  • I can't buy this movie anywhere. :(

  • Is it insulting to say that i lol'd at the sound Unit 02 made?

  • What's the song playing through out this trailer?

  • @Misund3rst0od "Mother is the First Other" from Evangelion Symphony

  • @darkblackhawk Thanks a bunch man

  • Shinji's scream sounded like a bird LOLOLOL

  • If you watch this trailer before the movie you wont get mind fucked! It spoils everything. But since i've already scene it i can say that this is a great montage of the images and scenes that make this film so special.

  • I should redo his voice and actually pronounce everything correctly.

  • I watched the whole series and to this day I still don't understand it at all. . . . . .

  • Oh crimeny.

  • "Ee-va"

    "Sell-uh"

    "Main-ga"

They could have tried to correct his pronunciation.

  • This trailer spoils like half of the great scenes from the movie. Lol.

  • there IS happy endings , sad engings , and the end of evangelion.

    you will understand...

  • The difference between EoE and the new (Reboot) Eva series is that, Rei went to Shinji first in EoE to initiate Third Impact and then came the Human Instrumentality Project soon after. When in "You can (Not) Advance" Shinji went straight after Rei and after when he absorbed her he became a transcendent being and was about to initiate Third Impact. But the Human Instrumentality Project didn't happen yet because Kowaru interfered and put a stop to Eva Unit 01.

  • @UzamakiNaruto085 yea but that was only near third impact...

  • @polker11 Now that I look back on EoE, I realize that Rei tried doing the same thing as Shinji did from the new movies. She became one with Lilith and thus initiated Third Impact and absorbed Eva Unit 01 in order to become one with Shinji's being and consciousness. What I don't understand is, there's two Lilith's, and one of them is wearing a completely different mask, while the one we saw which was remade into Eva Unit 05 as wearing the one we saw in EoE

  • @UzamakiNaruto085 You're EoE analysis is completely wrong, Rei is made from Yui and Lilith and betrays gendo by taking his right arm which had the embryo of Adam imbedded into it and then "returning home" to Lilith and initiating third impact. When the LoL penetrates unit 01's core unit 01 became the tree of life (fruit of wisdom and the fruit of something else being formed into one) then Unit 01 entered Rei/Liliths vagina forehead which triggered the final stage of 3I

  • @UzamakiNaruto085 However in rebuild the near third impact was just the fusion of Rei and Unit 01 creating the ultimate until kawuro does some serious damage control and freezes Unit 01(If you're unsure about how that could be third impact there is multiple scenarios where third impact can occur for example EoTV was Gendo's scenario and third impact occurs, EoE was Yui's scenario but Shinji rejects it). The two Lilith's thing however, hopefully Q sheds some light on that

  • So this is the ''true'' true ending? Taking place after the Instrumentality Project or whatever is on the last 2 Episodes in the Series? I'm still very confused and also watched Death and Rebirth...

  • @DarkDragoonX92 its the ending, the series ending is what happens internally within shinji, they say this takes place externally so they happen at the same time, anyways anno wanted this to be the original ending but the breadcasting company thought it was too extreem for tv so anno had to wait 2 years for funds and what not, death and rebirth is like the series but leading it into eoe.

  • @metalraider187 actually i think their budget ran out to make the real ending, but yes this movie is the real ending of the series, and it does make up for the confusing last two episodes that were changed.

  • Spoiler alert, EVERYONE DIES

  • I can't have been the only one who sat through the end credits just saying "What the fuck...WHAT THE FUCK" over and over again.

  • @hotelmario510 Same here, just finished watching it for the first time and....... wtf mate. And I thought the original ending was unclear and insanity.

  • @Aicirt8 Don't get me wrong, it was a cool film, but it was all I could think or say for about half an hour.

  • @hotelmario510 Ya, I thought it was cool too, it's just one of those that has to sink in XD

  • @Aicirt8 Yeah. I'm lucky I had experience: I got into "Pink Floyd The Wall" a couple of years prior to this.

