does a mixer from a PA system work the same as this mixer or are they different?
for example, like this mixer below? I saw this at a local audio shop, would this work or live broadcasting such as play by play for games/also podcasting?
@version2media That would work just fine. You can use any audio mixer for podcasting, really. I looked at that mixer and it looks just like a Mackie 1202 VLZ-PRO. If that's what you have, then definitely use it. Have fun!
Hello appreciated the video But is there way I could see a pic of the iPhone hooked up to broad. Cuase I been tryingamd it not working for me. I have a Behringer 1202. I can't get any sound into iPod touch. I want to use it for skype calls. I got it work with computer thank you
@Gamersroundtable FROM device side: White is left audio OUT, Yellow is right audio OUT, and red is audio IN to device (iPod touch, iPhone or iPad) Connect that accordingly. Red should connect to an output from your board. It will send a signal that you should test for levels on your phone. I used the Voice Memos app to test my volume settings.
@Rayphunk I use my iPhone with an AV cable. The white & yellow are left and right sound out, and the red is to send sound back to the phone. Another easy and free solution is Google Voice. You can get a phone number free, and make and receive calls right from Gmail. Just connect your mic to your computer. I hope that helps.
@LENNIE1DREAD You are right! I just noticed that although my sound quality is good, the sound volume is low! Lol I'll blame this on USTREAM. I used it to record this video and I was never able to edit it because it's in flash video format. Thanks for the comment, but I guess you'll need some really loud speakers. Cheers, Brian
@alanbrit Thanks for the comment. What can I say I'm obsessed with gear. If I had more cash I'd go nuts and get even more gear. But if you think this is overkill, you should check out Leo Laporte (TWiT) or Mark Jensen's (NewMediaGear) studio setups.
@bigmoviefanshow : Hahaha, Yea, Leo is insane also. By the way, Have you listened to the show/podcast called "Free Talk Live" ? I always found it impressive for them to be able to fit 2 HOURS of high quality audio into a ~45 MB file while most podcasts I listen to go over 70-85+ MB for that kind of timeframe. I tried to reproduce the same quality + size by reading their ID3 tags for encoding format/bitrate/ etc but failed to do so. Any tips on this?
@alanbrit My first guess is that it's encoded single channel Mono instead of Stereo. That will truly cut down file size. And for voice podcasts, Mono is fine. I still make mine stereo 16 bit 44.1 kHz 128 kb/s AAC files. Now with Mono the bit rate can be lower 64 kb/s should still sound great. Do you put out any shows? And what are some of your favorites?

@KDWproductions My mixer is on top of the carpeted rack box. It's behind the red MBOX package. I am using the Mackie 1402 VLZ-PRO.
