  • I LOVE THIS SONG! I played this song in 6th grade but with the high school all county band concert, in my first year of band. I had the clarinet solos (since i play clarinet). It sounded exactly like this. :)

  • WHAT JUST HAPPENED?????

  • The tambourine player is thumb rolling like a boss at 4:30

  • electric bass??? 1:12????

  • @gnamus Yes, but he did not play a note in this piece.

  • Excellent rendition! And the violin soloist is excellent too!

  • @Triosfrios Thank you :)

  • This orchestra executes this song flawlessly

  • @St0ryL4nd :)

  • Absolutely amazing piece! My orchestra are playing this in Summer, but I'm going to be away :( I'm utterly devastated!

  • Last summer at orchestra camp, the harp scale things at 6:35 were played by the first chair, and we made them the theme song for "The League of Dorks", a coalition of first violin superheroes/villains. (My name was Mistress Lynx...)

  • in the fourth piece why dont the trombones play with the trumpets in the very begining? is that just band only music?

  • We played all the movements except for the forth for Region Orchestra. We played it at this speed andd it was soo fun to play.

  • This piece NEVER EVER gets old. God I love Rimsky-Korsakov.

  • Bravo!! Bravisimo Puerto Rico!! Magnifica pieza clasica. Muchas Gracias.

  • whats the time signature at 2:30 in the piece?

  • @jdbmcdermet 6/8 time.

  • i'm playing the 4th one in my high school orchestra- well a version of it. This was cool :)

  • @mouiygirl Thank you and good luck...

  • Loved the performance. The solos felt a little rushed. After the first violin solos the pizzicato sounds better almost late. 6:53 I would love to find the violin that glissandoed the harmonics. They stuck out like a sore thunb.

  • haha we played this last week and epically failed!! good job though 5*

  • I assure you he's not playing A-flat. :P Just a normal A. If anything, the flute itself is a bit flat.

  • exactly, a bit flat, on purpose?

  • I'm playing it next week, so I'm just checking. ;)

  • Fantastic!

  • Thank you, once again.

  • Perfect!!!!!

  • Thank you!!!!

  • Beautiful piece! My favorite! I think some notes should have been held longer, however, nicely done!!!!!!!!!! Great cadenza, definetely! I'll have to learn it someday!

  • i'm playing this friday for symphony. lol

  • beautifal piece!! Though the string at 2:58 to 3:08 was pretty bad. It was out of tune and was not matching at all. Overall, awesome orchestra except i was not really liking the tone quality of the oboe in this orchestra

  • Thank you, for your comment.

  • me encanta este acto

  • Gracias!!!

  • What's the clarinetist's name?

  • Kathleen Jones

  • The solos on this is very very tough, but sounds amazing. Do you know the people in that orchestra?

  • Yes I know most of them, also I'm the one playing triangle. Thank you for your comment.

    :)

  • @davimerc

serious? Fantastic job mate. Sounds great, wish I could have been there

  • Very impressive. I have a recording of this on an old record that was very good. However, I unfortunately am at college and unable to listen to my family's record player. I'm glad that I have found such an excellent recording of Capriccio Espagnol that I can listen to anytime. Thank you for posting!

  • And Thank you, for your comment.

  • And for the record, it's played very well here. It brought the film scene to mind very vividly.

  • Thank you!!!

  • There is a scene in the Almodovar film "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" that is absolutely made to live by this piece of music.

  • bravo!

  • Thank you!!!

  • Purely amazing, I tried to play this fast and failed.

  • Keep trying...

  • Oooo the harmonic! Nice work. I love this piece, played it for regional orchestra when I was in high school. Has a special place in my heart :)

  • Thank you!!!

  • this peice is sooo cool! i got into this high school districts orchestra and im in 7th grade. this was fun to play

  • Thank you!!!

  • fantastic!! well done guys, nice, straight, direct but expressive without being sentimental. Loved it!!

  • Thank you!!!!

  • Overall ok, but not the greatest, and not worth going on cd. No feeling expressed in this rendition. Sense the compartmentalism of the strings at 2:45 and throughout the piece by other sections of the orchestra. Notice how chopped it sounds beginning at 5:48 and then 6:54. Too much competition heard between the brass and strings, starting from 7:48, perc including cymbals were definitely on point.

  • Thank you, for your comment.

  • @jepcorp, either you are very well versed on the score and on Rimsky Korsakov, or don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about. Honestly, I can't tell myself, but I think this performance is great!! Despite those points you mark. :)

  • Marvelous! Thanks for posting this. :D

  • Youre welcome.

  • Trumpet player got ownt at the beginning.

