@ratonnewmex: I love and play Arabic music (though Farid Al Atrache is not my favorite), but if you think all American music is "khara" and we are simply "blad al-sharmoota" (do you mean our women are "loose" or that we are excessively capitalistic?), why don't you just search, "John Coltrane" on YouTube to hear some of our REAL music? My other response: Sadly, traditional music is in serious decline in the Arab world, unlike in Turkey, where the government and listening public support it.
