Does Stuff Stephanie In The Incinerator have a DVD release, cause that would be a nice one to see.
OH SHIT, you haven't seen Police Story!? They are full of Jackie Chan awesomeness. My personal favorite of his is Rumble In The Bronx. :3
Another great video. I need to find some motivation to do a video, but I've been too strung up in school and music, but I have still been buying DVD's and tapes occassionally.
Hey Mitch, yeah I'm pretty sure Stuff Stephanie has a DVD release here. And as for Police Story, I did watch it the other week and it was hilarious fun, I loved it! Yet to watch the sequel. That and the China O'Brien flicks were great in the 90s.
I know what you mean about motivation to do vids, it takes more time than what I have spare at the mo!
That Island of Dr. Moreau daybill is great, the artwork is striking and the colors are fantastic, very underrated. A buddy of mine was in the first Human Centipede, and it has been getting a great response in Japan, it is a shame that other countries are stifling it. Great video.
I wish I could say I was close to sourcing an FWF title, but I'm afraid I've never ever seen one in my life. But you never know. If so, I'll be able to re-do the PBV logos vid in its entirety, including a new Playaround logo I found.
Hey buddy! Great to hear from you :) Hope you have a new update in the works, and that the dodgy camera came back from mainland China or where-ever the hell in one piece..
Def no shame these days, will happily barge into a sex shop in peak hour. The Pornbrokers will never get re-released, so bid the dizzy heights on ebay for it.
I'm happy though. Unlike those cranky old bastards at Top End. They won't close. What else could they do? Work for the Ashton circus?
I actually already have shown off the Filmways titles that were a K-Tel co-brand, as well as some on PBV, bearing in mind they managed a whole set of labels (Star Video, Playaround, MGM/UA etc). But others are in the works, all in good time.
I think I'd have over 1000 tapes now, rough estimate. It's madness. Thanks for the kudos :)
Great to hear you'll be back Matt! No doubt you've been flat out lately. Well I think I was inspired to get some tapes organised after seeing yours. But still heaps stored away but will be sorted once I sell up and but a new place.
I bet you've never seen so many dirty movies so clean lol.
My nifty little Japanese cabinet stores the cream of the Palace and Roadshow crop for sure! It is a piece I'll never part with; the rest will go on book shelves once I get a place big enough to organise it.
No I never saw Best Worst Movie, but it's given me a great idea for a new vid to make on here, esp with some of my old trashy tapes that have limited or no DVD releases. I think I'll do just that actually.
That movie Descent was supposed to be on SciFi channel tonight and I checked to make sure it was this exact film and it was and they totally never showed it! I guess it would be edited though, so no point in watching the tv version anyways.
Paperhouse I haven't seen that one since renting it when it was on home video, but it's a great one. "Lesbian, Homo and Animals!?" That's kind of amazing. Nice being lumped into the beastiality genre. :)
Killer collection Darron. JOY has Sharon Mitchell!
Wow what false advertising ion SciFi channel! I doubt it would ever show uncut, not here anyway unless it was on the World Movies channel which doesn't censor these types of movies.
Many have spoken fondly of Paperhouse, so it is a cheap tape I'll definitely check out soon.
Thanks for the kudos on the collection! It is 15 years worth of mad keen collecting, with the cream of it in that darn cabinet alone lol.
IKEA should totally make a "Shogun" cabinet like that which art school skints like myself could afford. But it would probably be given more Umlauts for marketing purposes. Can't let James Clavell's estate sue you for trademark infringement now can we?
Cool that you have the Ralph Bakshi tapes, I've seen interviews with that guy on Youtube, that poor man spent his life getting no recognition for what he did. He's like Terry Gilliam, but with animation instead of dead actors.
I think IKEA could learn a lot about the way the Japanese did their furniture! Compact, practical and easy to transport. Mind you, their flat pack way of buying things is pretty practical.
As for poor Bakshi, he certainly lives on in the minds of those who care :) I'm not sure what sort of recognition he was looking for, but having the first X-rated cartoon can't be taken away. Like Russ Meyer having the first X film. Legends!!
Really great video, Darron. The daybills are lovely - "Scream and Die" is awesome! I didn't know there was a sequel to "Silk"! Some of those Applause releases will be worth a few quid soon. Loooove the shelf unit. I managed to swipe a proper one from Trash Video's basement and just have A & B of my collection on it. 90% is still boxed up! Would love some of those tapes you've got in there! :)
I don't know about you, but I sometimes have a freakout about how many tapes I have with so little room! But I don't care, some people collect books and crap, so it's all good. Yeah there are some good tapes in the cabinet thing. Over the years I've been asked time and time again about parting with certain titles, but I'd only do that if a vibrant I wanted was traded.
BTW the two Silk films are absolute garbage but fantastic fun!!