  • @hotelmario510 lol it reminds me of 2001 in that respect.

  • @bobx9000 I watched it again yesterday.

It's much better upon a second viewing.

  • the end of evangelion is basically the end of the world, but in a way that you won't understand

  • love.

    that is all.

  • John Milton, eh. Quite deep for Manga Entertainment.

  • this movie was fucked up. I loved it...but man...wtf! Also the second half...total mind fuck. I have seen the movie so many times and everytime I get freaked out. But everytime I discover something more about the film. Jesus what a great anime.

  • @ronnor001 It seems to actually get even more of a mindfuck with every new viewing.

  • @pratt123 Hahaha agreed. This trailer is pretty messed up as well.

  • this movie was orgasmic....

an epic addition to the show and explains a bit :D i luv it!!!!!!

  • @JinRenegade thank you, you're correct

  • "Lord have mercy, we have began third impact!"

That always gave me chills as a kid.

  • Best animated film ever in my opinion.

  • Evangelion Rebuild:

Everything you knew about Evanglion was wrong.

    Dead Wrong

  • THIS. Actually, Hideki Aono was depressed when he made Evangelion. The reboot movies shows that he was in a lighter mood.

  • @JokerThe14 ...and married. And very very VERY rich :)

  • @JokerThe14 Doesn't that defeat the appeal of Evangelion? The fact that it was a brutal deconstruction of Japanese super robot animes is one of its defining characteristics.

  • @newagepun You really shouldn't take those remakes seriously. They're nothing but fancy fan-service for weeboos.

  • @SpelKille as long as hideaki anno is part of the project, the rebuild movies will remain relevant. besides 3.0 and 4.0 could still surprise us all.

  • @metalraider187 I remain pessimistic yet hopeful. The 2 movies so far are bouncing between excellent, good, and acceptable. Characterization, a critical part of NGE, seems to be weaker here even if this is a movie with time limits. This is bad.

As for Anno's role, that doesn't mean a thing about the quality. Look what happened with George Lucas and Star Wars. (extreme case, yes)

"You either die the hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

-Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight

  • @pratt123 the og series was 90's depressed anno, its interesting to see where he takes it seeing that hes not that depressed anymore, maybe he just could have written a book or something but gainax and company(s) like big profits. that could be another reason.

  • @metalraider187 I'm not sure. The ending of You Can (Not) advance worried me, as well as the whole Mari Illustrious Makanami thing. The first one I disliked some of the minor changes but liked the telling. The second was just adding pointless fan service and changing major plot details in ways I thought were not for the better.

Still we'll see. It's going to be hard to top the EoE though. Legendary film.

  • 'but the ultimate choice....rests with one young man....'

    Shinji: BWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

  • @Jayfive276

    we're f*cked

    XD

  • @thatguy3331 Every time I hear that bit of the trailer I just hear Bender going 'Ah, we're boned...'

  • I didnt know but

    Seele= Soul in german 0.o

  • A quote from John Milton's "Paradise Lost" set to Evangelion footage?

    Awesome!

  • @TheWiseGuy784 Which quote are you referring to?

  • @Togusa The voice over at the beginning of the trailer.

  • "eeva"

    "seleh"

    "maynga"

I love how the narrator cant even pronounce these correctly.

  • hmm

this sure shows alot of spoiler scenes that should of not been shown in a trailer...

the japanese trailers are better in that they did not show such scenes but a blast of impactful kanji words & quick flashes of scenes.

  • MISS MISATO WHY ARE YOU KISSING LITTLE SHINKI

  • @edwardpoppy cause misato likes little boys.

  • Total spoiler but a cool trailer.

  • If anyone wants to know which part of Paradise Lost is the quote at the beginning, it's verses 146-150 in book 2.

