  • It's ruined with the scope it's too bad

  • Wild boar CQB, FTW!!!

  • just a thought when u have the gun loaded and the hammer cocked and the shot does not present itself u can then put it on safe and lower the hammer them remove the safty this will prevent unintentional discharge should you allow the hammer to slip from your grasp it would not be the first time a hammer has slipped would like to no if this would be a good idea thnx i gave it a like

  • love this rifle got one of my own.

  • Wait, aren't you the guy who shot himself in the leg with the .45?

  • Hey, I just Retired from the Marine after 23 year with Force Recon,Thanks for that wonderful demo Just got a Marlin 336 Cal 35 Rem .

  • I am looking to purchase my first rifle and am very interested in this particular model and caliber. Is the safety issue a problem that would make you advise getting a similar rifle from a different company or will I learn to live with this design shortcoming?

    thanks Tex!

  • @keithsnow well this was my first rifle. only issue is ammo isnt too afordable anymore for 30/30 however a marlin 336 in 30/30 is a damn good rifle.

  • @derekgrebner87 30/30 is cheaper than most 33.99 vs 29.99

  • @keithsnow maybe you can look at a savage .308 bolt action, the ammo is 8-10 dollars a box and theyre the perfect round

  • @keithsnow I have this rifle, it is amazing and I recommend it.

  • I bought that gun for my 14th birthday and I love it

  • Excellent review. I love your videos.

    Thanks for posting.

which 336 is that? do you know the difference between the 336c and the 336a?

  • 1 inch groups my ass

  • i have shit all over myself..........sorry tex.

  • so you are saying if i but this marlin 336 and the cabelas lever action 30-30 leverevolution scope for 100 bucks its a good setup for hunting?

  • the 336 is my favorite rifle I own... you said it perfectly...rugged, smooth, and boy is it fun to shoot

  • I just bought one and love it. BTW, this was entertaining but not near as entertaining as when you shot up your leg. The marlin 336 will make that more difficult w/ its length although the redundant safeties may be beneficial to you.

  • my dad has this gun and its great one day it will be mine

    great vid

  • So what you're saying is the Marlin is hard to get a negligent discharge with?

  • i have the same model but mine is the 30a.s model. hornady 150 gr round nose works reall well in this gun.

  • A scope usually destroys the fine handling characteristics of a lever carbine. Check out the peep sights from Marbles outdoors for the lever rifles and carbines.

  • Iron sight only rifle.

  • This rifle, doesn't need that type of scope you've got on it !

  • can you shoot another video with a close up of the iron sights?

  • @AusJackal I am currently using a Skinner Tactical sight set!

  • @derekgrebner87 thanks mate... I would love to see a close up of how it looks on the rifle. Loved the video.. I just had a quick look at your video shooting at the pizza box.... =D I like the idea of a good set of iron sights as when you get up close and personal with a feral pig your scope becomes all but useless!

  • @derekgrebner87 Hey Tex... I found your other video fitting the rear tac sight... nice..

  • Thanks, you've convinced me. I'll be picking up one of this beauties very soon.

  • Marlin 336 30-30 is a great Boar basher ,drops 100kg plus boars no problem.I love mine :D

  • this rifle was my first gun at twelve years old, I am now 40 and it is my favorite to this day. I could have not given it a better review, great Job!

  • I got one of these. Is this more powerful than a Magnum revolver?

  • That makes me miss my 336.

  • would this be good for pig hunting?

  • @williamiscool123 absolutely. Iv'e never been pig hunting myself but my dad has taken some pretty big pigs with this gun.

  • I made my own big loop lever with an acetylene torch and the end result was more of a teardrop lever... however its now very functional with gloved hands.. Best 3 bang for your buck mods on any 336 marlin are the following... Ashley {XS} Ghost ring w/ matching partridge front sight... Wild West Guns 3lb drop in Trigger...super clean glass rod break and my offhand groups shrunk by half...Allen 9rd buttstock cartridge carrier.

