@ajustin672 I think it was obvious Gene didn't care a lot about ISU. It was nothing but a stepping stone. So Gene recruited a lot of young talent for two years and left Rhodes with a full roster of talent. There's a reason why Rhodes went 7-6 in his first year and 5-7 in his second year. That doesn't exactly look good. Yet Gene took a completely depleted roster, assembled a great staff, and took a 5-7 team to 8-5 in one season. I think you know how the rest went.

The guy is merely a placeholder on the Plains until we dump Jacobs, and actually make a run at Muschamp for the HC position. It's a well known fact that Muschamp left because of Jacobs, wanted to have the same HC provision in his contract that he recieved at Texas, and that he was going to take the HC job after Tubs until Jacobs pissed him off again.

Actually, according to the ncaa, they were 2-11, with a regular season record of 1-11. I'de say 8 wins is alot better starting season than 2 wins by saban.

The big picture is this simple, Auburn has an all-time win percentage of almost 63% which puts it 16th, you have been to what 35-37 bowl games etc etc. Your good, no doubt. Auburn has always had a good team and they always jump up from time to time but I'm simply pointing out that for as good as Auburn is it isn't great, it isn't elite.

I see the early 20's and 30's titles as legit because they were Rose Bowl wins which were the defacto NC game at the time. 09, 92, 79, 78, 65, 61 are bullet proof. There are two where Alabama was awareded the title prior to the bowl game, you can take or leave those but make no mistake of Auburns "7", only one isn't as leaky as the 41 Bama NC.

Heated rivalries like Auburn and Alabama are what make the game fun. Each team has historically been the thorn in the others side and as I said, that is what makes the game fun. Just image if the Iron Bowl was a rivalry like Bama v Miss St, no fun whatsover. Besides, for as heated as this rivalry is it sure makes me happy to see two teams from little old Alabama in the top 25 and even better two in the top 10.

It seems pretty obvious that when a coach stuck with players not recruited to fit in his system can do more with those players than the coach that recruited them he (Rhoads) is the better coach

Please, as an Auburn Alum, this video is pure shit. Chizik is a horrible HC, great DC, and good Recruiter. Nothing else. The guy is merely a placeholder on the Plains until we dump Jacobs, and actually make a run at Muschamp for the HC position. It's a well known fact that Muschamp left because of Jacobs, wanted to have the same HC provision in his contract that he recieved at Texas, and that he was going to take the HC job after Tubs until Jacobs pissed him off again.

Meanwhile Muschamp's 2005 Auburn ranked 19th, 2006 Auburn ranked 19th, 2007 Auburn ranked 6th, and 2008 Texas ranked 51st (!!). There's a reason Chizik is going into his fourth year as a head coach, and Muschamp hasn't been offered a head coaching job yet. (And his Texas "promise" doesn't count.)

The only dislike for Jacobs is found in some deep-seated, possibly homosexual loyalty to Tuberville.

I see the early 20's and 30's titles as legit because they were Rose Bowl wins which were the defacto NC game at the time. 09, 92, 79, 78, 65, 61 are bullet proof. There are two where Alabama was awareded the title prior to the bowl game, you can take or leave those but make no mistake of Auburns "7", only one isn't as leaky as the 41 Bama NC.

I will say one thing about Chiznuts...He will be able to recruit better at AU than at Iowa State...Who the hell would want to go to ISU to play football?

i would say that chizik would make auburn worse but they cant get any worse.. Nobody wants to play them because it drops their strengt of schedule.

Saban also went 7-6 in his first year and lost to ULM and Mississippi State. In Auburn's worst year in a decade we were still able to beat both of them.

ISU was last ranked during the 2005 season. They've made 5 bowl games since 2000. It's not like they're Baylor or something. You can win there.

sunburst your a complete liar iowa state did not have the best offense, i believed they finished last in the last 5 years in the big 12 and as for writing books about the spread offense i believe that is MIKE LEACH