  • I love playing this.

  • Thank you!!!

  • Extraordinaria esta Sinfonica Boricua...!!! saludos desde el Peru

  • Muchas gracias!!!

  • Can you tell me what's time the fifth movement begin? from 03:10?

    I can't distinguish it

  • Is on 6/8 time.

  • thanks

  • Your Welcome.

  • Ok... I don't care if I get thumbs-ed down, that principal clarinet player really, really isn't professional calibre at all.

  • can you link a particular spot?

  • 1:54, the cadenza. I've heard juniors in high school play that part more musically than that.

  • I have to play this trumpet quasi-cadenza for an honor orchestra that I am playing in in 2 days! Thanks for posting this :)

  • Parabéns a mim

  • im searching for the 1 by kirill kondrashin. do u have any idea where i can possibly find it?

  • Sorry, Im afraid not.

  • one of the bests ever

  • Thank you!!

  • A little disappointing the violins didn't play their instruments like guitars in that pizz passage at the end of the canto, like they're directed to in the parts! Oh well...

  • Quasi guitara doesn't mean hold the instrument like a guitar; it means to strum with the middle finger and the thumb pinched together across the strings while holding the instrument up.

  • Ah... I didn't know what the actual instruction read, sorry. I only heard by word of mouth. Although "pizzicato quasi guitara", if that's the complete instruction, literally "plucked as a guitar" could be interpreted in different ways hehe...

  • Best song ever!

  • my orchestra played this for contest submission :)

im gonna post it up soon

i already have frolicsome finale on it

  • awesome i love this

  • bravo!

  • Gracias!!!

  • Simplesmente lindo! Perfeito! Maravilhoso!!! :')

  • Gracias!!!

  • hahaha its funny when the camera moves to someone who is just about to finish =D

  • That flautist's posture is atrocious! How sinful.

The performance was AMAZING, however! Woo hoo!

  • the first trumpet screwed up the first triplet of the trumpet duet.... pretty bad...

  • Yea I love this song too! I played the first flute part, dude did it pretty good, but yea the posture sucks lol. Our brass kept screwing up the cadenza I was soo pissed at them lol. Otherwise, totally amazing vid :)

  • oboe and flute are too loud in the cello solo...and ehm...why is an electric bass there??? :O anyway it's a good performance, bravi!

  • Thank you for your comment. The reason for the electric bass is because the orchestra played some pop songs; this is a television show concert. But no, he did not play on Caprricio. The oboe & flute are in my opinion are well balanced the only problem is... this is a T.V. studio big orchestra, maybe that's the problem.

  • Capriccio Espangnol makes the 16 most awesome minutes of my life.

  • I agree :)

  • the flutist.. his posture is terrible. i cringe every time he appears on the video.

Other than that, it sounds decent although I would prefer it if that lady's head wasn't in the way during the cello solo >.>

  • Some of the postures are a little hard to believe, but I'm more concerned how they look so bored!! When I play this song, I get so into the moment. These people have the must-play-because-this-is-my-job look, which is true, but can't they feel the excitement?

  • My orchestra, YOPBC Symphony Orchestra, played this song this year. Although, we only played Fandango and Alborada. Very nice song.

  • we (J.T. Hutchinson MS) played the 3rd and 4th for strings only (4th and 5th orchestral) and we sounded much better (in my non-biuos opinion if that;s possibele (dunno if i spelled bious right)

  • freelink34, bias I think you're trying to say.

I've heard the all strings version, and it's great, but you can't deny some of the fantastic timbres and effects that the brass, winds and percussion give! I mean, what about the harp candenza??? And the trombone soli at the start and towards the end of Fandango?

  • we played the fandango and Alborada (the third movement) and we sounded nowhere as good as you guys! great job!

  • Thank you.

  • Sorry, it was a little hard to see, and I was well aware that he wasn't playing...I just did not expect to find one in this orchestra.

  • anyone notice the electric guitar at 1:14?! O.o

  • Is not an electric guitar is a bass and he's not playing.

  • this sounds great but I agree that the cadenza's on the wind side are rather lacking, what you must remember though is that many of these solos are up for interpretation, thats the way it was written.

  • Thank you for your comment. I agree 100%.

  • Incredible emotions

  • I have now watched the ending almost 10 times. Every time I discover something new. And every time the entire piece becomes more beautiful.

  • How could he think this piece through? One of the most precious 5 minutes in my life

  • The ultimate finale!

  • You are so right, thank you.

  • this is good, though the wind solos could have been better: notably the flute and clarinet solos. But way to go Violin...

  • I agree,thank you.
