  • Wow! I actually remember watching this when I was younger...before I knew who either character was! Soo funny.

  • 0:35 Gandalfs first appearance

  • It's almost a shame the Amish people will never see this movie.

  • let's see Liv Tyler in a cape dress and prayer kapp for TOTAL EPIC WIN.

And lucky, lucky me--I live less than 45 minutes from Lancaster county :D:D:D

    Amish Aragorn=<3 <3 <3

  • Actually, this was also Kelly McGillis first big role as well. Harrison found her waiting tables at a restaurant he was at and asked her to audition for the role.

  • I added this 3 years ago?!!!! WTF? time FLIES!

  • @dreamsnfairies

Don't fall for the illusion that your life within the last 3 years is made of Youtube. Nothing happens here. In the contrary, a lot happened in your life.

  • luv the arrow effect, pointing out the bleeding obvious tee hee hee.

ps. Viggo has definately got a thing about snakes :-)

  • The reason why Ford knew the names of the tools is because he used to work as a carpenter, even while he was getting his first minor acting roles.

  • @enigmaticallyso in fact he was a master carpenter! he was hired to build new cabinets for George Lucas, which is how they met, and eventually got the role in American Graffiti

  • If this was Die Hard, Alexander Godunov aka Karl would have beat the shit out of the guy in the yellow hat for putiing ice cream on his face.

  • @clineshaunt Wow. I'm surprised. when I saw that guy, 00:36 he really looked like Christopher Lambert.

  • he's versatile..ever seen the road?

  • @easyrider827 I did see the road, I had read the book and loved it so when I found out Viggo was lead actor well how could I not have seen it lol

With that said, Viggo is a great actor but the novel was better lol

  • @dreamsnfairies True but The Lord of The Rings was a better book than it was a film and still the film was amazing.

  • Tis a fine barn but it is no pool

  • this was back when Kelly McGillis was still hot...

  • Great clips, I cant seem to find one with just Alexander Godunov on youtube, he was also great in this movie.

  • Thank you for this. JUDITHJ1 is right. Those eyes just draw me in.

Loved him in A History Of Violence.

  • so aragorn was amish...

  • KingPin is a lot different than i remember

  • Re: the comment about Ford by Mortensen - Ford was a carpenter before he was an actor - he built the kitchen in a friend of mine's home.

I remember thinking when I saw Witness that Viggo was a hottie - he's the kind of guy you just can't take your eyes off of. Whew...

  • viggo is timeless...lol

  • the guy with blond hair is a German terrorist in the movie Die Hard......

  • wow, he looks almost exactly the same as he does now in his 40's! Immortally good looking...

  • @cassiecatUCT hes already 52 years old

  • Cool!

Viggo is the best actor ever;)

  • Why do they say "English too" "English too!" at 1:00. What does that even mean in this movie? All the Amish in this film call John "the Englishman"?

  • @KillSwitch2, because he's not Amish. If you'll notice, he replies "Yes, sir." to them. What they're implying is "Hey, you were working on this, too?". The Amish call all Americans "English" because that's what the original American colonists were. The Amish are German.

  • Comment removed

  • been a while since I saw some good amish hooters

  • i ddn't know this..... the first time i watched him was in lord of the rings

  • Amish of Rohan~!

  • The blond guy who had ice-cream smeared all over his face died in the mid 90s from alcoholism.

  • ya lo sabía :)

  • Viggo Mortensen is a SEX-BOMB!!! <3

  • 00:32 damn. he's a good looking fella

  • Odd seeing the Amish joke around about balls and such, but they do. And it's a misconception that the Amish won't fight--they won't kill, but the boys will fight. Go to school with some of the boys and see if they won't fight you under certain circumstances.

  • @unluckymonkeyboy, to your first, why is that odd?of course they like a good joke, the dirtier the better.

to your second, boys? yes, adults? no. They are strict pacifists and do not fight under any circumstances. I lived in Maryland for two years, I went to school with Amish kids, I know what I'm talking about.

@mountanstandardtime, they speak Pennsylvania Dutch which is a form of German but it's not what you would hear if you went to Germany.

  • @peacecanhappen27 They speak Pennsylvania Dutch, that's right, and you can hear this very similar in Germany in the Palatinate because that's the area where the Amish came from.

  • @Lucy9596 Our teacher told us that the Amish people originally came from Switzerland? But yeah they're talking Pennsylvania Dutch.

  • @EmilTwo He is right and me too, kind of...

The history of the Amish church began with a schism in Switzerland within a group of Swiss and Alsatian Anabaptists in 1693 led by Jakob Ammann. Those who followed Ammann became known as Amish. These followers were originally from three main places: the German-speaking parts of Switzerland, Alsace (now part of France), and the Palatinate of Germany.