IMO a big honkin 3x9 scope dulls the leverguns best attributes.

  • Bought my 336 in .35 Rem from Woolco of all places. They were clearing out all firearms and got this beauty for $94! Long time ago but man what a great deer or Eastern bear rifle. Got to use a scope these days because of the eyes but this rifle is a work of art with iron sights that I used at 100+ yards no problem.

  • great gun. I have a 336 as well. inexpensive and accurate. If you like lever guns definitely take a look at marlin stuff, especially the 336 or the 1895 models depending on what calibre you prefer.

  • iron sights all the way

  • I just bought a used 336w with 40 rounds of hornady revolution for $250. The first thing I will do is take the tasco off and put on a bushnell 4.5.

  • @mvegas893 the xs rail and cabelas pine ridge scope are practical made for each other.

  • Comment removed

  • these scopes can also use other types of ammo. You can take this scope to 500 yds with great frequency, with some practice 600 is possible but that is very tough. Put the fps in the and bc in the calculator figure some math and boom.... I spent last summer playing with that scope very cool.

  • WILD BOAR CQB FTW!

  • Thanks man you've convinced me to finally invest in a .30-30

  • yeah man love my marlin 336 30-30

  • awsome vid i have a marlin 30 aw .....30-30 been havin problems sighting in .....i would like to zero at 50yds....any pointers??????

  • Dude, all your reviews are awesome

  • you say it is accurate till the barrel gets hot....how many rounds till that happens and how much is the barrel impacted? thanks for taking time to make the great video, much appriciated.

  • GREAT VID

  • you should reload your own ammo

the leveolution ammo is not too expensive

  • I'm only 14 and people often don't think I know what I'm talking about. But I'm a serious hunter and gunman. I have one of these and I love it for many reasons. One if the best things is the fact that it has a short barrel and fits me well.

  • @xxvengeance77 im 15 and they thank i dont know shit about guns or hunting and the funney theng is i probley know more than most of them do lol.

  • o thats why me damn hammer sticks, i thought it was a problem with my gun, lol

  • ive got two of them there a realey good gun.i loved my 1st one so much i got one more lol.

  • Thank you very much for making this video and for your recommendations.

  • I got a 336 gold trigger 32 special

  • I got the same rifle. 336W, the lever isn't as big. I shoot mine with Remington CoreLokt 150GR.

  • this was my first gun.

  • Hey Tex nice video exellent gun i'll be getting a 336 30-30 soon probably. About how much can I expect to pay for such a fine lever action rifle? Thanks!

  • @Thelonesniper101 I saw one today at Fleet Farm for $400. Bought mine from my my uncle for $250. Very easy to use and maintain and is very reliable.. Light recoil, heavy enough to take down most big game such as bear, elk, or deer. Not really accurate past 200 yards though.

  • This or a winchester 94?

  • @Thelonesniper101 i myself have a madel 94 my grandpap has a marlin like this ill have to ask him if i can shoot it sometime the model 94 is a good gun btw

  • I just bought A marlin .44 magnum, great info did the loop lever come with the marlin ?

  • @jamesandhoa just saw the video 1 more time , my bad.

  • ordered the cabela's pine ridge lever action scope 5 minutes ago. Cant wait to try it out. The scope that came with my marlin is ok for a package gun/scope combo but just want to upgrade to a 3-9x. Not planning on hunting with the 9x so people dont waste your time telling me.

  • Sweet setup, keep it up!

  • Man, this is one of the guns on my 'list.' A work buddy was talking about the .30-30, saying it was on his next buy list. Funny thing, I was daydreaming of it the other night, thinking of its pros & cons vs. a Remington 870 I want. I even like the .30-30 cartridge with its round tip. It just looks smoooooth :) Marlin is great

  • I didn't hear you mention "beautiful" .... I like those black rifles alright, but when my eyes get tired of staring at plastic parts, a lever gun brings you back to the truth. This video answered my questions on your setup I posted in your other videos, thank you for reviewing this baby! Your thoughts on the 336BL? (18.5" bbl, bigger loop, prong sights) I would consider picking up a 336 or 1894p (given I could find one) tomorrow, great guns...always will be.

