  • it wasn't exactly the same problem (grub rescue, partition not found while booting on a liveusb) but your video saved my wife's documents on her laptop. Thanx so much!!

  • so how does one fix gurb if Vista broke the ubuntu entry?

  • it doesnt work

  • i have install winodws 7 from windows xp and it happend

  • Thank you so much :-)

  • wheres the MD button???

  • @gadgetzreview If you don't know where it is, you haven't pushed it, and therefore this video won't help you.

  • Hi, I have another problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 1gb ram, Core 2 Duo T5450 1,66 GHz, running Vista Home Premium, the problem is that when I press MediaDirect (v. 3.5) button it boots and shows a message which says: "MD extended partition table error" and MD doesn't work (I have the same problem since I bought it), I tried using the recovery disk, which screwed up my OS (had to repair it), I hope I don't have to format my laptop.

  • You have saved me a lot of trouble with this video. Many thanks.

  • @trickm0nkey No problem.

  • dude nice os bt swith to linux mint

  • @planetpatrick I don't have linux anymore, but I've heard good things about Linux Mint.

I created a youtube account to specifically thank you for saving me hours of needlessly mucking around with partition editors and utilities.

I did this because it seems not many people are thanking you for a VERY simple alternative to starting over again with a fresh install.

    THANK YOU.

  • You're welcome. :)

  • This didnt help at all. It would help if you explained the problem and what you did to fix it instead of filling the video with mouth breathing. Sorry but this error has taken up so much of my time and energy. I dont want to build up my hopes at an easy walkthrough and see a video of someone magically fixing the problem by pressing keys that no one else has on there computer.

  • Try fucking reading. "CAUSED BY DELL MEDIADIRECT".

  • Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I can't see why booting into MediaDirect a few times would fix a GRUB Error 17.

    Care to enlighten me? Thanks!

  • Booting into MediaDirect causes the original problem.

Instead of having to reinstall (something I've read people doing on the Ubuntu forums) you can do this instead.

  • Great grammar, dumb ass! By a MAC and you might become smarter than a fifth grader!!

  • That's an insult to fifth graders.

  • Great ignorance, layman. MAC is for those who are too dumb to operate Linux, but smart enough to avoid Windows.

    Humble yourself, great asshole.

    :)

  • Thanks man.

  • No problem. :)

  • I'd imagine I could, yes.

  • lol!

  • this isnt workin to well for me any other tips

i have a Dell inspiron 6400 and even the lens on the disk drive is broke worst laptop i ever bought help

  • You can't honestly expect me to provide assistance with absolutely no information whatsoever.

  • Wow, Dell is full of f*kin morons. I never even hit the god damn button, just deleted the bastard mediadirect partition and the error happened to me. This solution video isn't working for me. Good thing I made a hard drive image backup before... F*CK YOU DELL

  • Why don't you buy a Mac, since you're clearly too stupid to use a REAL computer.

  • hehe yes macs are for people who doesn't know how to use computers

  • i have vista and ubuntu installed, i played with the partition file, but .. i have a grub error D:

do u know how to fix it?

  • What error number?

  • hmm nvm its aiight now, im fixing it, it was grub 17, i got it , but thanks tho .

  • Glad to here you got it fixed. :D

  • yooo ,

whats 2. Hit MD button (causes error)

  • Pushes the Media Direct button, a special button on some of Dell's computers to open up a Linux based media player without the need of an operating system.

  • uggg. The trickiness.

This happened to me once before. Now I know. Thanks.

  • No problem. :)

  • men, you save my life!!!!!

  • That makes this video more than worth it, then.

    :)
