The music for all of the new black hole COs is lame compared to the original ones. And the characters themselves. It's like in Dual Strike Black Hole went from serious enemy with serious commanders to the scarred beauty queen failure, that asian culture fanatic who wears makeup, and the broken robot. Did they really expect these jokers to replace Flak and Adder? Even though in game the descriptions of Jugger's and Koal's strengths and super powers match Flak and Adder's almost perfectly. LAME.

there is a funny translation error between the american version of this game and the PAL one. in the Pal version, this guy's name is Zak. but the funny thing is, hachi, the battle map shop keeper still calls him Koal. it's weird. at least, i THINK it's an error.

also, i think nintendo was looking for an adder replacement, and a slight improvement. (he gets bonusses on roads). same with jugger and flak.

I always thought that was the most annoying thing about it when I was figthing against him...

@SomeRandomAspie All the COs get a firepower and defense boost of 10% when they use theirs powers. Example: Andy Hyper Repair, all units have 110/110 of firepower and defense.

As far as I remember, these boosts did not apply in the first two AW games...Though Adder did get that defense boost, even if it wasn't stated anywhere.

I haven't played AWDS in a while but I thought he got the added defense on top of the regular boosts as well?

Koal was completely pointless as a character. They should have just given his on-road advantages to Adder. Indeed, even though Hawke and Lash defected, there is no reason whatsoever that the Bolt Guard couldn't have consisted of Adder, Flak, Kindle and Von Bolt, as opposed to replacing Adder and Flak with two additional, nearly identical COs. The other nations only got one new CO each, so why did Black Hole need four? To put it bluntly, they didn't...

It's weird how in the European version, his name is actually "Zak". But in Battle Maps, Hachi refers to him as "Koal" in the exact same version. I thought it was a scrapped CO or something, until I found this.

@pandafuhrer Perhaps in a sense. However, Adder is actually somewhat more fast than is Koal, in a general sense. This is even further apparent when it is considered that, if I am not mistaken about this, Adder can use 2 COPs in a row if and when he has his SCOP fully charged, and then almost have another COP readily availible to his use thereafter. He can use his SCOP if and whenever more strategically appropriate.

Koal doesn't quite have that opportunity so availibe to him.

in the whole game ti is said that koal is a good option for a quick victory and so on; but i think he is very weak. he isnt as strong as max or kanbei on streets and his coop and scop arent very effective either ;perhaps they should have taken his standard damage on streets on a level wih max or his troops can move further on streets or something like this. its an interesting idea to have a co with which you can ignore terrain and just rush on streets to the HQ but the realisation doesnt work
