  • Sorry, Austin, I missed this the first time round. Some first class photography there, specially the third clip - the light there was really stunning. . . . . . . .Alan

  • No need to apologise Alan, you can't watch everything. That third clip you mention was about the only one out of around ten run pasts that we managed to get a bit of half decent light.

  • Great Steam Gala! Fantastic Video. :)

  • Thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it

  • thanks very much, I thought it was one of their best galas, decent weather helped of course

  • wonderful mate, fast and furious, the super D was impressive, triple header was cute, loved it all, the sound you get is great, inspiring reminiscence of a bygone era, lovely, thanks very much. I guess 45231's cylinders needed warming up in the cold morning air.

  • Cheers Leon, it was a good gala and great to see the Super D which is there until January.

  • It's wonderful, a real masterpiece. Everything is perfect, the locations, the quality of shots, light, sound. Thank you so much Austin. One of the best videos I've watched. A big thank you. Friendships. Philippe

  • Merci beaucoup Philippe. C'était un changement agréable de film sur une journée ensoleillée!

  • Thanks for these great shots Austin. Although it's nice to see the littl'uns given a decent workload I particularly enjoyed the chance to see and hear 49395 - something I've not managed "in the flesh". Thought the Standard Tank looked very smart too though I wonder why the cylinder end plates seemed unpainted. Chris

  • Thanks Chris, like you the Super D had eluded me until the recent NYMR gala and I only managed one shot there so it's nice to have her close to home. She is at the ELR until January I believe, so you should get a few chances to see her. I hadn't noticed the unpainted end plates on 80080 until you mentioned it.

  • It sounds as if 45231 is still having hissy fits with its cylinders

  • Yes, something we could have done without, especially for the morning freight runs.

  • Most enjoyable compilation Austin the triple header in the afternoon sun won it for me with the variety of colours, Thanks for sharing your footage I can now see what I missed.

    Regards Phil.

  • Thanks Phil, the triple header seems to have been the popular choice of everyone judging by the comments. It was a pretty good gala and I set myself the challenge of not trespassing on the railway

  • Lovely footage!! The triple header steals the show for me. Excellent filming.

  • Thanks, it seems that was everyones favourite!

  • some fantastic shots! the super D at speed is a fine sight

  • Thanks, yes she looked very impressive I thought. I believe she will be used on the freight charter in January all being well.

  • Excellent vid Austain loved the triple header..went for it myself but did not reailse they were taken one off at Ramsbottom...must take a good look at the timetable next time..thanks Steve..

  • Cheers Steve, I would have missed it myself but decided to go back to Burrs for the last few shots in the afternoon sun, glad I did now.

  • Great Video! Love the Super D - Can't wait for KWVR Winter Gala with Super D & Coal Tank!

  • Thank you, the thought of that pair coming up the bank from Keighley makes the mouth water!

  • Great video. Could watch it for hours, except I'm told I have gardening to do. I'm not familiar with the blue and cream passenger coaches. Are they BR or some other pre nationalization company?

  • That makes me smile, I escaped gardening duty claiming I was too tired after the early start on Saturday and possibly coming down with man flu afer the cold day! The blue/grey livery was introduced by BR towards the end of steam in order to establish a new corporate identity. All diesel locos were painted in blue livery to match. Thanks for your kind comments

  • Another outstanding video, I love the triple header and Black Five action! Thanks

  • Thanks very much, its amazing how many people have said how much they loved the triple header. It was nice to see them providing a splash of colour

  • Great stuff Austin, every shot a cracker. Nice to see the Super D having a bash too. A rare pleasure. All the best....Tim.

  • Many thanks Tim. It was great to see the Super D. She will be at the Lancs for a few months so I'll hopefully be able to get some more shots.

  • Hi, Austin. I enjoyed the video. For the first time, we must have filmed quite close to you at Burrs when the triple header came. Didn't they look superb?

    Regards Joseph

  • Thanks very much Joseph, yes I enjoyed that one, wasn't the light superb at Burrs in the afternoon

  • Another gem. I liked the triple header- it must be no small feat to make that work with three different classes of locomotive.

Is the middle one in authentic livery or has it recently done duty at a Thomas weekend?

  • Thank you, 'Gothenburg' is an ex Manchester Ship Canal loco and the normal livery is green. She is the ELR's resident Thomas and brings in a lot of visitors to the lines Thomas weekends and also additional revenue as she is hired to many other preserved lines

  • Simply stunning as always Austin, the triple headed industrials was superb....the gorgeous Autumnal weather playing its part on producing a great atmosphere....Bob

  • Thanks Bob, there was some very nice light about yesterday, unfortunately there was a large bank of cloud cover over Burrs during the mini charter

  • Great video Austin. Didn't make it to the ELR yesterday due to lack of money. Super D looks good. Can't wait to see it pair up with the Coal Tank at the Worth Valley & Llangollen next year.

  • Many thanks Jeff, yes the prospects of those two next year really whets the appetite

  • Another excellent video Austin loved the tripple header and the photo charter with the Black 5.

    JamesandPeter

  • Thanks very much, the triple header was a highlight in many ways, good to see these little engines stretching their legs.

  • I love that triple-header! Great one!

  • From yours and other comments it certainly seems that everyone liked that shot, it was certainly a very colourful combination

  • Excellent from start to finish Austin, the triple header was a cracker as was the shot from the tunnel and wow the trees have fairly grown . I had to go home as I was freezing at Ewood bridge so missed a few other run pasts. Regards Steve

  • Thanks Steve, it was perishing cold but I went back to Burrs for the last few shots and lurked in the car in between trains. It won't be long befor the shot at Summerseat has gone altogether unless someone goes out with a chainsaw. The triple header was a bit of a bonus especially as 'May' doesn't normally run up the line

  • Super shots, especially the triple header.

  • Thanks very much, I enjoyed that triple header and was very lucky as they stopped giving me time to quickly change the camera battery

  • Excellent film. Super D and that nicely restored Mk1 Restaurant car a real highlight. thanks

  • Thanks, I enjoyed the Super D myself as I hadn't got much footage of her previously

  • Another fine production Austin. Liked the triple header and good to see there's still a shot above the tunnel at Summerseat.

    Mike

  • Thanks Mike, I was hoping to get a bit more side on at Summerseat but there are really only one or two spots available now due to tree growth. Even the shot I managed is only 'on' for a little while longer I feel.
