A Scottish Mojito. What an absolute delight, Ralfy, and tucked away at the end there. That's the greatest thing I've seen this year. Keep up the good work!
once again another an easy to watch whisky review! I´ve never heardl about this exotic blend at all... no chance for me to purchase it to ecotic in my region.... Talking about blends... what do think think about Great King Street?! Any chance to see an review in the future? ;)
Ralfy! How about a tour of the Bothy? I've never seen the inside of a traditional bothy myself, being from the US of A. All that us loyal viewers get to see is the one corner (albeit with the neat nic-nacks).
@LimeLou Blends are a combination of malt, and grain spirit. They are essentially designed to be budget whiskies, though there are some more expensive and quite competent blends. As a general rule, inexpensive blends are of lower quality than single malts, and should be judged as such.
Ah, rose and cinnamon, that's what it is. I used to love Iron Brew but went off it when I started tasting rust. Is it any wonder there's a high rate of gingers in Scotland? Any way, tried a bit of rosewater in the light malt I was struggling with and it really helps thing down. I'm wondering wether i ought to add cinnamon to the bottle. Mmmm, looking likely.
It's a muddling stick to crush the leaves or fruit, cut a stick from fruitwood of about 3/8" DIA and 8" or so long. Remove bark.
As a newcomer to the malt movement I want to put on the record my appreciation for your reviews, Ralfy. Wholly accessible and not a hint of snobbery. Big pat on the back.
This began for me because I married into a wonderful Ayrshire (Mauchline, to be precise) family who presented me with a bottle of Tomintoul with a peaty tang, which is still a favourite dram (ahem REVIEW PLEASE!! ahem) and a Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. A life of learning awaits!
Nice work Ralfy,good 2 c u mixing it up...you kinda missed the summer though, never the less entertaining as ever.Im pretty sure Irn Bru has phenylalanine(stimulant also found in Aspartame which is in Diet Coke etc) in it so only as a treat unless u want 2 b hyperactive and increase ur chances of cancer later in life.But yeh ur so right a cold glass of Irn Bru and ice on a summers day is a unique thing.tc sir and good health.
I'm on the brink of seriously considering about oozing into the beginning stages of entertaining the idea of wearing a bonnet (flat cap?). I'm almost to that that point.
Glasgow kisses and Glasgow smiles ... people in Glasgow are pretty hardcore!

Hi Ralfy:
With equal time of maturation in casks. Why Bourbon is darker in color than Scotch and Single Malt?
ReverendBlackstone 4 months ago
@ReverendBlackstone
dark colour is absorbed into the spirit from the volume of carbon and charred wood of the American casks.
