no the processors of iphone and iphone touch are different.

not much but different.

the newest version ipod touch was slightly higher overclocked than iphone one

now it is't but yest the are downclocked from 600mhz to 544mhz.

(latest version) they wont make it higher because of heat and power use

Ipod Touch 3G will probably make it higher, if the processor is on a smaller die.

Yes they both run a 667Mhz ARM9 based processor as far as we can tell.

I thought they used 600Mhz ARM11 processor clocked down to 400Mhz. clocked down to save power

Half true it turns out. The chips are 667Mhz ARM11 chips but thy are indeed scaled down to 400Mhz except in the Touch second generation where it is scaled to 533Mhz. So if you want the fastest performance at a second gen touch like i did, totally worth it.

nah.. the GUI is perfected for finger usage. The only thing where the buttons are a liittle bit too small is the keypad but I'd still rather search for a key with my thumb than press keys with a stylus :S that is even further from regular typing.
