@SuperWallyChamp dude why you saying "you guys still swear allegiance to the british crown" ??....i'm not Canadian..and the United States certainly does not.
@SuperWallyChamp It's not really that widespread on TV and Radio, they have their own French media, why would they want to read newspapers in their second language for example? The English you've heard in the streets is more likely than not tourists, I can guarantee this. Where in Quebec have you been exactly and where the hell have you been reading these stories? Are you trying to tell me that in the 1960's people didn't speak French and now they do? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?
@pittsburgh0764 I know that the french gave up quebec as a colony in the 1700s and I know that the british have ruled it ever since (you guys still swear allegiance to the british crown lol). The only reason some speak french in quebec is bc the govt started forcing kids to learn it in school, relatively recently
@SuperWallyChamp It's pretty clear you know nothing about Quebec's history. You need to understand that the majority of Quebecians have French heritage, French is their mother tongue, it always has been. They didn't speak English at some point and then started speaking French again because of schools or the government. Most white Canadians have British blood, Quebecians however have French blood. It's very simple...
@KoivuTheHab Having french blood doesnt mean you speak french. I am french and i have been to quebec and they are not natural french speakers. It's obvious. Of course many quebequois speak fine french but i think it is disingenuous when they pretend not to know any english, considing that they have been under british rule way longer and more recently than under french rule.
@SuperWallyChamp Let me give you another example, I am Finnish, I belong to the 7% in my country that speak Swedish as their mother tongue. The Swedish Empire lost Finland (area, it was never independent in medival times) to Russia in a war 1809. We were part of Russia until 1917 when we gained our independence. Why would it somehow be strange that I still speak Swedish as my mother tongue? Our culture is the same as Finnish culture, Quebecois are more less similar to fellow Canadians. Simple.
@KoivuTheHab I am sure you also speak Finnish. Only the most isolated people in quebec would not know any english and only french. English is all over the tv and the radio and in the streets. It is possible that they wouldnt know english, but it would have to be because they make a choice to avoid it
@SuperWallyChamp Sure I also speak perfect Finnish, I'm from the city. It's not the case for people who live in the countryside though, there are plenty of areas where very few speak very good Finnish, some can't speak, perhaps understand Finnish at best. This is the same in Quebec, in larger cities/towns (especially in Western part) English knowledge is better than in the countryside. In Quebec they commonly don't need English in their community as everyone speaks French.
58% English, 22% french, 20%aboriginal languages. , funny how people are saying that the French-canadian don't want to .... learn English ? lol.. wtf are you talking about.. they all do speak english... its a question of respect for the culture.... Oh i forgot ... you know what respect is right ?.... just saying.
@Styleeishable cause french shouldnt be in canada, its a waste of our tax payers money paying for translators for signs and products, just because you wont learn the language that 85 percent of canada speaks. if you like french. move to france
@Dolmaner if you like english move to england....... actualy all america (north to south) should go back to europe cuz no american are speaking the local language..... and french are not in canada they are in quebec...english are in Canada....they came in canada.... study your history and keep you comments for you next time.....and dont ruin my fun listening to these vids!
@pierreetienne12 why dont you go back to france? theres a hell of a lot more english speaking in Canada then french, and lol sorry for ruining all your fun
@Dolmaner How is it your taxes, it's the taxes of Quebec residents. French is the official language of Quebec and the French (Jacques Cartier) were the first to set foot in North America.
@Dolmaner So you said I shouldnt be part of Canada ? Well you don't know anything about us, why do you judge. My family is from New-Brunswick, USA, France, Québec, but I was raise in Montreal in French. I'm proud of my origin and I'm canadian. Like me, there's a lot of Quebecers call themselves Canadian.
@Styleeishable you don't understand that these vids are jokes. If you check many Guillaume vids, he pronounces it different every time which is pretty funny. There's no social debate to have on this.
How the fuck does this shit have over 20,000 views.
