I have european cars...a modified E55 AMG and a Lotus Elise...but the Z06 is one of the great cars made in the last 20 years...brilliant engine, light weight, track handling, and a moderate price. Bravo...it's only negative to me is the fact it is not visually different from the base corvette (albeit a great package unto itself)...

Not bad point at all, but is that enough? People who have money to buy these cars would often like to have and feel more. While sitting in a corvette (done it few times and driven also, not own one though) It just feell cheap and not very well made car, comparing to, for example, Porsche and Merc, YES they are much more expensive, but still they are selling well. Quality feeling is very different in those cars. For me and many others that does make the difference.
Quality aka craftsmanship has always been lacking in American cars... However the ZR1 is a rare bird that can definately hold it's own when the green flag drops... It reminds me of an inexpensive F-16 that can kick butt at half the cost of more sophisticated planes...

A sports car is not to be made of cheap materials. Thats for discount cars from Korea (... and the US)! Read cars news? I produce cars news for film and television, trough 17 years. The Vette and Viper is plastic, and they dont trash anything. Bugatti Veron will have Vette and Viper for breakfast, so will Porsche 962 and the Porsche 997TT. You just dont get it!! A sports car is so much more then plastic boy and BHP. It al about details, top quality, perfect grip, perfect look, best materials.

Why are you comparing a multi million dollar car to a car whos most expensive model costs around $100 000? And obviously you haven't seen how well the Corvette and Viper have been doing in Le Mans series races for the past 10 years. Some producer you are.

I dont compare them. Vette and Viper do it them self. Even at their own web site. I drive and take pictures of those cars for a living, I know what they can do, or not. . And no, they have not won the main race, MAIN, for 4 decades in the Le Mans series. Only the their own series. Not even close to winning it!!

Absolutely not! My work life for 17 years is all about these cars. Im not a badge snob. But when Vette and Viper (...at their own web sites) dare so compare themselves to Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren etc. Then you have to tell them the truth. And that is: Vette and Viper is not even close to that league. They ask for it, not me. Its a poor mans sports car. And sports cars are not for poor people. The Vette and Viper has not not won anything in decades on the track. Even the bloody French cars are faster, with diesel engines! The Vette, with 600 BHP, only barely beat a small Porsche Cayman with 295 BHP on the Nürnburg Ring. Thats really bad engineering from Vette. And shows exactly what they are made of: Plastic dash boards, plastic cover and seats. Lots of BHP but no driving skills on the track. Just good old fashion, boring US straight ahead on the highway. No skills required for that.

If you are to be seen in a Vette or Viper in Europe, people look at you and say "...hmm, fair enough, if he could not afford a Porsche or Ferrari". Dont get me wrong, its sexy and all that - its just not "Top Dollar". Its not 112% perfect! And if you want to be in that league, you just cant get away with plastic body, cheap dash boards, driving skills as a Korean family car and having "Average Joe" as your costumer. Sports cars are not for everybody. Because everybody cant afford top quality.

In Europe we have rule : take slowest (on the right) lane possible, change only for overtaking. In USA even if You have 6 lanes in one way, al of them could be busy bu trucks.

actully, i think you'll find the production lap record of the 'ring is a Maserati mc12. 7.24. The viper acr done a 7.22 but i dont cound it coz they altered the suspention aeros and the seat. corvette c6 zr1 did a 7.26 which is still bloody fast!

It's ignorant to compare a 92 vette to an F1. Nothing from the year 92 compares to an F1, not to mention, 88-94 corvettes werent made with half the quality they are now. Im close friends with a Chevy dealer and he says he would stay away from those years, but now is a different story. They handle like a dream, are amazingly fast, and cheap. I think youre just jealous because an American car will outdo your little panzy ferarri for more than half the price. These arent luxurys, theyre sports cars
