Hey what do u use to catch shad? just a jig? i was fishing on a river a couple days back and had a shad... i thought it was some minnow creature...

a hickory shad? wut part o the country r u in? use darts or small jigs...they both work nicely..run 2 jigs 12-18" apart on ur line..

it wasnt a hickory shad... it was pretty small about a pound. i used a small jig to catch smallmouth and he got on my line... it was on the ohio river.

hmm, prolly a gizzard shad..nasty slimy sons o bitches!

they get up to 6-8 pounds round here

Yup, that is the fish i caught. Ya when i was removing the hook he was probably the slimiest fish i handled.

well thanks bro! these shad r only in the creek for like 5 weeks to spawn in the spring and then they're out till the next year!

they are hickory shad and get around 18-22 inches long!
