  • The Wild Bunch get tamed...beautiful. The best spit and sawdust western you'll ever see.

  • Muchas gracias a ustedes por sus comentarios. Un fuerte abrazo!

  • *THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR "LA GOLONDRINA". I love this Mexican song of Narciso Serrradell Sevilla so much. I have now more than 810 versions of "La Golondrina"/or "Las Golondrinas"/or "She Wears My Ring"/or "Cet Anneau D'Or"/etc... -instrumentals and songs/ world-wide. WHO IS MORE INTERESTED TO GET SOME IN .mp3, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THNX! Regards!

  • Gracias. Es muy hermosa.

  • La Golondrina (The Swallow) - Check out the film "Big Wednesday" it runs the theme all through. AND it'sxc a great film. I learned to play it just because of the film. Isn't life inspiring sometimes!

  • Such a beautiful song...

  • It appears that the film name was "The Wild bunch", then, Who or what is the name of the siging group, choir or musical band?

  • Beautiful song and interpretation. What was the name of the film...if any?

  • shit ....ahnold swarzenneger and co stole the the last battle scene for the predetor movie.... all the slow motion explosions and gunshot victims grimacing in pain..right down to ahnolds character "Dutch" nothin is sacred.. they even had that small gattlin gun...please!!!

  • @ardisbay10 ....novice.....get back to your ghay porn

  • cool

  • was this not recorded as "she wears my ring"?

odd the Mexican prodigal son is Puerto Rican

  • @zeuqzavaj LOL.

  • The song was composed by Narciso Serradel (1843-1910) and it became so popular, that today it is considered as a folk song.

  • 5 stars !

  • Something about the song "stirs the soul". I have an instrumental version from the album from the movie (track - "la Golondrina - End credits")-Beautiful!!! I may not know the language, but I can recognize remarkable quality when I hear it. It was many years since I heard this song in the movie. I finally remembered the movie and thank God for youtube...I found it at last. There is right about the passion that comes from the people/language/heritage of the Mexican people in general.

  • Peter Jackson, that nasty thief, stole this scene for RotK (Faramir goes to battle). But that one is not even near. Peckinpah rocks.

  • This is so moving... Something strange happened in this scene. You can feel that they're all already dead men, but nevertheless they're facing their fate with such a calm acceptance, such a manly, understated poise, that the whole thing cannot but bring tears to your eyes.

  • It was unfortunate that when this film was released most of the attention centred around criticising the violence in it, and too many people overlooked what an utter work of genius it actually was.. and is. Forty years on it still ranks as the best Western ever made. This scene is perhaps the most poignant in the entire film, symbolising the resignation of men realising that their time on Earth was drawing to a close. No matter how many times I watch it I always end up with tears in my eyes.

  • Yet another song from Mexico that no Anglo in this world could have written nor sung. They just don't have it in them.

  • @tommytruth I appreciate this great tune featured in this film but I also take great exception to ignorant comments like: "no Anglo in this world could have written or sung. They don't have it in them." I'm not sure how you define "Anglo" or what you mean when you say (we) don't have "it" in (us). I suggest you check out: "Minstrel Boy" by Thomas Moore or "Danny Boy" by Frederick Weatherly. If time / space allowed I'd list a lot more. Learn to appreciate music for what it is, not it's origins.

  • I agree with Tommy. Mexican music is so distinctive and uniquely beautiful. No disrespect to the other fine airs you quote, previous poster.

  • and before you get on your high horse sidDkid, imagine a Mexican band murdering Danny Boy which can only be effectively rendered by the Irish....lol

  • The best scene in that fine movie.

  • @tommytruth I somewhat but can not totally agree with here . . . for THE BEST scene in this fine movie look up: "THE WILD BUNCH-1969-THEY!" (also on You Tube)

  • Yes that is another great scene, the Ed O'Brien monologue, but those two scenes are so different that it's just a matter of one's own tastes. I think the whole film is a masterpiece and it teems with potenially favourite scenes!

  • ah ! magnifique Film ,

    lol

as with many other types of men , good rebels are as often made as born !

  • As with many other types of men , good rebels are as often made as born !

  • Jedna z najpiękniejszych i wzruszających scen filmowych, to scena z filmu "Dzika banda" (The Wild Bunch) kiedy to William Holden jako Pike Bishop i Ernest Borgnine jako Dutch Englstorm na czele swojej bandy opuszczają biedną meksykańską wioskę, a mieszkańcy żegnają ich właśnie "La colondriną" (Jaskółką)

  • My favourite scene in the film.Very moving.

