Make fun of us Americans all you want, but the fact of the matter is, not all of us are as ignorant as you seem to think we are. We're allowed to like football too, even if our teams aren't the best in the world.
im american and love soccer and dont even really play it that much. and i call it soccer because i dont see the big deal with americans having a different word for it than the english. we dont call potato chips "crisps." i agree football makes more sense but its seriously just a word.
I hope football (soccer. I'm american and I still prefer to call it football) and rugby really catch on in this country. It is better than baseball/basketball/american football by far. Some firms would be cool too haha
Man City were properily spanked here. My GF is a big Red Bulls fan and said Man City were a disappointing challenge. She reccons Red Bulls and Galaxy are better than a lot of teams in our Premiereship. I'm anxious she might be right!
@fartexpertable Well good luck dominating football (or soccer as you would say)
It's all good beating half of Man City's first team but try it on with the likes of Man unt. Aresenal Chelsea Liverpool over a full season and it would be a different story. Plus if you ever played the true dominant force in football, Barcelona, you would have no chance.
@tommart123 I do't think anyone would say any of our clubs could even close to stay with Barcelona... nor EPL teams. Point it MLS is gettinng better, which is what we have been trying to do. Still have to deal with English people coming in and telling us how much we suck every video is a bit annoying. Lindpere, Richards, Henry could still all play in EPL, and Tainio used to.
@MMAmachinhead92 as much as id love to agree with you i see very few of man citys studs out there no tevez for one and you know tevez would have completely changed this game
I think that MLS could match some Barclays Premier league teams, maybe not Manchester United, Chelsea, etc, but still have competition, But the big difference is the commentators, I'm not saying these guys aren't good but, English ones just make it way more dramatic and more exciting !
@mancltymagics1 ya I kinda meant for a few games, still love BPL more, but Im from Canada so i still like MLS a bit not as much at all, but just saying the skill level has gone up and not down
ya I kinda thought about it before I saw your reply, and ya your right, Usually I even remeber when I said British Premier League, is that it's short for Barclay's Premier League(BPL), I just got a bit mixed up
now you understand with the BPL(Barclay's Premier League)
Red bulls were in the middle of their season and this was just after the world cup and Man City sent bums like Jo and Cunningham over to play. If Red Bulls played Man City right now during the middle of the season they would lose about 5 or 6-0.

@firelinx111 Wait, Richards is from Cornwall College? Niiiiiiiiice. When I was in Grade 11 he was in grade 8! Funny. Anyway I was disappointed in not seeing him play vs Toronto at the Redbulls Arena.
@Pavlovscat567 hahahahahahahaha u r funny!!!!! there was only 3 first team players who played in that game the rest were kids, AND its our pre season tour so know one is goin to play hard because its just training. hahahahaha
2 things. 1) Red Bulls were missing lots of starters, too, and played mostly reserves in the second half. 2) Pre-season games are quite meaningful for EPl teams, because the reserves want to demonstrate that they're good enough to stay on the squad. Man City got beat fair and square. Just like Man U got beat by Kansas City.
@KaersonTV you dont know what you a Talking About m8 there were only 3 first team players who played in thet game all the rest were kids. your football League is a joke hahaha
When are they announcing el Rafa's transference to Red Bulls from Barca? Today? Bring Rooney next year. N.Y. Red Bulls MLS Champs!! Cosmos? What Cosmos?
GSS, i also see what your saying , but pre season in the Premiership is about gellin and fitness, and probably most importantly coming out injury free. The Prem is the most physically demanding league in the world, plus we have 2 domestic cups and europa to worry about no to mention our regular season. Bridge will be second string this year he is a liability, jo will be sold or loaned out again. Ade wont turn it on until he faces the arse and Bellers well how can you not love bellers anytime.
@digsysdiner I see what youre saying. But man city fielded a team that would do well even during the season. Adebayor, Bridge, bellamy, jo.... I'm wondering why any team would allow another to win or not go 100%... It could just be that NY beat them fair and square.
It is a pre season friendly, lower division teams beat premier league teams every year. These matches are all about getting fitness, match sharpness and looking at squad players. It is likely that none of these players will start for Man City in their first league game. The last thing the players want is to get injured before the season starts.
They have just signed a new left back for £19 who will take Bridge's place. Both Bellamy and Adebayor will find their chances more limited due to the arrival of Silva and the expected arrival of Balotelli, not to mention all of the other players they are being linked with. Given that Tevez will be an automatic choice it leaves a lot of competition for the one spot remaining.
Another MLS side beating a Premier's top team. USA's soccer is getting better and better. Now our teams, like our national team has been doing it before, are going to show to the world, that Soccer, like we call it, is HERE TO STAY AND ADVANCE. And yeah, yeah, not all players from their A team, but still...our league doesn't have 150 years....we should had won that Tottenham game as well. GO RED BULLS!!!!! GO HENRY, ANGEL, RICHARDS !!! 2010 MLS CHAMPS!!!!!
Your right Soccer is here to stay. I've been reading alot of comments about K.C. Wizards victory over Manchester U in the Kansas City Star Newspaper and one was quoeted as saying American Football in our city is dying and is not worthing watching any more and I agree to some extent.
