I have an 03 vibe gt 1.8 6 speed same matrix xrs I had it to 125 just this past weekend on accident, i was passed by a gti and crx and i was traveling around 70mph, so i down shifted to third to try and catch them, well the gt has VVTL-i like drunkennewfiemidget said, and this pulled me up to speed real fast, i was blowing by them and decided to look down sure enough 125 damn and it still handled well and still had more, most people see these cars and laugh, until you blow their doors off.

The XRS (2zz) motor is VVTL-i.

And the AWD only came in automatic. Even a 5-speed AWD wasn't an option.

Toyota screwed up the AWD pretty bad. It's slower than a snail in molasses in winter, and doesn't have the option of the high output motor thanks to the crap viscous coupler for the rear diff that would be destroyed in no time if you put any real power to it.

The Vibe GT is a 1.8L aswell. (Unless it's the 09+.)

It's just a different motor with a different cam profile, valve setup, shorter stroke, larger bore.

i actually drove an 06 xr automatic the other day. It goes 100, but after that the car really struggles though. My guess is that top speed is around 117 mph if given enough road lol
