@jasonlives1028 Tribulation, Weapon, Coffins, Morbider, Necros Christos, Necrovation, Obliteration, Stargazer, Ulcerate, Verminous, Anata, Arsis' first album is good, Bastard Priest, Deathevokation, Defeated Sanity, Demiurg, Drawn and Quartered, Hooded Menace...check any of those out. All are awesome and all released their first album is the past decade iirc.
I myself am a black metal man... but god damn old-school death metal was sooooo fucking good. It conjures no deep and meaningful thoughts inside of me, but still it's just fucking awesome metal! This is real death metal to me. Not the "I'm trying too hard to be brutal" kind of sound, I hate that sound. This is back when death metal had anger issues, with emotion, even if it was just on the surface and nothing deeper than that. This is just awesome.
A high school friend introduced me to death metal by giving me a mix tape that included one side of this album, along with Deicide, Obituary, Death, Morbid Angel, and some *obscure* thrash like Forced Entry.
Metal today will never compare to the stuff that was released from 1987 until about 1994 or '95.
@gorecore I totally agree, i waas introduced to death metal the same way and no it will never be the same, around the time cannibal corpse made it on to mtv was about the end of the real death metal, After that it became commercialized. That was about 94 -95 when i was just leaving high school, Death Forever!!! this you tube is great i have found bands i haven't heard in years like ripping corpse, asphyx, solitude aeturnus ect.
@gorecore I'm glad I was a teen back then to experience the scene. Today doesn't compare to then. And to think my mother asked why do I need a library of this music back in 1990. She said I wouldn't listen to it forever. roflmao Metal forever \m/
@gorecore damn!!!! history repeats it self!! i was introduced to to death metal when a dude gave me a tape of cannibal corpse&deicide: dead by dawn, hammer smashed face, suicide sacrifice, bloodlands.... it was fuckin fantastic!!! yeah, metal will never by like what it used to be, and if you try to come up with something ala old school way they will say you are doing the same thing, and if you go original they say you are not truly dedicated to metal.........cheers from MOROCCO.
Fuck yeah! This is what it's all about! Being crushed by riff after riff!

yeah dude, back then we all called this death metal. just like bands like Sadus, Incubus, Massacra, Revenant, Merciless, Invocator, etc, etc...
bands that were more "thrashier".
Today I can simply call it THRASHHH!!!!