  • @NoiseMostBeautiful well id say you can get the same rifle i have here minus the scope in the 336BL. Marlin Finally started working with WWG and Xs sights, I need to talk to biggers about geting a trij front post made for lever guns.

  • im thinking about this for a brush gun for whitetail mabe mule deer would a 30 30 be good?

  • @9pol1 if you can get close enough,

  • what about see thru sights tex

  • why did you scope a brush gun ? that rifle isint ment to be a tack driver its ment for short range shots like 100/200 yards a scope just makes it way more heavy...

  • @BekkerOnGunsNHunting it actually balances very nicely.

  • I don't like mine. The only reason I still have it is because I shot my first and my biggest deer with it. I can shoot better groups at 50 yards with my bow than I can shoot with the 336

  • No bayonet lug? Would you recommend that firearm for HD?

  • great gun i got my first deer with a stainless steel marilin 30-30 right between the eyes at 150 yards. i dont even think you need to modify one of these gun beyond adding a scope

  • Money love!

  • That is a sweet rifle! much $....

  • i love my 336. It is my go to rifle and I can hit targets at 210 yards with irons

  • the biggest problem with the marlin is that it is just so damn good, there isn't much of a reason for anything else. i like your mod of the oversized lever, the stock one in my opinion is rather undersized.

  • Great video Tex on a great rifle. Love my 336C

  • LOL! "Wild Boar CQB!" Great rifle Tex!

  • @derekgrebner87 I do agree about the action on your Marlin being alot smoother on the action than my 30/30 it also has a bigger cocking loop on it, although mine works pretty good for hunting. great review Text.

  • yo my tednuggent bro, nice to see this vid, i shoot a marlin 30 30 with iron sites for whitedale here in pa the woods are thick scopes are kinda useless ( atleast on my property) i love my 30 30

  • money love

  • Is your mom's basement really that loud?

  • I have had that safety issue happen while hunting deer. it f'ing sucks.

I was using a winchester model 94 and then swapped with my dad and I was not used to it and damn deer won.

  • I used to have a 444 Marlin.

    Great rifles.

  • I've got a Glenfield Model 30A in tiger stripe and a 336 pre cross-bolt safety. on both of them.

    same gun effectively.

  • MO MONEY!!

  • Thumbs Up and some Money Love!!

  • Good to see the Marlin back! I don't own a 336, but I do have two Marlins, an 1894 in .44 and an 1895 in .45-70, love them both.

  • That was the first deer rifle I got for my son... Great gun and with lever evolution ammo you can get .75@ 100yrds. its well worth the money

  • If you mean copy rifles no. Mine are the same rifle as in this video but I only had ejection problems when I work the action slowly other than that they are flawless but you can't always whip that lever around like a cowboy. Not if you're trying to stay hidden :)

  • i like them. i dont own one but there a part of our american history

  • i love lever action but i prefer bolt action even though not as fast

  • Great rifle, more light please! SOOOO much better when your A/C kicked off!

  • @FrontCortex yeah well what can you do. eventually i can do another video.

  • I have a 30 30 Bolt! It is in one of my vids. Great round!

  • killed my first deer with this very gun must agree one of my favorite rifles ever

  • We had one of those a couple years ago and blew a target stand leg in half with it at the range. It's pretty accurate ;)

  • I own two of these rifles and a winchester. I like these because you can mount optics but the winchesters have far less ejection problems.

  • @JobForAGunXx never had an ejection problem myself. But they do make after market ones.

  • what is that noise.

  • I have the xlr 308 action express stainless 24in barrel. my have hunting rifle definitely beefy! nikon 3x9x40 prostakk scope.