If you watch "the Wire" you will see that David Simon, the writer, manages to work in several quotes from the Wild Bunch into the series.

  • A song and a movie to live fore ever.

  • lyrics of the song (Spanish.) ¿A dónde ira?. ( again)

  • I was looking for this song since 30 years now ! Thanks to all of you who posted it !

  • Sam Peckinpah show the way to make movies we will never forget!!

  • That was the best Western, I have ever seen, maybe because of the song. I have refreshed my knowledge of spanish to understand the lyrics of the song. And did you know that princess Christina from Danmark or was it Netherland sang this song on the funerla of her nephew?

  • It was Princess Christine signing at the funeral of her father Prince Bernard. prince-cohort of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands.

The texts of La Golondrina all differ slightly in Spanish.

Who can give me the definite Spanish version the way it was written in Vera Cruz, Mexico?

  • @majarein It was Princess Christina singing at the funeral of her father Prince Bernhard, cohort of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands.

  • @majarein It was princess Cristina of the Netherlands en sang of her fathers funeral.

  • @majarein she was a princess from the Netherlands who sang on her fathers funeral, it was his most lovely song.

    She sang it so good.

  • A very old song,I have asked my sons to play this for me when I check out...

  • The song "La Golondrina" (The Swallow) was sung in the middle of the movie when The Wild Bunch rides out of Angels home village for the final showdown and again with the closing credits of the film.

  • The Wild Bunch 1969 sound track. TY

  • Does anyone know the name of the closing vocal to The Wild buch sound track?

  • a touching scene and the best western film I've seen.

  • About two years ago I happened to see the movie. It was the scene at the End and the song that made it unforgettable for me. And it was the song, that brought me to You Tube.

  • This month is the 40th anniversary of Sam Peckinpah's master piece.

  • Possibly one of the greatest scenes laid to film.

The composition, lighting and music are absolutely chilling.

  • Warren Oates should have stayed in that town. RIP Warren.

  • Good. but listen to karina singing "La Golondrina" Maribel Llaudes sapanish singer is wonderful

  • This is one of the most moving, intertaining, bewitching, addicting films ever made. Fielding's music, especially La Golondrina, bring tears to the eyes. Peckinpah's art will endure the years.

  • I am sure Fielding stole the tune for this song from an Irish melody. 'When you are in Love.'

  • That is so ridiculous I don't know where to begin.

Saying Jerry Fielding "stole" this song is insinuating he is claiming to be the composer.

Even if he did have the gall to steal something and claim is as his (which he did not), I'm sure he'd pick something other than one of the world's oldest folk songs which La Golondrina is.

  • Fistly it isn't one of the oldest folksongs in fact as folksongs go it is quite recent. Some in the UK are 800 years old.

Because he stole the song doesn't mean he was the composer in fact just the opposite. I am merey pointing out that the same tune was song in Ireland long before La Golondrina was even heard of.

  • Do you know the lyrics to "When You Are In Love?"

  • Would someone please post English translation of lyrics . (La Golondrina, not the later adaptation to "She wears my ring")

    Thank you,I am most grateful!

  • Did not really expect to find this small pearl on youtoube. Thanks for posting!

  • this movie is a true masterpiece . it succeeds on so many levels.

  • law and order?

    Puah!

  • Concerning your comments about the song la golodrina in the Wild Bunch film, you obviously need to watch it again. None of these outlaws robbed or looted Angel's village. And they are singing the song, because commonly it's a song you would sing when you don't expect to see someone again... in this case, no one expects to see anyone in the "wild bunch" again.

  • I always cry at the end of the film, when Peckinpah plays again this scene. It looks like a way to Heaven, because they've finally got redemption and peace. (Excuse me, my english is horrible)

  • Don't apologize at all Aizkorri, your English is great. Before I read your commit I was wishing I could read Spainish better so I could see what people were saying about this scene and this song.

I think your commmit is right on. This scene is very poient in the middle of the film, and is especially brilliant when Sam uses this for the final scene of the movie, it makes it even more moving.

  • This is a very moving part of the film, where this song fits in with the mood of the moment.

A way of life is changing for the group. I agree Peckinpah was genius indeed. As they ride out the village, the "Farewell song is sung to them, very dramatic.

  • the best movie,

  • Soloman King made a naff version of this called "She wears my ring"...shouldn't 've

  • snifff

  • That fat SOB Peter Jackson stole this for RotK. Faramir's departing scene. But this is far better. Peckinpah was a genius.

    Poor Angel...