I like what your doing with those shelves, I have all my stuff sitting in boxes right now. Roadshows and palace titles look great together, ah ha theres manhunt (I've also ggot that game when i heard the government was banning it). The problem i have with collecting vhs is now no longer they can be found cheap and unless you hit gold at a flea market I really dont wanna spend a fortune. great vid mate!!
Shit I got so much in boxes right now too. I'll have to buy a bigger place lol! I've started to notice that the Salvos and Vinnies stores have jack shit rare stuff lately. People have started to cotton on I suspect. Check out the smaller more obscure stores, like St Marks and other little church ones instead. I don't want to pay huge unless it's a super rare title, especially a Vibrant. Thanks for the kudos mate :)
The bbfc are far behind us in classification terms, unbelievable how they can tell adults what they can view (now even with the internet around). Great looking daybills, even though some movies can be crap the daybills end up being amazing. Death curse art looks fantastic. The house where evil dwells looks particularly good, especially when they are full colour. Good vhs pickups, nothing more I love then some b grade sci fi by the looks of space avenger.
I agree about some of the daybills! Funnily enough, the most obscure titles often have the best art, and are the cheapest. It was quite common for those titles to only have duo or tri colour designs, so it's all good. Man I watched Space Avenger again after all these years, it is z-grade trash and had me in hysterics! I should do a vid on my fave VHS trash and weave in a few scenes from the films. Twice Under and Banished Women would make the cut too!
"The Pornbrokers" looks excellent. I love period docos, and there's no better way to get a handle on a culture at a specific moment in time than to look at how they look at sex. I'd love to get my hands on that. ahem, to coin a phrase.
The Pornbrokers was an interesting time capsule into hardcore porn as it stood in Europe in 1973. It started about John Lindsay in the UK, he could do hardcore legally, but could only sell it outside of the UK. They interviewed the man that started Private magazine, and went on a German and Danish hardcore film set. Sadly it will never be able to be re-released unless about 40 minutes were cut out, for reasons I'm afraid I can't explain to you!
thats much effort on packaging peter gunn tv-movie by blake edwards, checked that i do have that film on one dirt-cheap dvd-set full of so&so-actionfilms, have that silk on vhs ,easy to get in here, yes its made by famous cirio h santiago, watched a bit and looked cheesy enough to keep. coverpic on the spine is always cool, those days they really know how to design these. nice shelves, two-deep is way to keep, but that quick introduction leaves me and maybe others cry out for more!
I wish I had more room in my place to put more movies on display, but at the moment there is not. So many are stored away. As for Silk, it is not an easy film to find here anymore. Many of these only got limited release. Cool cover for Peter Gunn, but it looks like crap movie! I watched Space Avenger again, it is so bad, but it is fantastic. I have an idea for doing a video picking a selection of VHS trash in my collection and putting scenes from them into it.
I'd seen Exterminators before years ago, but it was a tape that I'd been wanting to add to the Roadshow collection for quite a while, which was great to do at last.
The glory days of home video will never die as long as I make videos. I just miss the old fashioned days of the video store. DVD stores are not the same.
Poor old Marg and Dave are getting a bit old! I been watching them since their days on SBS. They are more fussy in their old age now. They can't enjoy big blockbuster movies like most normal people.
Haha "piece of shit and I loved it", can totally relate there! Twice Under looks mad. The Dark Side of the Moon cover looks AMAZING! Must look for that! Peter Gun cover is interesting but yeh looks awful haha. Want your Timesweep! Paperhouse is meant to be good, DVD on Magna Pacific and deleted. Hellgate is on $2 Flashback DVD here. Arrrgh so want your Blood Tracks!!! Silk 1 and 2 look CRAPTASTIC indeed! Amazing to finally see some of your collection too! Gorgeous and I'm very jealous.
Sorry I didn't mean to provoke any jealousy here! But you know I have been collecting for nearly 15 years, so the collection is pretty big now. Most of these acquired when they were going for cheap about 10 years ago.
Maybe it's just my old age, but the crapper a 70s or 80s flick, the better. Dark Side of the Moon in particular was weird crap, I loved it. Timesweep even more bizarre. Late 80s were a strange time for B movies! I want to watch more of them lol.
Darron, I always enjoy your videos mate! You pick up the coolest stuff! I agree with you on the rape scene in Descent...yikes that was uncomfortable! Awesome artwork on those Daybills! Always enjoy seeing the VHS tapes too! Take care buddy.
Thanks for the awesome comment Wes! Yeah that rape scene in Descent was horrible. From memory it went more than 10 minutes non-stop, it was an endurance.
I noticed that Paperhouse has a UK dvd release. And it has positive press quotes on the cover. It looks pretty promising so will get to that one soon I think. Only $1 for that old tape, bargain!
