@bboikiller you can't download the backup system. If you need to re-load windows on your netbook, you can purchase the install DVD's through Compaq's support site. Just google "Compaq Support", and its the first link. The Install DVD's cost around 15 dollars and you need a USB DVD drive to install it. Be careful, because it WILL write over all your data and you will loose all your documents and all the programs and games you installed. Backup your data FIRST before you restore.

@nitroerdely2 I haven't found my exact laptop available without Windows. But you can install any operating system on it you want after you buy it. I have ran Linux Ubuntu 10.04 on this with no issues. Everything works in Ubuntu, including sound, networking, wireless, and graphics. You can dual-boot Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux using a free program called Wubi installer. It installs Linux under Windows, and lets you try out linux. You can then uninstall Linux it later if you desire.

I have this netbook, and I upgraded the Hard Drive to 500GB, and I have Windows 7 Starter on it. In the future, I'm going to add a bluetooth on it, and 2GB of RAM.

@jubmasterflex Yes, the memory is upgradeable to 2GB. It comes with 1GB pre-installed. You have to replace that stick with a new 2GB stick of the same exact type and speed. Windows will detect and use all of the 2GB of system memory after the upgrade. It will run smoother and have less slow-downs with many programs open.

@Cpituner1993 Just activate windows then. Right-click on My Computer, click properties, then click Activate Windows now. When I upgraded to 2GB RAM, it didn't have me activate windows, it just installed the new ram and started using it. But I needed to change my virtual memory settings to "system managed" to make full, optimal use of 2GB.

I have this kind of netbook. Mine is Compaq Mini 110c-1111EV. I don't know if this is a problem or whatever. you said in your description box that 2GB chip is for Heavy PC user. Can you explain to me further about that? Because my netbook is a 2GB and my problem I think is my Window Experience Index. My Graphics thingy is in 2.1 and it says to be the lowest subscore. What should I do?

@smacalma 2GB of memory is good for people who like to run many programs at once, like email, web browsing, iTunes, Media Player, FaceBook, Twitter, etc. Just like in any computer, the more RAM (memory) you have installed, the better and smoother the computer will run. With 2GB of memory, you will have less freezing and stutters when running lots of programs at once. Also, most netbooks have weak graphics cards in them that don't support the latest games. This gives them low scores. Its Normal.

@weirdomiggy no, you don't need to buy a cooler fan for any laptop. As long as you use it on a hard flat surface there is enough airflow with the built-in fan that is inside the computer. This netbook doesn't get very hot. It uses the Intel Atom processor which runs cool.

Im looking to buy this netbook but im finding it hard deciding between the 6 cell battery and the 3 cell one. I dont really like the 6 cell version because the battery sticks so far out, but im worried if i get the 3 cell battery it aint going to last long and the 6 cell is same price as 3 cell :s

How are you find the 3 cell battery? Would you want the 6 cell bettery instead?

@JonFifa09 Hi. My 3-cell battery only lasts for about 1.5 hours of use. I have heard the 6-cell battery lasts from 3 to 4 hours. If I were you, I'd go with the 6-cell battery if you want longer run time. It's not much of a problem having the 6-cell battery stick out. It makes a nice angle on your desk for easier typing on the keyboard. But it makes it harder to fit in a small laptop bag.

@TheCannonbore I purchased the restore cd's from HP for about $15. You can re-install Windows XP using the restore disk and a USB cd/dvd-rom drive. When you power up the laptop, hit the F10 key to go in the BIOS setup and switch the boot order to boot first to USB external CD drive, THEN to internal hard drive. That will let you boot from your restore disk and reload windows. Also, the laptop includes backup software, but isn't as good as HP restore cd.

I get about 2 hours of battery life with the 3-cell. If you dim the display, turn off wireless and don't play videos or games and run it on "Max Battery Mode", you will get more. There is a 6-cell battery available with double the run time.

1st What messenger should i install i tried the 8.5 and sometimes it just slow my computer, and then try the 7.5 and sometimes for no reason just kick me. 2nd how long do you have to wait for youtube videos load (9:00 minutes videos)?

I recommend you install Windows Live Essentials on your netbook. It includes Windows Live Messenger which is a good chat messenger program. I also like Skype, and Google Talk chat programs.

For me, youtube videos load right away. Maybe your computer is slow because its downloading windows updates? It takes a while to get all the windows updates installed, then it will run faster.