  • @amitakartok can ya say the hole quote us .... i can make out the last part . cheers

  • @ldjaxx

    ...for who would loose,

Though full of pain, this intellectual being,

Those thoughts that wander through Eternity,

To perish rather, swallow'd up and lost

In the wide womb of uncreated night.

  • Comment removed

  • This movie sucked really bad but it was still awesome!

  • what is the song

  • @bennythelazy2: "Mother Is the First Other", a version that plays when 3rd impact begins and Rei goes back to Lilith in terminal dogma. There is also a first version that is played when Shinji is about to die from life support failing when Eva-01 is swallowed up in the sea of Dirac. Quite significant titles for those scenes, and a powerful song.

  • This trailer always gives me goosebumps.

  • I get shivers everytime i watch this trailer

  • Do I need to watch the other Evangelion movies/shows to gain a fuller understanding of this film?

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 Yes, you won't understand the movie without watching all the episodes of the show first

  • @miunolove Then I will. Just so that I can unterstand this movie that looks so good in this trailer. I'm getting into anine and this is on the top of my must watch list.

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 Believe me, after you watch this, you will not want to watch anything else. Not very many anime series live up to this one, lol.

  • @Ganondork56 I'm getting Death and Rebirth in the mail before the series (I just ordered it today). Should I seed Death and Rebirth before or after the series?

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 You need to watch it right before you watch End of Evangelion. If you are going to watch End of Evangelion, then there is no real reason to watch Rebirth. (second half of Death) because it is just the first part of the End of Evangelion movie. Death just recaps the whole series in a cinematic way.

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99 after, so totaly after!

  • The fuck am I watching?

  • What is the name of the song?

  • I FEEL SAD ABOUT THIS ANIME AND I DOTN KNOW WHY !!! FUCK !

  • @lordcapucino

Maybe because it doesn't have a happy end?

  • I want this man's voice.

  • ...epic.

  • Every time I watch End of Evangelion I discover something new. Its one of these films that will never stop making you think.

  • I get chills every time I see this

  • Ugh, so fucking good!!!

  • @jigsaw9382 the latter for sure

  • @jigsaw9382 not EoE, its rather extreem, AS dosent have the balls!!!!!!!!

  • the whole series was disturbing

  • all i know is Mike Patton and Fantomas are working on the soundtrack...

  • I hear Weta is working on making a live-action Evangelion movie.

If they do, it should be a trilogy. It's impossible to convey the Evangelion saga with one movie.

Also, Robin Williams as Gendo. He's an actual Evangelion fan and has a collection of Evangelion model toys. Look on Wikipedia.

  • the movie is currently in devolepment hell. i could see robin williams playing keele instead of gendo

  • @therealrob99

Yah, I had that discussion about Robin Williams on 4chan.

I guess he would make a good Keel, but who could play Gendo?

    Hugh Laurie?

  • idk Chow Yun-Fat maybe? i could see Hugh Laurie as Fuyutsuki. i just find it hard to see someone who isnt asian playing an asian character though i guess you can always just hand wave it..

  • @therealrob99

Ian McKellen looks exactly like Fuyutsuki.

  • @GrievousCommander This is a little late, but I think it said somewhere that all the actors in the live-action movie are gonna be Asian =/

  • @MegXZilla i think this live action is a fake.

  • Love that soundtrack

  • when i see this video i imagine this: a person who's is into evangelion and stuff has a friend/girlfriend/family member/whatever that is constantly saying bad stuff about that person's tastes without even knowing anything. one day they go to a movie theater and this masterpiece of a trailer plays in there. the person who said bad things before is completely mind-bended and says to the first one: "i'm sorry" to what the other one replies: "i told you!"

  • Best yell ever!

  • I need the music from this trailer!

  • Its called "Mother is the first other", its in the Symphony of Evangelion soundtrack which was played to a live audience. You can find it on the internet somewhere (torrents).

  • @JinRenegade the "Mother is the first other" on here is not the matching track.

