Hey I'm going to get a DVS and was wondering if I should get torq or traktor scratch duo. Oh and btw traktor just lowered there price to $200. I like torq but I've been hearing a lot of bad things about it. On the other hand I think traktor duo is too limited. Someone pleas help!!
Can you show the setting in torq and ableton you use. Because it seems that I can use vinyl mode when im in Ableton torq says its in slave mode thks alot.
I was just windering, we're really trying to sync two laptops. One of them, the pc is running ableton live 8 suite, and the mac is running torq with connective. We would like the mac to be the master, the question is how can we send midi signals from torq, through an axiom 25, connected to the mac, so we could sync it with a novation remote sl to the pc running ableton. So basically we can't figure out how to send out the midi clock from torq throug a midi controller.
Love it , well done! I have Torq 1.5 and Ableton 7, so have been meaning to set up rewire for some time. It's a shame Ableton don;t get together with M-Audio and actually build it in to the Torq software as an option when you buy it. As you don;t need all of Lives functions/add ons etc, and Torqs samplers are crude to say the least.
this is the best set up ive seen that is really easy to work, once you figure out how to set it up like this lol i got torq too an i love how it does the same if not even more then serato. sertaro is good but over priced and over rated so i saved some coin and bought my self an axiom when i got my torq :D more well prived toys are better then one really expensive toy
When using torq on external control with Vinyl does Torq beat match them with the sync button or is it a case of when using vinyl you can't sync them but have to mix and keep it in time using the vary speed the traditional way?
This rewire setup is pretty hot. Some pads of the MPD go to Ableton to launch scenes, while some trigger Torq to load a sample to scratch with? Any other audio sources? Or the turntable on the right is only for setting the tempo? I like this technical approach to DJing, great video!
....yeah, it's ableton, everything is warped.... you mean in Torq? Torq has tempo anchors for songs with variable tempo, but this particular track has a steady beat so it's not necessary....but Torq's tempo anchors do the same thing as ableton warp.
Really nice to see a demo of a DVS controlling Live over MIDI, I'd heard Torq 1.5 had added this functionality (and in doing so, beaten the Ableton + Serato hook up to the punch by a LONG shot, considering they've gone completely silent as to development progress) and this vid is a damn fine example of what I wanted to see in action.
Out of interest have you tried scratching with the deck that's outputting the MIDI clock? If so, does it send Live beserk?! lol :-)
Yeah, forget about scratching or cueing the deck that's sent to master tempo, what i usually do is turn sync off, so ableton keeps playing while I scratch, then I drop the record back in on time and turn the sync back on. As soon as it gets to the next downbeat, they are locked again. Shit is really ill.
you can't use external control with rewire. You have to start Torq first, and use MBC to sync ableton. You'll also need an additional soundcard for ableton's output. You can use your onboard sound with asio4all drivers. Sorry i been slackin' on the tutorial. Why not join torq forum and PM me... I'll get you sorted. Peace!
Nope, You need 2 soundcards..... you can use your laptop's onboard sound with asio4all drives, and get an RCA to 1/8" adapter to hook the headphone jack to your mixer.
This just sealed the deal on me buying Connectiv over Scratch of SSL. I can't give up my Ableton but I'm just now getting into working with real decks. Thanks for the eye opening video!
wow, that´s great stuff. i read your comment & instructions @ m-audio forum. I tried it myself with my setup and it really works fantastic. I just would like to know which samples u are using and were u get them from.Maybe PM? thank´s a lot man
I will do a tutorial on how to set this up, I'm experimenting with different screen capture utilities right now. Does anyone know the best video format to upload to youtube?
Hi,
I’m using almost the same set-up. Only i have some problems
I’m Using the conectiv from m-audio with the timecode vinyl in Torq 2.0
Recently i got myself a x-session pro and a Oxygen 25. Both from m-audio.
I tried to do the same ableton/torq confuguartion as shown in your video.
The problem is that the little yellow box next to the ext button doesn’t light up in ableton. Ableton does not recognize a midi input.
Torq sends out a midi signal.
I’m doing something wrong. but what?

Yep, just send MBC out on the MPD and your friend with ableton should know what to do with it on his end.
djjonnyjams 2 years ago
conectiv has no midi interface. You need a midi interface on each computer to do it your way.
