I just got a brand new, factory refurbished PS3 60GB to replace my original from 2006 which was having a "spiking" problem and this "blinking" problem in Little Big Planet 2 (new game). It is doing the "blinking" too, but not the "spiking".

This only happens when you are trying to do something when the PS3 isnt ready yet. Perhaps you were trying to access a game or load files when the PS3 is trying to finish or close a running program in the background.

Another potential issues that I experience was internet. Try disconnecting your modem or LAN cable and wait a while then the PS3 should turn off itself or be normal again. If it still freezes then pull the plug. Restart the system without internet connection.

I think I may know why it does that, I used to have my HDMI goin through my reciever, then to my reciever to my HDTV, I'd always have to wait 3-4 minutes for the signal to get to my tv, Id hear the sound right away, but I just recently bought a NYKO PureHD HDMI gaming cable and just st8 up hooked it right to my tv, comes right on, But, the problem i have is it always wants to go into the 480i and not what my tv can handle, I think it's the choice of HDMI and the hertz/speed that's affecting it..
