining factor in a race. They purposely use narrow slicks and small rear wings for little downforce so vehicles have a tremendous amount of oversteer. It gets more difficult since racing is always bumper to bumper and opponents slipstreams affects handling constantly.
I really think nascar is great, represents american culture by doing the sports an opportunity for every team, here in europe they became picky and doing so with soo many personal desitions are ruining the sport.
Jesus people this is "Gran Turismo 5" not "NASCAR 5". Chill out with all your inaccuracies, these people put nearly seven years into a game, and all you're worried about is making a wide left turn.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the racing, but if you want perfect, play one of the NASCAR games.
@jemyp92 yeah, i want to buy gt5 more because it has nascar... but the down side is is that there are only9 cars and a lot of like... fantasy drivers that drive cars with the same sponcers as the regular nascar drivers, but i really hope the have at least 10-15 nascar tracks... but they might not

omg im not american but how can you think its more boring than real motorsport? its way more dangerous with cars always going at 200mph and its not just turning left all the time they do road courses with massively high speed turns where you could spin the car and die at any time. its about keeping the car stable at speed, drafting and overtaking. if you think about it normal racing it boring, its at slow speeds too slow to draft and slow corners. BTW i am not a nascar fan

im not a nascar fan either, but i live in usa, and nascar does suck. their fans are racist and its so boring, just left turn after left trun and the cars are slow, average speed is like 180 mph. F1 is more better too bad i cant watch it anywhere. but have seen it before, and it is WAY better than nascar

I'm very excited about the inclusion of NASCAR. EA hasn't put out a good NASCAR game in a long time, it's about time they had some serious competition. Compiling all styles of racing into one game like all types of soccer/football into Fifa is an idea GT should run with. It would be amazing.
F1, GP2, F3000, and Le Mans are all the best in my opinion, although I am a NASCAR fan as well, But I don't know how it will work in GT5. All cars? all tracks? Plus they probably wont feel right at GT tracks and road courses. However,Kazunori Yamauchi is an utter genius so i'm happy with what ever he decides on. Can't wait till February.

Cool how GT5 will get a +90% fresh rating featuring Nascars when it comes out. But all the past Nascar games from EA received 60%-70%. And this will be GT5's first time to require Nascars.

let me revise this. gt5 will most likely include nascars, and not keep them as a game on its own. therefore, gt5 with nascar cars will be an exclusive, but if they make a nascar game on its own, it will be multiplatform. go look it up on gameinformer if you don't believe me. it says, "Nascar's deal with sony is not exclusive, and that's the way nascar wants it to stay."

Give credit to Yamauchi on putting a bunch of very different motorsports series in GT5. From NASCAR, F1, WRC, various sports car series (Le Mans, Super GT, etc), each one takes a completely different mindset on doing. Personally, GT5 will be perfect for me if they include one car, the Visteon livery Panoz Roadster that raced at Le Mans '99
I hope that GT5 will include a boatload of Ferraris, particularly the FXX. I also want to see the ZR1 and maybe even Cadillac (CTS-V!!!!) Oh and the Lexus LF-A would be a nice upgrade from the IS-F. The V-12 Vanquish, Camaro, Challenger, 2010 Mustang, and of course all the cars from previous GT games, including GT5P.

Nice interview, but i still wish they'd focus they're time on some other *new* motorsport, or even just more cars and tracks...NASCAR really is boring for me, no matter what spin you put on it.
By the way, Gran Turismo is not always the best. I am glad they're having NASCAR on Gran Turismo 5. NASCAR is just more than left turns for 200 laps, there are tracks like Infineon and Watkins Glen.

The trailer does show drag racing in it... but I cannot be sure.

Just look at the last couple seconds and you will see Formula cars dragging at the end.

Cool how GT5 will get a +90% fresh rating featuring Nascars when it comes out. But all the past Nascar games from EA received 60%-70%. And this will be GT5's first time to require Nascars.

another revise. sony only has it for ps3 and psp, while different developers get it for pc like iracing and a stand alone sim in the works (for a deal with a company) and there are rumors that monster games is possible going to be the xbox game maker, but nothing confirmed. so there is a nascar game for everyone.

let me revise this. gt5 will most likely include nascars, and not keep them as a game on its own. therefore, gt5 with nascar cars will be an exclusive, but if they make a nascar game on its own, it will be multiplatform. go look it up on gameinformer if you don't believe me. it says, "Nascar's deal with sony is not exclusive, and that's the way nascar wants it to stay."

as a driver there is more to it then just racing other comp and changing tires its all about spotter to driver com.
and car to driver com.
the heat and light changes around the track

and unless you drive cockpit view
drivers dont really know whose in their blind spots unless the spoter warnz

Give credit to Yamauchi on putting a bunch of very different motorsports series in GT5. From NASCAR, F1, WRC, various sports car series (Le Mans, Super GT, etc), each one takes a completely different mindset on doing. Personally, GT5 will be perfect for me if they include one car, the Visteon livery Panoz Roadster that raced at Le Mans '99

I hope that GT5 will include a boatload of Ferraris, particularly the FXX. I also want to see the ZR1 and maybe even Cadillac (CTS-V!!!!) Oh and the Lexus LF-A would be a nice upgrade from the IS-F. The V-12 Vanquish, Camaro, Challenger, 2010 Mustang, and of course all the cars from previous GT games, including GT5P.

By the way, Gran Turismo is not always the best. I am glad they're having NASCAR on Gran Turismo 5. NASCAR is just more than left turns for 200 laps, there are tracks like Infineon and Watkins Glen.
