i think first of all that man kind should not breed with the horses untill there is someone who want newborn from a horse so that there are not so many horses that can go to the slaughter .

The economy tanked and people lost everything, they had to get rid of their horses because they couldn't afford to feed them. No slaughter houses here so they had to endure the shipping to canada or mexico. Either that or they were adandoned and left to starve. @olienca Well guess what, the ban on slaughter has caused way more harm than good. The economy tanked and people lost everything, they had to get rid of their horses because they couldn't afford to feed them. No slaughter houses here so they had to endure the shipping to canada or mexico. Either that or they were adandoned and left to starve. It sucks but that's life, it's cruel and it's harsh, ya gotta make the best of things. A quick death is better than abandonment and starvation.

There isn't enough hay to go around for all the wanted horses in the southwest because of drought conditions . . . Its sad that horses are unwanted and slaughtered but as long as every inch of the horse is used I don't see it dying in vain. Just like the buffalo before we settled this country.

If people want slaughter to stop they need to speak to the department of Agriculture and get them to regulate breeding!! People have no problem with breeders that pump out 10-20 horses a year at just one farm among hundreds in the US. THAT my friends is what causes over population!
