Thank you for posting this. I am a 24 year old who will be taking viola lessons in about a month, so I'm interested to see how your progress goes. I was interested in violin first, but I fell in love with the viola's sound. :)
I've just found your videos on youtube and am looking forward to viewing them. I have just ordered a viola and am waiting for it to arrive. I've decided to learn it to keep my 40something brain young! Kudos to you! And look, Kitty is not afraid to enter the room, so you can't be that bad on the viola!
Thanks for posting these basic exercises for viola. Yes there is hardly anything for self teaching of viola on web. What is the book you mention? bee good to have shots of finger positions etc for absolute beginners. Thanks again.
I have been using the Müller Rusch books mostly. I'm using book 2, and I have been starting into book 3, but it introduces shifting and I'm not ready for that. I really like this method. I use some other books too, such as exercises from Suzuki method book 1. Yeah, I'm a beginner, posting beginning exercises. I have been more concerned about my bowing but I could record my fingers I suppose. My bowing is still wonky, so I have to get that under control.
You should listen to the Viola sonates from Shostakovich opus 147 (first movement) it will inspire you alot!
