Why doesn't Patch Adams get the Nobel Peace Prize? Obama has done nothing of this scale and magnitude. Patch effects REAL, POSITIVE change in the world by getting out there and doing what he feels is right, putting himself smack dab in the middle of things to help out. What does Obama do? I like this guy. He is right! Mental hospitals or medications for mental health issues are just downright ineffective. Humor, love, and harmony are the best ways to find true joy in life, nothing else.

Patch Adams is an inspiration to me. He really knows what humanity is about.

Too often, doctors, politicians, and civil servants make life very difficult for us.

Dt Adams is a man that really cares, and I applaud him.

I work in health care for the elderly and often use humour as a distraction when a patient is experiencing pain.My point is this most health care workers know that humour is an effective method of relaxing and distracting painfull episodes, but can't or won't use laughter as their introvert personalities prevent them from acting in a humourous mannor. Laughter is the best complementary treatment in recovery from illness and management of pain.

I interviewed Patch Adams a couple of years ago for my radio programme. I found him anything but a "scientist of joy". He was an angry old man raving at the establishment, nothing like the character portrayed by Robin Williams. I was very dissapointed. If giving joy is something you turn on for underpriviledged children and turn off for everyone else then, I'm afraid, it's not the sort of joy I'm after. I did not find him to have any keys to unlock gates of true happiness. Sorry, not impressed!

His "love the enemy" was so phony what he did on stage w/ his Dick Cheney stand-in, as seen in another yahoo ad.
