It can be hard at some points, but overall it is kinda easy. No, its not like GTA IV at all. Mercs 2 is pure action with little realism.

Is it possible that merc2 on ps3 is more extensive than merc2 on ps2?

for example on ps2 u don't have motorcycles

You just answered your own question. The fact that PS2 doesn't have motorcycles and PS3 does proves that the PS3 is more extensive then the PS2 version. The reason being two words: Blu-Ray!

Interesting...perhaps the data has been corupted somehow. If you have any Mercs 2 Game Data, delete it and try to install the game again.

The core idea of Mercs 2 is essentially the same as the original: kill bullet-sponge enemies and blow things up!

Not much has changed (even the graphics!) and unless you were a huge fan of Mercs or can find this for a dime there is no need to buy the sequel right no.

No, sorry. There is a difference between the EA servers for each console.

That is the same reason why you can't play Madden on the PSP against somebody playing Madden on the PS3!

No...because you can't kill normal citizens. If you do manage to hurt somebody though, you will be fined money, just as if they were "suing" you!

All of the cars have a slight unique feeling to them, but driving is not nearly as realistic as it is in GTA IV.

Also, you can free-roam around the world, though there isn't much to explore except for mostly jungles.

Sorry, but you cannot listen to custom music while you play, nor can you surf through radio channels like in Grand Theft Auto.

Anytime you play online, you must be connected to the Internet. Whether you are playing while connected directly to your PC, or you are using a wireless online gaming set-up, you must always be connection to the Internet.

None of the playable characters have any significant differences between each other, and who you choose to play as is a matter of self-preference.

In order to make things clear, here are the differences between the 3 different playable charecters.

Man with mohawk- Recovers health faster.

Other man- Carries more ammo.

British girl-runs faster

The world in Mercenaries 2 is quite expansive and large. There is a ton of activities to do throughout the world, and it is quite rare that you get bored.

Mercenaries 2 does feature some occasional battles around you between two different factions, although when we played it was a little rare.

one of the things i loved most about the original mercs game was the feeling of being in a warzone, coming across battles between various factions and driving through the dust and smoke of burning towns etc. Does mercs 2 retain this atmosphere?

Unfortunately Mercenaries 2 does not feel as much like a battlefield as the original did. There is still a ton of combat taking place throughout the world, but it is in a more modern environment.

There are a lot of easy parts in the game but that very well could be because of the awesome selection of weapons you have at your disposal. A wicked air strike tends to wipe things out pretty quickly. Although there are easy parts to the game, because it has such a large world you can find many things to occupy your time.
