just discovered NAthan Fake. Listened to a few tracks. I quite like them. quite interesting. Like the interesting drum beat in this song which kind of sounds like dust ona record player! but it works very well.

on a open air party with my best female friend during this track were played - i was sitting in some kind of rocking chair right in the midday sun while a light wind whispers through the trees which surrounded us - she danced a few meters in front of me between the other party people - then she turned around, looked at me... and began to smile...

it hits me like a high-speed-train right in my face....

in that very small moment i fell in love...

I don't know, I want to like his music, but for some reason it sounds musically off in some parts. Its like if I could edit his songs some of them would not require the blips and blops and lyrics, for example, for this song too. I think it honestly doesn't need it, I think that's what bothers me; off tempo beats in some points and the offness in some of his songs. He gots it, but off in a way... I guess not aesthetically sound I suppose.

His music is never perfectly syncopated, that's what gives it it's rawness. He doesn't follow the exact same rules that a lot of producers tend to, and that's what makes his music stand out.

True. Taking risk is a big part of making it in the music industry. Though I love the ironic take of how the music industry is: transforming a new risk into an old risk. If that makes sense.

@WaffusSyrup i even think nathan fake cant do it differently. thats his style, thats what makes nathan fake the person he is and what people love about him. i think it is way harder producing music that is slightly off-sync and yet still sounds good than following known formulas and doing everything clean and "sterile".

of course... that 'off-beat'-thing is a stylistic device which is often used in chill-out tracks... try to combinate with 'straight beats'... u'll gain nice results =)