  • @rssej You've probably listened to the song which was in the actual NGE soundtrack, try and find the version of the "Symphony of Evangelion", because that is DEFINITELY the matching track, it sounds exactly the same. It even has the audience clapping in the end of the song like you hear at the end of this trailer.

  • lol sela organization

  • There's a live action trailer for one of the Eva movies, but I'm having hell finding it.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I feel compelled to watch it.

  • its fake there will be no live action movie its a old rumor

  • Technically it's still in development. The fact that there were/are PLANS, at least, to make a live-action movie is not a rumor, it's true.

  • no its just a rumor i know for a fact it's just a rumor ginax never reported anything about this even said it was a rumor case closde

  • Sorry to be blunt, but you're straight-up wrong. Do some fact checking. The movie was/is in planning by Weta Workshop, Gainax and the late ADV Films. You can find interviews concerning the movie with both Weta producers and Matt Greenfield (co-founder of ADV) right here on Youtube. Not only did Gainax never state that the film was a "rumor", they acknowledged it and said they are excited for it. You can find information on the film at Wikipedia, IMDB, or Weta's website. Go look for yourself.

  • Recheck your sources, the movie is in Development Hell if not cancelled completely. Officially it is still being made but there have been other properties that took over a decade to come out.

  • Um, that's exactly what I said.

"Technically" still in development = development hell

And yes, it is entirely possible that the concept may be thrown around for years to come before finally coming to fruition - assuming it ever does. The Watchmen movie was being tossed around Hollywood for nearly 20 years - too bad the movie itself wasn't worth the wait.

  • "Technically" you are correct. But if you wait long enough, any movie will eventually be made. So that doesn't mean much.

Development hell is not the usual meaning for a movie in "development". That latter phrase is usually used to indicate that a movie....is still being actively made, not eternally suspended.

  • You're not contradicting anything I said, just paraphrasing it back at me and trying to make it seem like I'm wrong.

I'm trying to be civil here, but it seems like you're more intent of picking a fight.

  • No, there isn't. There is no trailer.

  • at least this trailer fits Evangelion, I like the guys voice but he couldn't be bothered to prounounce things correctley, but its better than every other eva trailer witch just misleads you into thinking its an action fest, if more trailers for eva focused on its slow paced psycological aspecs rather than its action scenes it wouldn't of been so contraversal

  • The Sella organization... Really? Someone really couldn't have stopped him while he was recording and went "Hey bro..... It's pronounced 'Say-Lay'"

  • Apparently this man did not take remedial German. Or, you know, watched the series/movie he's advertising.

Still, I love the Milton quote. Highly appropriate.

  • I love Paradise Lost too, I had to analyse it for an essay in English Literature.

  • Could you tell me a bit about it? I've heard of it from a text book and Frankenstein, but I'm not quite sure what it's about.

  • It's an epic poem that has two stories. One being Lucifer and the other being Adam and Eve. With Lucifer its about war and how he and his followers were cast from heaven. Adam and eve is basically similar to the bible story. The way I read into it was that it's a justification of man and our fall from paradise was the same as that of Lucifer.

    I recomend it.

  • Sounds interesting. I should probably just research it though, I remember having a hard time reading an epic poem a couple months ago.

  • Ah I see, I'm an English Literature student so I've read a good few. Dante's Inferno, The Illiad, The Odyssey and Paradise Lost, a long with a couple of others.

  • I am familiar with the Divine Comedy. Even though I haven't read it, I've been doing some research about it for inspiration on a story I've been plotting out.

  • They are both spectacular and important reads, Paradise Lost and the Inferno. Just be forewarned, Paradise Lost is very dense, and you'll be at it for a while.

  • I love the beginning quote used. Paradise Lost was a good story.

  • can i watch this movie here on youtube?

  • yup

  • Do you know where the words the narrator is quoting came from, yozitaki?

No, then don't call a trailer fail if you don't get where the reference is from!!