  • @Lucy9596 Oh! Thank you for telling me that! We have about "The Amish Lifestyle" in our school and i think it is a really exciting topic, and i didn't knew that! :-). (Yes, i know what Wikipeida is, but let's face it - i'll just end up copy-pasting the text or right something completly similar) ! I'm from Denmark so sorry if there is some "spelling-errors".

  • @EmilTwo

I'm living in the Palatinate so there's some history. Amish came originally from the Mennonites, they still live here in several townships.

  • @Lucy9596 Oh ,well then you know a bit about the history of the Amish people :-).

  • @EmilTwo There are many sub dialects of German. Pennsylvania Dutch is derived from Palatinate German, which is the dialect of the Rhine region of Germany. Also the Amish not only came from Switzerland but also this region of Germany. after the groups arrived in the United States the two dialects (palatinate german and swiss german) merged into what we know today as Pennsylvania Dutch. my family came to the US in the 1760s from germany and settled in York and Lancaster county among the Amish.

  • I grew up in Maryland and had alot of contact with the Amish in Pennsylvania. They speak German. I had no problems communicating with them as my fathers side of the family is from Germany and I speak fluent German. Very nice people.

  • what language do they speak ? and .. what is Amish ..?

  • @CameMyTurn they speak "pennsylvanian dutch". you can compaire it to a mix of german and englisch.

  • @Julie00002 aha .. thank you !

  • @CameMyTurn they speak Pennsylvania Dutch, which is a form of german. it originally came from the dialect they speak in the Rhine region of germany. the Amish were followers of Jakob Ammann, a leader in the Mennonite church who broke away from them, emphasizing total isolation. they have very strict rules regarding contact with outsiders, who might 'contaminate' their beliefs. they are NOT a cult, but a very devout group who wish simply to be left alone. google them, quite interesting!

  • haha, wow, I'd punch that jerk for bullying me with ice cream on my nose & cheeks.

  • My brothers house is 3 miles from the farm used in the movie. He lives about 4 miles from Strasburg on White Oak road. Sadly about two hours from my home in Franklin County Pa. It makes for a nice motorcycle ride but tourist make it a real pain in the a¤# to visit him in the summer. The farms driveway is paved now and they moved the bird house around back, other than that it's the same as it was in the movie. It was the last I seen it anyway.

  • Harrison Ford???????

  • This is a great film, regardless of whether wooden Viggo was in it or not

  • that man has not aged in 25 years

  • yeah, no doubt

  • @PoilishedMahogony he is chief of the dunedain .. remember

  • WOW! I had no clue he was in this film!

  • viggo probably said "aragorn is better than han solo" when they shook hands

  • great movie and beautiful soundtrack

  • Nice job putting this together. Man, Viggo has been a hottie from the get-go. But I have one criticism/correction. In the buggy scene with the townies Viggo's character is not saying "They're snakes Daniel". He's saying "Do nothing Daniel" in German "Tut nicht, Daniel"

  • I guess Viggo didn't know Harrison had been a carpenter before he switched to dramatics. : )

  • thanks for putting this together, I totally didn't realise it was viggo watching this the first time round :)

  • @luvpunkie Is it worth watching? I haven't looked into it yet. I'm having a Viggo-a-thon of sorts. :D

  • I wish the Amish in my area were that good looking ^^

  • The blond haired gui is a russian.

  • Which one is Viggo?? The blonde haired guy?

  • I remember watching this film but I didn't notice Viggo :P

  • cool they are talking in german^^

  • o god....

viggo mortensen is like the hottest mand ever !!! even now !!

  • wow there is alexander gudonov, he was an amazing ballet dancer.

his videos are here in youtube. everyone should watch them.

  • yes, i too was impressed by viggos acting..he understands mens passions intuitively, and yes, he is one of the most "honest" faces ive seen..was he a real amish, and not an actor??

  • I am sure most are aware but for those not

Regarding the text about ford being into the building of the barn and wanting particular tools....he did make his living as a carpenter before he made it big

  • Please post the entire Witness movie and I will love you forever - or at least until I finish watching the movie.

  • lol

  • well done! this was so much fun to see!! :D

  • Thank you! for upload this vid!!!

  • Viggo Mortensen= Sexiest Amish Guy Ever...

  • @shawncutter If Amish men look like Viggo, I'll convert.

  • @citizenlen me 2! and I am an atheist! ;)

  • @shawncutter WORD!

  • VAMOS CICLON CARAJO!!!!!!!

  • cool

  • Director Peter stated that he was so impressed with openess and honesty of Viggo's face that he included him in as many shot as possible. Mortensen said that he had such a good experience working on the film that was when he decided to pursue acting as a career. This is a wonderful movie and certainly Harrison Ford's best role.

  • i agree with you it was Harrison Fords best film and he has made a lot of good ones