I swear I'd be sending a complaint email or two to the BBFC! And for them to even say it might breach obscenity laws just shows they don't want the director to even bother to appeal. What a disgrace. Oh well, just get the uncut version on import, easy done.
@AussieRoadshow I was fucking fuming when I found out haha. And yeah, will definitely get an import. Just the principle of banning a film for fucking adults pisses me off haha. Sorry to rant on your vid though man, take it easy and was a sweet upload!
No I totally understand the frustration. The news even got an article in our local papers! They are a bunch of hypersensitive cunts who use dumb laws to censor shit, especially 'animal cruelty' and sexual violence. Hell, they couldn't even pass two old Aussie sexploitation films (Fantasm) from the 70s in late 2010 because of some tame fake rape scenes. What a stupid joke they are.
@AussieRoadshow Jesus! I haven't actually checked to see if it's been banned anywhere else. Not heard of Fantasm, but I've seen and heard of some other films they've banned that are just absolutely ridiculous.
Awesome daybills :) Domino is definitely CRAP, hahaha, i also had the Finnish ShowTime rental tape, but i gave it to one of friends who really wanted to see Brigitte's tits hahaha :D Fantastic collection of VHS tapes mate!!
Thanks a lot, I love the old daybills. Man that is the ONLY reason to sit through Domino is for Brigette tits! Nothing else good to say about it. Might get rid of my own copy, it is a waste of space haha.
'Blood Moon' was shot at the high school I went to in Brisbane one year prior to me starting there, I remember renting it as soon as it came out on video and was bitterly disappointed. Actually picked up the UK DVD release a couple years back and as horrible as the movie is I've got a nostalgic soft spot for it.
So much stuff covered in this twelve minutes I'm going to have to watch it again sometime this week. Great update, Man :)
It's a pretty random update today, I prefer to keep them under 10 minutes, but you know... Got heaps of new vids from others to catch up on myself, being sick in bed and all this week lol.
Yeah Blood Moon was shit. The Umbrella DVD is M rated, so not sure what the story is there. We really don't make good horrors in Australia. We should stick to road movies, we do them well.
@AussieRoadshow From memory the UK DVD was 15 so no doubt Madman sourced the same master given it was PAL. Just looked it up on the Australian classification databse and it's listed as 'M' having been rated on 15/02/1990 off a 35mm print obviously for the theatrical release but no mention of an 'R' for the old Applause/Roadshow video release, odd eh.
The R rated version is on there, you have to check the adult/RC box and do a search that includes games and mags before you see it as it is the only way you get all the results for some reason. It was given R in Jan that year. The VHS box says 'Warning: graphic, uncut, never before seen version'. Someone would need to do a side by side comparison of the tape vs DVD I guess to see what's missing. In any case, the tape is collectible I reckon :)
@AussieRoadshow Of course, I'm a dick. Very interesting. I wonder if anyone will ever do a side by side comparison, I'm guessing not. Just noticed that Accent got 'A Serbian Film' passed last month under a modified version, not sure what your take on the movie is but personally I thought it a piece of shit.
I guess I could do the comparison, but you know, not a pressing priority right now. Will get the local DVD and see. The violence in the R version wouldn't get R these days I don't think.
As for A Serbian Film, it's not on my must see list and doesn't sound promising. It sounds cheap and wanna-be-controversial crap. Having said that, I would refuse to watch the cut version and would wait for an unrated or perhaps an uncut Euro release if available cheaply.
@AussieRoadshow The fate of humanity (if humanity were a 'Blood Moon' VHS/DVD side by side comparison) rests in your hands and I think I may be the only one who cares :)
AWESOME COLLECTION!!!! I've gotten into collecting more rare tapes recently so maybe someday I can have as big of a collection as you! Beautiful Japanese furniture too l0l :)
Thanks man I appreciate the kudos! Well I been collecting for nearly 15 years now, so the collection is huge, it's ridiculous. I recommend Japanese furniture by the way, it is well designed lol.

@rondontori13
Thanks a lot, I love the old daybills. Man that is the ONLY reason to sit through Domino is for Brigette tits! Nothing else good to say about it. Might get rid of my own copy, it is a waste of space haha.

Awesome video buddy and I am looking forward to The Human Centitpede 2 because I really enjoyed the first film.

I can't wait for Human Centipede 2! The BBFC said it was potentially obscene under UK law. What better publicity could a movie have lol.

Great daybill pick-ups, Darron :)

@CarryTheZero1980

CarryTheZero1980 8 months ago
@CarryTheZero1980

CarryTheZero1980 8 months ago
@CarryTheZero1980

CarryTheZero1980 8 months ago
@CarryTheZero1980
Oh my god, the pressure! Actually I'm kinda curious meself now, so might just do that.

@AussieRoadshow well if you need a willing victim to join you, I'll bring the DVD and a slab.

Thanks man I appreciate the kudos! Well I been collecting for nearly 15 years now, so the collection is huge, it's ridiculous. I recommend Japanese furniture by the way, it is well designed lol.
