I was just 7 when this show first aired on 9 on Monday nights prime time. The TV was placed in the bedroom as someone was ill in bed (but bright enough not to want to miss out on the first episode. Winter in Adelaide and the family of eight huddled in anticipation. Inspiring moments in childhood later translated to working in Florida for a time and being invited to watch a shuttle launch on the pad standing on hallowed ground 10000 ft from the shuttle, night launch...dream come true

The last rerun on Australian tv was in 1999 and finally included showing ''No Place To Hide.'',

the unaired pilot episode that didnt have Dr Smith or the Robot included. It was formally titled

Space Family Robinsion and went for an hour and was also in black and white and made in 1964.

which I later came to appreciate much more as an adult in many other ways

than when I did when younger! As Smith would say, ''Oh the insensitive of
