They're adorable. Our great dane sits on couches with her butt, like Rosie is doing. Cael, our young wolfhound, just lays on it. Our old wolfhound, Saedi, prefers the floor because it's a shorter trip.
We have three now - again. Angelina, the brindle one, is the oldest now at 7 - she sits up on the couch like in this video and lays on it - Coleen, who was the puppy here - is five now and sits like Rosie. We have a 10 month old who just figured out how to climb up on the couch last month - she a cuddler and I love it.
your girls are so pretty! sorry to hear that you lost rosie :( i lost one of my dogs last january and i was devastated. hewas a beagle/aussie mix :) we now have a great pryenees puppy and a lab/pit puppy, they are so much fun!
@txwildflower45 Thank you -I still miss our Rosie. As you know, losing a heart hound is pure pain but the joy of living with them is well worth it. Angelina is 6 now and Coleen is 4. We will be adding #3 to our family probably next year. We are on a waiting list for a puppy from Coleen's half sister. She is pure white and the male will be a Red -maybe we'll get another red wheaten like Rosie!
Yep Rosie, sits somehat like our Xena, except Xena uses a little side action but always sits on couch when told to sit! Sorry for your loss...been there. Lost 2 of our own over the past 7yrs. Our Xena...turns 3 in April. Enjoy....still get teary eyed over the others on occasion...they are a special breed. Thanks for sharing
It is very much like introducing a new human baby into the household. The older dog is going to need a 'lot' of attention. The puppy will get plenty just by you keeping up with his needs. The older dog can be feeling displaced from being #1 to you. If the older one growls and sets boundaries - don't interfere. Your time and effort in working them into a family unit will be rewarded as these two will probably grow up to be good friends. Try the Irish Woldhound Club of America website also.
No,not physically. "I" got trained by a K-9 trainer and once I learned some basics the rest was easy. With dogs this size, I have to be alpha dog. Three was a wonderful pack (sadly, our Rosie died last May) However, I think we will stay with just two now- their Vet care can get expensive. Thanks for your interest.
Hey Gals! What a good sit . . and hubba-bubba - aren't you beauties!!!! I am feeling like runnin around happy, just seeing you! Chase the Irish Wolfhound - no longer breeding - but still happy to look at good lookin' gals!
LOL - that's why we have leather couches - easy to keep clean. These 'girls' own the couches, so to speak - but that's okay, we like it when they sit up there with us and literally look down at us. I understand your mother tho - when we had 'cloth couches' with our first Wolfhounds, I was not happy at all with them being on the couch.
HAHA!!!

You are right - Rosie was the oldest - and we lost her at 9.5 years of age - always too soon.

Sounds like ripe old-age for a wolfhound! It's always heart-breaking to lose a loved pet but Rosie had a long a haapy life I'm sure. X

Not being offensive, but Rosie didn't look too well in this video. Love wolfhounds though, but old-age comes to us all!

My mothers frist Irish wolf hound was named Rosey. If any of ower wolf hounds got on the couch like that thay would get in so much trouble.
