@SarahSiouxx I agree - just as they guy in the video says; "Girlfriend in a Coma" and a lot of their other songs have really funny lyrics. People just don't seem to get irony...
And sorry for replying to a comment that's a year old, too...
If you want an accurate assessment of Morrissey's thoughts on the case and Mike Joyce then listen to 1997's Maladjusted album with the song 'Sorrow Will Come In The End'. Joyce should have just gotten the smaller settlement like the one Rourke received and be done with it. But I would have had a manager sort out the royalties and who got what before the band started.
He took Morrissey and Marr to court and squeezed a million dollars out of them. He didn't write the songs. That was the reason Morrissey released 'The More You Ignore Me The Closer I Get' early in his solo career:
"Beware, I bear more grudges than lonely high court judges. When you sleep I will creep into your thoughts
like a bad debt that you cant pay, take the easy way
And give in"
Me reckons he doesn't like Joyce too much. Anyway, you got as far as an internet connection - google it...
You're actually wrong about 'The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get'. That song came out in 1994 and the court case came in 1996 so its actually a coincidence that that song has "Beware, I bear more grudges than lonely high court judges. When you sleep I will creep into your thoughts
like a bad debt that you cant pay, take the easy way
This report was hilarious!

I think it's funny how people think the smiths are 'miserable', but really the lyrics are quite funny if you don;t take it 'literally'.

What do you mean - "the" manager?
Da Smiths were a DIY band, as Mr. Marr has always maintained.

wasn't Joe Moss their manager? Just because you have a manager doesn't mean people are getting a fair crack does it?
