@opfan358 Well dubs also make the characters sound too young a lot f the time or the voices of the American voice actors don't quite match up with how you imagine the character sounding especially if you start watching and episode in sub format and try switching to dub. There are a few Dubs though that are better than the sub version out there very few but they exist. One i can pull off the top of my head is Yu Yu Hakusho about a "Ghost Detective:" Otherwise Sub is way to go mostly

Nothing. I mean I'm thankful that 3 (almost 4) years back they saved One Piece and I enjoy their current dubs. Even then I prefer some voices from California (Studiopolis, Bang! Zoom, phuuz, etc.) having grown up with them more.
That's fair. Honestly I don't hold it against people if they like Marc Diraison better as Zoro. I've gotten used to Sabat but I'm not afraid to admit that Diraison is the only English actor (counting the Singapore dubs) that comes close to an English speaking Kazuya Nakai... that's just me though.
I kind of assume you're being facetious or sarcastic (if "dubbed properly" means "faithful to the original Japanese version"). If that's not the case, then that logic falls apart badly.
In fact any anime that isn't Dragon Ball Z or GT, FUNimation manages to stay 100% faithful to the Japanese version content wise. Now I'm not saying the voice work in Z and GT are bad, it's actually quite tolerable, I just don't like the Faulconer or Faulconer-esque replaced music.

I take you haven't watch a single episode of South Park since 2002. The show can be raunchy but it's humor lies more in socio-political commentary. The sexual content is more of a guise. Cartoon Wars, the Mohammed controversy, Somalian Pirates, the Sea Shepard, Catcher in the Rye, the Tiger Woods scandal and the legalization of Marijuana. These are all examples of episodes that have been touched upon with more grace than people give the show credit for. 13 year olds won't get it.
So if adults "get" Spongebob I suppose that makes it aimed at adults.

See, I watched 4Kids then the Japanese version which is why I knew the FUNimation dub kicked ass due to its faithfulness to the Japanese version. Though in an inverted case, people that were raised on the DiC dub of Sailor Moon didn't quite care for the Cloverway dub, specifically in the case that they complained about the original music.

Buy Bi-lingual DVDs (like FUNimation's), and watch the Japanese episodes with subtitles. Try saying some of the easier lines and look at the subtitles as you do. You can, at least, pick up some common phrases.

@Jin6107 Part of the reason I reacted this way was the fact that I was skeptical that a dub of One Piece faithful to the Japanese version would ever come. In other words, if I WASN'T familiar with the Japanese version (by the point of this video I had watched 200+ episodes of the fansub) I wouldn't have made this video in the first place. Since the show got a legitimate uncut release, I just stick to the simulcasts and DVDs.

FUNimation has the better dub because what qualifies as a good dub is NEVER the voice work alone. It's the translation and consistency with the Japanese version.

I take you haven't watch a single episode of South Park since 2002. The show can be raunchy but it's humor lies more in socio-political commentary. The sexual content is more of a guise. Cartoon Wars, the Mohammed controversy, Somalian Pirates, the Sea Shepard, Catcher in the Rye, the Tiger Woods scandal and the legalization of Marijuana. These are all examples of episodes that have been touched upon with more grace than people give the show credit for. 13 year olds won't get it.

See, I watched 4Kids then the Japanese version which is why I knew the FUNimation dub kicked ass due to its faithfulness to the Japanese version. Though in an inverted case, people that were raised on the DiC dub of Sailor Moon didn't quite care for the Cloverway dub, specifically in the case that they complained about the original music.

Buy Bi-lingual DVDs (like FUNimation's), and watch the Japanese episodes with subtitles. Try saying some of the easier lines and look at the subtitles as you do. You can, at least, pick up some common phrases.

My cousin is married to a beautiful wife and has a child, and on his free time he watches anime shows. So you see adults can still watch anime, especially ones that are aimed towards there age group. @Jin6107 Part of the reason I reacted this way was the fact that I was skeptical that a dub of One Piece faithful to the Japanese version would ever come. In other words, if I WASN'T familiar with the Japanese version (by the point of this video I had watched 200+ episodes of the fansub) I wouldn't have made this video in the first place. Since the show got a legitimate uncut release, I just stick to the simulcasts and DVDs.

FUNimation dub? HORRIBLE! They ruined Tony's cute voice by giving him that new voice! 4Kids was doing just fine until FUNimation had to steal the show and this led to the series to stop airing!

FUNimation actually planned a license for One Piece long before 4Kids actually, it's just that 4Kids was the higher bidder. 4Kids didn't make the money they thought they would and the parent Japanese companies got upset. FUNimation has the better dub because what qualifies as a good dub is NEVER the voice work alone. It's the translation and consistency with the Japanese version.
