  • @interhighh

2 good things to have in a fight.....A Navy SEAL and a Malinois. ;)

  • @ssdsurf Gorgeous dog! I've wanted a German Shepherd for a long time but my Dad recently told me of this breed. I think I like this breed better, yours in particular has beautiful color. I have never owned any kind of dog before, are their classes or books you recommend? Also, I would want it as a puppy, what is the cost would you say of a pure bred Belgian Malinois from a reputable breeder? Thanks!

  • @qTheOnep These dogs need a lot of attention and need to continuously be challenged. They can also be very aggressive in the family pecking order and may not be the best choice for a new owner. However if you become the alpha dog they are very very loyal and hard working. They come in a few colors. Research online for info there is a lot. A pure bred puppy can be in the $2K range. A high quality semi trained 1.5 - 2 year old can be around $6K.

  • How did u train him??

  • @HBkokujo

Standard training methods using the tennis ball as a reward.

  • he´s sooo cute ;P

du hast einen sehr hübschen und wohlerzogenen hund! gratuliere, weiter so!

  • @medaphoar1337

Thanks and I agree! I very much like this coloration of Belgian's and he is indeed a very good looking dog! His obedience is amazing and he learns quickly!

  • Hey guys thanks for the interest in my Malinois. He is a phenomenal dog and I am around working mals all the time. The commands that I use are a combination of German and Dutch. Some commands are the same or very similar for both languages but perhaps spelled and pronounced a bit different. An example might be German - Bleiben, or Dutch - Blijf or Blijven. I speak German, so my dialect or pronunciation for Dutch may sound more like German. :)

  • @ssdsurf OK, that clears things up...German is just a Dutch dialect...( no, just kidding ). Great dog btw.

  • @ssdsurf nice looking dog, i have a mal thats 1 and a half years old, she does not really listen to me when shes wound up and seems like all that matters to her is that she has her ball. do you recommend a book or website that you think would help me get control of her or is it to late? my girlfriend already wants me to give her up for adoption but im too attached.

  • I know because I handle a narcotics belgian malanois for a law enforcement agency that uses the same commands

  • "off leggen", nice it's got style

  • @weo1weo1weo1

its Dutch spelled :"Af Lagen", personaly i just say "Af." Then you have Seet for sit, Blifen or Blif for stay, Plaats for heel/sit, aporte for retrieve, Lose (Loe-s) for drop, sook or such (sue-ch) for search, Gib Laut (Gib Lowt) for speak.. etc..

  • @EdgecrW4 That's not Dutch,it's sounds like German. I know because I'm Dutch...

  • really nice dog. looks like he is enjoying training. how are they like with children?

  • @marko3296

No two dogs are alike, however in general Belgian's are not the best family dogs as they are high driven and need a lot of activity. They also like to be right under the Alpha Dog (you) in the pecking order and often look at kids as subordinates or lower on the scale which can be bad. With a Malinois you need to make this very clear from the start. Even then some high drive dogs won't take anything less then being second in command.

  • @ssdsurf Not True! I have had 3 Mals and all 3 were/are great family dogs. And in case your response is going to be they must not have been high drive dogs, one of them was my K9 partner on the street for 3.5 years for a major midwestern city. He still holds the record for most felony apprehensions in a 1 year period. He was retired early when I retired. Another one has the same drive even though he is a "family" pet.

  • @nchucales The difference is that you are an experienced handler. We cannot blanket statement the entire breed, but in general a Malinois usually takes a strong alpha dog owner who should be highly experienced with dog ownership and who has the ability to train and properly exercise the dogs mind and body to keep them happy. This is not the case with a good majority of family pet owners. You of all people being experienced should understand this concept.

  • The best Belgian Malinois I have seen. WOW.

  • @aknames

Thanks! His training and his abilities have grown immensely since this original video. I have had many dogs all my life including working dogs, but he is definitely the best dog I have ever owned! A true member of the family!

  • Nice
