how often do you guys get shot at like compared to infantry and why is it that everyone in pj or tacp jtac looks older also how hard is it to get into this
@10oner the air force enlisted is mainly made up of technicians, we're normally not in a situation that require us to fight unless you are special forces, like you listed, or security forces. but we do lend a hand to the army quite often so you could technically be a jet mechanic working alongside a ranger in a convoy for a year in the desert. ask a recruiter about getting into specific career fields. First, you must qualify of a job with your asvab scores, then pass tech school.
ahahahaha all of you are hilarious. NUMBER 11. being security forces and staring at one side of a plane for 16 hours a day with eight hours of crew rest before you have to be back in to work for your 4 am shift. working true panamas (3 on 3 off 2 on 2 off.) where they call you in on your off days. The real air force.
Silly jokes really. I'm disappointed with this mostly cause only 4% of the air force are pilots and this gives the wrong idea. I will be leaving for basic in a couple days.
ok so this was so saddening to watch, but i have to say #1 had to be the best one. In fact where did they find these people? ive been in ramstein for almost 3 years and never seen any of these people
Sorry to inform you, but you're wrong. IN 1994, the Air Force took away the circle insignia for enlisted, and we all wore just a plain U.S. insignia. Then in 2008, it was restored to the way it used to be, with enlisted wearing a circle insignia.
@goddamnbouy The AF actually did away with the enlisted circled US insignia for a while; we were all required to wear the "officer" insignia. They just went back to the circled insignia for enlisted personnel a couple of years ago. The TSgt was actualy wearing the correct insignia as of the air date.
@goddamnbouy just to let you know, Mr. Expert, when the Air Force switched to the current Service Blues in the 1990s, they eliminated the Enlisted U.S. insignia however, that was unpopular and the Enlisted insignia returned about 2 years ago but this video was posted 3 years ago
@goddamnbouy Obviously you dont know we all wore that type of US insignia for awhile, O's and E's. May want to do a little research before saying something stupid on a public forum.
@goddamnbouy Obviously you dont know we all wore that type of US insignia for awhile, O's and E's. May want to do a little research before saying something stupid on a public forum.
@goddamnbouy Technically when this way made, Enlisted and Officers wore the same U.S. insignia. The return of Enlisted personnel wearing the heritage circled U.S. insignia happened several years ago.
One team, one fight, let's kill terrorists and feel alright!!! I'm gonna join Air Force!!!!! Already did well on ASVAB; but my uncle wanted to make sure i didn't get a, "numbers," type of recruiter, so I postponed it :( I'm gonna give the test another go to get an even higher score!!!
hahaha a friend of mine, took the asvab, and didn't get enough points to join. tried again later on and had a worst score than before. hahaha. then again i'm talking about an individual the had a "D" in a basic multiplication / division test. Hope everything goes well and you get what you want and deserve. bye bye :)
@Omatusano Good luck. Glad to hear more people are thinking about joining the Air Force. I, myself, am joining. I'll be heading to MEPS in a few weeks to get my proccessing finished and swear in. What job were you looking into?

Yep, I had a cool desk job! Getting up early in the mornings, going out to the jet, running pre-flight checks for an hour, launching the jet out and recovering it when it finishes it's flight. Then spending 3 hours on a Basic Post Flight inspection including donning coveralls and climbing into the exhause of the engines. Finally finishing up after a 12 hour day if I'm lucky and don't have to fix anything broken on the jet. Yep, I loved my desk job in the Air Force.
If you were in the ROTC, why would you be assigned an enlisted rank? The Reserve OFFICER Training Corps (ROTC) is supposed to spit 0-1s out onto active duty when they graduate from college. Or were you in the JROTC in high school?
Not being an ass, sorry if it sounds like it. I'm just curious about your comment.
ya very good grades especialy in math and science. also athletics probably help out a lot and you have to get a letter signed by a guy i forgot who sorry. its a very hard school to get into
Not sure what school you're referring to, but if you're talking about the Air Force Academy, you'll need pretty much perfect grades, and I believe you need an endorsement letter from a congressman or senator before they'll even consider you.
For regular entrance into the USAF, it's not as stringent but you still have to do fairly well on the ASVAB to open yourself up to most of the good AFSC's (Air Force Specialty Code, which defines what your job is - the Air Force equivalent of an Army MOS)

haha. Yeahh. I'm surprised that the percentage is that high. Perhaps 15% of officers are pilots?
As for getting a 99...I've always just been fortunate with standardized test taking. (:

Yep, I had a cool desk job! Getting up early in the mornings, going out to the jet, running pre-flight checks for an hour, launching the jet out and recovering it when it finishes it's flight. Then spending 3 hours on a Basic Post Flight inspection including donning coveralls and climbing into the exhause of the engines. Finally finishing up after a 12 hour day if I'm lucky and don't have to fix anything broken on the jet. Yep, I loved my desk job in the Air Force.
mbraase 3 years ago
True that is .... :-)
Like I said,my buddy is in the AF so I have no qualms.
All the branches are good in what they do.
Like my buddy also says:
"Armys got the ground power-AF's got the nukes ;-)You can beat me up--but I can nuke you..."

i WAS IN AIR FORCE ROTC aS 1st Lt. FOR THREE YEARS WITH E-3 RECOMMANDATION UNDER MY BELT.
ANDREWFW21 3 years ago
If you were in the ROTC, why would you be assigned an enlisted rank? The Reserve OFFICER Training Corps (ROTC) is supposed to spit 0-1s out onto active duty when they graduate from college. Or were you in the JROTC in high school?
Not being an ass, sorry if it sounds like it. I'm just curious about your comment.

What do you gata do to enter you gata have very good grades? exactly or what.
mieroku 3 years ago
ya very good grades especialy in math and science. also athletics probably help out a lot and you have to get a letter signed by a guy i forgot who sorry. its a very hard school to get into
koolaidbergaide 3 years ago
Not sure what school you're referring to, but if you're talking about the Air Force Academy, you'll need pretty much perfect grades, and I believe you need an endorsement letter from a congressman or senator before they'll even consider you.
For regular entrance into the USAF, it's not as stringent but you still have to do fairly well on the ASVAB to open yourself up to most of the good AFSC's (Air Force Specialty Code, which defines what your job is - the Air Force equivalent of an Army MOS)
JBCPES603 3 years ago
thanks man i hope to go there anything i can do early to get reconized?
koolaidbergaide 3 years ago
Score a 93 or above on the ASVAB and you'll get one of your Top3 jobs. I got a 99 and got one of mine. Love it, too.