It's the best trailer I've seen for any anime ever.

  • what he said was cool, but his voice isnt right for an anime trailer.. also the titles look like a kid made them once he learned basic title animation - just the whole thing is too clearly americanized and amateur looking, as if it were some trailer on a vhs before an old disney movie

also, they used the fail dubs in the trailer, but its only expected given the target

  • Oh, Ok. Sorry I thought you were just trolling. My mistake. Anyway, yeah I can see what you're talking about. But I can't tell if it's Don Lafontaine doing the narration, it sounds like him, since he'd been dubbed the 'Voice of God'.

  • Pay attention to the intro, you shall see " John Milton's Paradise Lost"

  • The Paradise lost reference fit the trailer perfectly.

  • whats with the applause at the end?

  • This trailer uses the music from an OST album from Evangelion that was recorded in front of a live audience.

The track was 'Mother is the First Other', thus the applause at the end.

  • holy shit, most memorible line in the movie

"... we have begun third impact "

  • I think I shit a brick when I heard that.

  • Heh evangelion kind of annoys me now , now that I got tired of shinji so much. But I always loved the style of this trailer.

  • What is the name of the music that plays in the background of this trailer?

  • I don't know, I've been trying to find that out for ages. As far as I can tell it's an arrangement of the song "Escape to the Beginning" from the OST, but this particular arrangement doesn't seem to be on any of the soundtracks.

  • It's "Mother is the First Other", although it is a remix (lack of a better word), as this is the live orchestral version.

  • this movie is the best animated anything i've seen in my life, even its trailer is a masterpiece

  • in the end when asuka said "I feel sick"

    i thought she was pregnant.

  • yes its correct

  • she is.

  • Well, to be fair, that's only one possible interpretation, propagated (albeit convincingly) by Sean McCoy. Really, Anno designed Evangelion, and EoE in particular, as a sort of kaleidoscopic mirror, so to speak; it is an elaborate abstraction, yet its ultimate meaning is as a reflection of the psyche of he (or she) who watches it. To simplify, whatever it means to you - personally - that's what it means. That's right.

  • they need to bring back this announcer for english rebuild trailers.

  • good idea

  • ...but maybe teach him how to pronounce the series terminology this time.

    pfffffffffheheheheheh "the 'SELL-uh' organization".

  • For who would lose, / Though full of pain, this intellectual being, / Those thoughts that wander through eternity, / To perish rather, swallowed up and lost / In the wide womb of uncreated night, / Devoid of sense and motion?

  • The john Milton quote is so perfect, love this trialer so badly, and the movie too ^^

  • Even in its grotesqueness, this movie was so powerful.

  • Chills my back seeing this trailer. Its awesome.

  • I hear clapping at the end, where was this trailer shown?

    Anyone have a clue?

  • a theater probably.

  • It's the song. It's included in the Evangelion Symphony OST. I'm going to assume that when they recorded, it was with an audience. Multiple songs have clapping at the end.

  • I love that trailer! Even the score!

  • this trailer was epic until you hear shinji lol

  • So does this movie replace the final two disappointing episodes of Neon Genesis?

  • Not really

  • Are you sure

    Cause it definatly does nigga

  • See as I'm not black...ok?

  • .......well, technically, yes. But really, no. Basically, try to view the movie as what happened physically, and the last 2 episodes as what happened mentally.

  • Makes sense

But still fuck that dyke lol

  • They are concurrent, EoE being the events taking place during 25/26. 25/26 takes place in Shinji's mind.

  • Actually its...poetry from "paradise lost" by John Milton......

  • This is the best trailer for an animated film. I for one can't believe they're going to turn Paradise Lost into a movie. It's going to be 3D and played at IMAX.

  • realy? when and where?

  • Look it up on wikipedia. The movie's not until 2010 or something like that.

  • ah ty, I looked it up a while ago; its going to be a CG movie or at least some combination of live action and cg.
