You'll find several types of shrimp at your grocer. If you buy frozen raw shrimp, you'll need to thaw it and cook it. To save time, buy cooked shrimp, thaw it, and its ready to go. ~RIta
You know, I think I'd prefer to thaw the cooked shrimp and then dunk it quickly in to boiling water and lift it out. This way, it will remove any kind of weird scent that often accompanies frozen stuff.
If you're in a hurry, put in a colander and run cold water over it. If not, put in a colander, put the colander in a shallow pan (not in a bowl because the shrimp will sit in water), let it thaw overnight in the frig, give it a good rinse and you're ready to go.~Rita

As long as it's cooked shrimp (pink) Uncooked shrimp (gray) has to be cooked in boiling salted water until the shrimp curls, about 2-4 minutes
