Wait, it's NEWS that an RFID can be read? There's a reason I don't use RFID technology. It's about as unsecure as you can get, because you can't encrypt the data and still have it useful, and there is no "off" function for the transmit.
Guys you dont have to carry the laptop in your hand you can put both in a brief case or laptop case and easily stop by some one and boom the info is transfered to the laptop
@xthexMaXx I can see that scenario yes, but I can see many of the same. What I was generally saying is there is more of a chance of people pick pocketing you than these guys which they also stated there has been no reports of this happening. This guy just made trouble by giving people ideas. I have had my debit card emptied twice in 6 months and I am still ok with this, because unlike cash, the banks instantly filled up my account back. That's not the case with cash. These guys shouldn't s
@iconicbrand5 These guys swipe yes, but the credit card companies and banks are relentless at tracking you and they usually do. My thieves were located in England and Canada and I was told they were caught. Whether I know that as fact is a mystery to me, but I know within 6 hours, I got my monies back and the banks even cleared the overdrafts that were created. You can't do that with cash..cash is gone and so are paper checks. I am extremely unconcerned with these guys.
There are tons of more people that can pick your pocket than this guy and besides, wouldn't you have to think something's fishy if they are waving a laptop or anything around your happy parts?
Having recently seen various television adverts for 'contactless' banking, and as someone that's just received one of these new style RFID payment cards, my jaw nearly hit the floor when I came across a website dedicated to "e-pickpocketing".
Type "e-pickpocket" into any search engine and I'm sure you'll be taken there.
I have good news though. When I first got a debit card from my mom's bank. I looked on the back and it had the RFID symbol on it, so I called the bank to see if they would deactivate it. They told me that it's never activated until you request it to be activated, so that's one good way to keep the hackers from doing this is to never activate the RFID chip in your card. I mean, I would rather take the chance that my card is compromised by sliding it to make a payment rather then thin air.
@Galayman2 another problem too is if your card gets stolen. i never carry cash for that reason and only use my bank card. i removed my chip from my card because the chip can be used at certain stores by just waving your wallet past a scanner. (no swiping required) long story short. if you still have the chip in your card and it gets stolen, the theif can use your card like it where cash.
I like how almost NO ONE knows that they can do this until the News blast ALL over the world of new ways to rip people off so now a whole bunch of people are going to try this.... lol The News isnt very smart. Why dont you NOT give theifs more ideas of how to rip me off. THANKS!
@guitarbridgecleaner hey bonehead, I buy stuff online and over the phone all the freakin' time and rarely am I required to provide my credit card pin or security code printed on the back. So, what you're saying is a joke. Hope your ID gets theived ya ignoramous.
@cosmicgate07 They call it RFID reader, you could buy one at Ebay. Actually the card is dead, but a device that signals transmitter/RFID reader to the card's antenna. It signals back with information inside the card. So this is why RFID is quite vulnerable, obviously its bad for consumers. Now, with psychopath government agency, scientists and experts saying, its good. I guess for certain field, like using it to buy items online. But carrying it, people might have to wake up from false reality!
@cosmicgate07 You could be standing in a crowded place where it would be impossible to not get close to someone? A train? A bus? A crowded store? Point blank, RFID cards are just asking for trouble.
Wow, im buying one!

@iconicbrand5 well look at this scenario.
2 average looking males are walking in a grocery store.
One has a laptop, the other has a bag looking item
the one with the bag moves it by a womens purse, and they have the info/.
