  • Very nice machine!

  • Holy cow this brings back memories....

  • Creepiest start-up chime ever!

  • The crash sound for this computer is scary.

  • MORE RAM PLZ SWAP FILE IS DUMB

  • That computer lusts after more RAM, it's tired of using the swap file on the hard disk for RAM.

  • this was the first computer i had. i remember playing power pete on it.

  • i use to love when hard drives made that sound, i miss those days

  • Whats that double clicking noise at 0:09 when you clicked on the power key? Is that normal for it to do that everytime?

  • @crzy4MAC12 Sounds like the speakers.

  • How many megs of RAM, Carmine?

  • @CaptainJeanLPicard

    - 8 !

    - I knew you were a power-user! :P

  • LOL, my dad has this computer stored away in the garage! It even came complete with a Apple computer monitor like the one you have! I wonder if it still works...because if it does, well, that will be pretty surprising! :)

  • Anybody remember a bundled game for this series that had something to do with geography trivia, and each time you got some questions right, it showed a plane traveling around the globe, and whoever got around first won the game? What game was that?

  • Haha, this was my first computer. I ran 8.5 on it, and the machine was qutie buggy, the powermacs were much better.

  • I have a 6400 :D

  • A great deal of the fun of owing a pc or mac was lost when they started making them silent!

  • I heard the Apple Performa 6300 CD has a built in TV Capture card, right?

  • I've heard that upgrading to OS 8 solves many of the problems associated with this machine series.

  • but then you cant use the PowerCD! :D

  • I have one of these! I bought one recently, and they are the best. I love the startup sound, as it is pretty rare.

It's maxed out with cache and it has 64mb

of RAM. The previous owner included a TV tuner and an RCA input system. Gotta have it(:

I suggest that you put System 7.5.5 on it, even though the restore CD came with 7.5.1. 7.5.5 runs faster and leaner.

  • Can you make the disk image of your Apple 7.5.1 CD?

  • I'll get around to it eventually. It's around 200-300 MB but when I get the chance, I will.

  • I've suggest to use the disk image of your Apple System 7.5.1 CD to use it on Basilisk II via System 7.5 Update 1.0.

Can you use mediafire . com to uploading the Cd image with stuffIt parts.

  • i gotta powerbook g3 right now and i'm getting a powermac 7600 mac classic color

    and something else!!!

i got a video about my powerbook check it out

  • Apple made this computer well!!!!!!!! Nice looking, high quality plastics, easy to use and elegant, I hate how so many people bash the Permora line, this was and is a GREAT COMPUTER, PERFORMA 6360 owner and FAN!!!!!!!!

  • It's amazing how long Macs last.

I have a 5400 upgraded to a 5500 with a 400 MHz upgrade that will browse the modern internet.

    Amazing...

  • if it has firewire and 256mb ram and atleast a 10gb hdd u could put tiger on it :D:p

  • we had a mac performa 6300 and it lasted for 19years never any problems!

  • I gave mine to some friends and they still use it to play Lode Runner and other classic games...

  • @macpipkin answering from a 7200/120 :)

  • Nice Mac, yours is newer than mine, though. I have a 6100/60. (I've got an external hard drive hooked up to it also!)

  • LOVE that startup sound.

  • OMG, POWER PETE, and LOAD RUNNER in the middle of the games folder!!!!!! I remember wasting so much of my days playing those games. LOVED IT!

I owned a Performa 6290CD. The funny thing is I also thought my computer was the only one with the jammed volume up button. Glad to see others had the issue too and not just me, hahaha!

  • its 7.53(?) its 7.xx I fiddled around with macintosh on my pc a couple years ago.. there's systems 1-7 and then at 7.5x(maybe) they started calling it mac os.

  • Yea i'll make a video of how full the hardrive is... I bet you will be very surprised.

  • and btw, that machine would boot a lot faster if you removed some of those extensions (the puzzle piece like icons at startup). seems like your harddrive is pretty full.

  • hahaha i noticed your up volume button is jammed. so is mine on my old performa... i guess it wasnt just ME all those years as I thought.

  • Good ole System 7. I have that on my Power Macintosh 5400. I should probably upload a vid of that old clunker one of these days.

  • If you can, I'd recommend you put System 7.5.3 on. You can download it free from Apple, and it contains many good features like the control strip, and is good and stable. Not spamming or anything, but I have a vid of my old performa running 7.5.3 if you want to take a look. Windowshade, Stickies and Control Strip are in my opinion the three most useful additions.

You can actually probably put OS 8 or 9 on that, but they'd be pretty slow.

  • I actually have 7.5.5 on my ancient Mac. It works really well for it.

  • ...I have 7.5.3 on my Performa 450 (LC III) - i.e. - ANCIENT MACHINE!

  • I have 8.6 on my Power Macintosh 5260.

  • Wait, what?! Pangea Software?! Sweet!

  • w00t! You have the original Mac OS! I have it on my Macintosh IIsi.

  • The Mac IIsi was a great model. I had one myself.

I gave it to a friend of mine who became a switcher a loooooong time ago.

  • Thats normal for a computer this old. lol it even beat the 98 although it is older than it!

  • Why the system boots so slow?

  • I donno what that means; sry, but everything seems to be working fine:)

  • looks like you have an extension crossed out during the startup screen. what is it?

  • yea sorry it broke down.

  • Hey, no original mouse.
