  • what size engine? and i've said my whole life gm should've made a v6 sunfire

  • All that work and it's still going to be slow.

  • Anyone can swap a b-series motor... how many people have done this swap?

  • True, just saying it's gonna be more for show than go.

  • think there would be enuff room to put twin turbows in there?

  • no lol

  • I WANT ONE OF THEM .. (Y)

  • wuts ur idol at 3 lol that thing sounds real clanky

  • I'm guessing that you asked what the idle was set at.

In this vid, the idle was set at a range from 1100 to 975 depending on the engine temp. The lope (or as you put it, "clanky") was caused by the ECM having the wrong injector constant. The wrong constant was causing fuel-out conditions.

I have since replaced the ECM with one from a 2001 Grand Am instead of the 1999 (injectors changed in 2000, which resulted in a change in the injector constant) and the lope has disappeared.

  • DUDE YOUR THE FUCKING MAN MAN !!!!!!!!!!! lol thats killer ... next your gonna try throw a v8 n there right Lol jking but thats tight man ... HOW MUCH DO U WANT FOR IT ... lol jking but yeah .. HAVE FUN WITH IT and dont crash n die ... thing prolly has some MAD ASS BALLS.... !!! lol NOW GO MOP UP A FORD MUSTANG lol jking .. haha DOPE SHIIT

  • know what would have been cool, buying a v6 cavalier from say 1992 and putting a 3.8 in and turboing it lol

  • ive gotta 04 black sunfire thats bone stock minus rims and system....

but i may have acidentally dropped a 2.4 ecotec soltice engine in it...lol

okay i did it on purpose and it wasnt easy but its basically a sleep for a 4 banger..lol

i do have cold air and i kept the exhaust stock so its pretty nice...lol

im putting my turbo on this summer i should be gettin it pretty hard by then..lol

    i just gotta killthat govner

  • 2004's dont have a governer the are programed threw the computer there is a place in tenn. that can remove that setting

  • I may get a custom moded sunfire with a 3.1L sitck shift for $2400, but what i'm more wondering is why people like modding the sunfires so much?

  • email me how to do this i got an auto though

  • I edited the video comments with an answer to your how-to. Please don't think that I'm evading your question, the method I took differs from everyone else that has done this (that I know of) and is overly complicated to explain (read: emissions compliance). Also, the link I added is more of an information repository. If you have any questions specifically after reading that post, I invite you to ask in a separate thread on that forum. If for some reason I don't know the answer, someone else may.

  • i have a 305 v6 in my 2004 sunfire alot of mods but made it work that shit is sick man 150 in 2nd gr at 6000 rmp

  • i was thinking about doing that to mine

  • I'd like to see a guy drop a 3.8 supercharged V6 out of an ssei bonneville into a sunfire. How sweet would that be?

  • haha a guy is putting one in his drop top cavalier.

  • balla!

  • Nice to see a V6 in a Sunfire. Beware of the intake manifold gasket warping it happens in the 3.1 and 3.4. Otherwise a good motor.

  • nice

  • A friend of mine got a 2001 cavy with a 3400 with a t3/t4 super 60 from garrett. He got 12.5 at the 1/4 mile last week. On street tires!

  • what kind of motor is that ????

  • 2001 Grand Am 3400 V6

  • that was sick

  • what tranny did you bolt it to? I been plannin on doin that to my 95 sunfire. I havent modded it at all waitin for an omen on what to do, bein that its an Auto and it'd need too much work to make it like I want. I've had this Idea for EVER but I'm tryin to get it in my head what Tranny to go with. Maybe even Engine as well. I want 3.8s/c but a 3400 would be nice as well. Good motor. Thanks bro if you can help

  • stock 5 spd, but if you have the 2.2 engine, the auto will work as well.

  • ok cool man. I heard that the stock Stick shift would work. I dont have it though, I have the 2.3 Quad four with an AUTO. I dont know what'll work yet. Havent had much time to get it all together.

  • my Plan was originally to pull a 3800 supercharged AND tranny out, and stick thewhole think in my sunfire. Lot of Mechanical work there I know but it'd last longer if I could pull it off. Thats what I'm hopin for, everyday driver

  • if I recall correctly, you will need to switch to the Getrag trans for the 3800 s/c. Since I don't have welding skills, I haven't looked into that swap too much.

She runs great, tensioner squeaks a bit. Waiting on the vid for the dyno pull so I can post it up :)

  • yours is Nice though. Cant wait to see how she runs!

  • hey i got a 98 gtp wut is that motor out of and did usay its a 5 speed and if so wuts the 5 speed out of

  • 2001 Grand Am for the engine, the stock 5spd that came with the Sunfire (MK7 Isuzu)

  • so the 3.8 wil bolt up to a 5 speed out od a grand am i wanan put a 5 speed in a 98 gtp do uhave to beef it up any and nice car by the way must really go

  • thats a 3.4 liter engine not a 3.8 the your thinking of a 3800 motor and thats a 3400

  • damnnnnnn

    thats a lot of powahhh

    SUNFIRE ROCKS !!

  • Wicked dude, that fire is going to haul ass!!
