First cinematic reference to a "firewall" - a security measure used in computer networking and Internet security. This does not predate the existence of the Internet, however, which is considered to have started in 1969.
do a search on you tube for "WXXA theatre bizarre" and youll see a good example of 80,s late night tv or halloween durring 80's, reminds me of the hood in ET when they went trick or treating, "you stay here mom, we'll check it out" LOL
i used to pick up cordless telephone conversations on those dial tvs that had bunny ears, you could find that all the way over on like 80 somthing on UHF, i could hear one side of next doors phone convo, this was before digital spred spectrum, it was all analog radio that didnt skip freqs, so much for that stuff
Now look at what kind of music is getting popular "ELECTRO" its basically all the new wave and electronic music from the 80's respun into a more sophisticated entity. Really what people are trying to bring back with electro is the innocence of the 80's, the newness, but what we end up with is a gritty "nasty" electro sound that people think the 80's was about, for gosh sake, "stand by me" was 80's too and that wasnt gritty or nasty, rant over... done.
it was almost as if technology was simple, and innocent. kitt and micheal knight, airwolf, etc... well so much for that, we all know what technology means, it means the criminals get to make this whole thing cheap.... anyway.....
This makes anything 80's seem adventurous, thats what i like about this. the commercials from the 80's, the yellow tinted clear popcorn popper cover than spun and you dropped the kernels in, atari, pacman, printed tee shirts, it was all ephemeral meaning you had you get your hands on it to experience it, there was no virtual world even with the computer games and technology. 80's horror movies were cheesy and didnt scare you much but they were fun, back to the future.
@halcyon180 My mom still has that pop corn popper! And we still use it and I have a calculator from 1988 that I use every day and my grandma has a TV from 1987 with dials on it, Things were made to last back then.
i looked for this for a really really long time like 3 years ago. now i watched the movie again, and was like "hey, why not look again, it might be there (the internet)"
