also this person hasnt figured out im a woman... it would be some splainin for the 3 kids ive had and umm the breastfeeding if i were a man!! and i feel more for my kids when they are hurt than any man (save for daddy n great grandaddy) could feel for the kids!! im not comfortable with haveing my kids put fully under which is why i like that they just gas th ekids n numb the area to fix their tounge1! the gas just makes them drowsy and relaxed so they dont remember the procedure!!
Going under anesthesia is a risk for everyone regardless of age. Gas Anesthesia agents such as Nitrous Oxide , Cyclopropane , sevoflurane , desflurane , isoflurane and halothane pose the highest risk for post surgical complications. The most common is caused because some of the gas gets stored in the fat cells particularly in heavier children. The child awakes from the sleep and they look at him/her and say everythings ok.
actually this hospital watches them and makes sure they dont slip again yes he was very sleepy but thats to be expected! they put my husband under and after i tols them not to wake him too quickly and if he has an episode to call me (he has ptsd anestesia is a trigger to it) but they went ahead and woke him quickly and wondered why he freaked out 3 times on them!! the childrens hospital treated my son better for a simpler operation! and my husband is diabetic as well! u gotta watch em all!
Then while the staff's backs are tured , the gas that was lingering in the fat cells gets released back into the blood and they start slipping off again. and now they're laying there heliless choking on their saliva. Not to mention that most inhailed anesthesia agents are triggers for post surgical nausea and vomiting. In my opinion you want to have them try and make your childs first surgical experience as pleasant as possible to eliminate future medical apprehensiveness in their lives.
you need to tell the dr about that NOW you could die of complications if you dont get that treated first!! never ever go without consulting evne on a sniffle before a surgery!!
i had my appendix out and was knocked out through anaesthesia. It made me feel very sickly and i was told to press my control for morphine which made me feel worse =( it is worth having though rather than to suffer but try and find out any possible allergies, such as from elder relatives and tell the surgeon in charge so he can deal with it.
I remember when I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out. It was February 9th, 1995. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but they had me drink this purple liquid, and within like 5 minutes, I couldn't lift my eyelids. I was out. When the anesthetic wore off, I was in so much pain, and my stepdad didn't help. He kept threatening to stick a rusty old IV in me if I didn't drink more water. It just hurt so much. Anyone else get tonsils and adenoids removed at the same time?
i have had surgeries before, and because i have asthma, they have always sedated me first to make sure i was breathing good, and then they put the mask over my mouth so i was asleep for that anyhow, and then it was over and i wake up, and they give me another mask with tube to help me breath to get my lung to clear up, so i am fine with anesthesia when its this way done, then i take meds special ones to up throat and then i heal up well
Usually conscious sedation or nothing at all. General anesthesia is done for certain situations. Like when the patient is in too much pain to be still for it or when they are very claustrophobic and refuse to do it any other way.
This patient did not have a "reaction to anesthesia." Sounds like she had a preexisting infection. Maybe being on the vent made things worse, maybe it didn't. No way to know. That said, people with sniffles undergo anesthesia daily and do just. This particular story tells you absolutely nothing about the safety of anesthesia.
i went for a tubial 1 1/2 YR AFTER CHILD BIRTH simple DAY SURGERY, YEH RIGHT! 45 MINS. LATER I WAKE UP COUGHING UP BLOOD AND BARELY ABLE TO BREATHE. THE CAUSE WAS FLIUD IN THE LUNGS DUE TO THE ANESTHSIA, YEP! ANESTHSICS DID IT!IN THE HOSPITAL WITH MEDS THAT WAS VERY SCARY I TELL YOU. I WAS PUT ON OXYGEN BECAUSE MY LEVEL WAS BELOW 50% WHICH BELOW 88% WAS NOT GOOD, SO THATS ALL BULL ABOUT ANESTIC REACTIONS
I guess you can call all bad things that can possibly happen during surgery "reactions to anesthesia." But usually "reaction" means a drug allergy. The featured story I promise you was not a drug reaction. It was pneumonia. The actual drugs used are very safe. Unfortunately anesthesia is like the airline industry: when something bad happens you always hear about it. People get the impression that's it's very unsafe when that's not true.
Many people don't know what they are allergic to. Anyone allergic to sulfa drugs shouldn't have an anesthetic with any form of sulfa, sulfide or sulfur or that person will have an allergic reaction which could result in high fever, erratic heartbeat, and/or involuntary tightening of bronchial chords among possible complications. If caught early, these effects can be reversed with immediate action. Know your allergies.
@ gigs07: actually that sounds like acute CHF or negative pressure pulmonary edema., which would have nothing to do with the anesthetics you inhaled. Those aren't side effects of volatile anesthetics, or any other drug we give. You probably had too much IV fluid or (if I had to bet money on it) maybe you had cardiomyopathy because of your pregnancy? - but that doesn't have anything to do with the anesthesia you recieved.
Ouch, dude. But I think that's common practice. That's why it's best to have it done as a baby and there isn't as much nervous tissue down there. For a baby it's just a little clip. For an adult, it's instantaneous pain...which lasts for a while. Don't touch.
it's religion vs science all over again. Why is cutting off the foreskin so important? I had it done against my will because I was 2 days old. My mom didn't even know.
its not religion versus science actually science backs up the pro circumcision argument. the men that were circumcised had less cases of UTIs STDs and bacterial infections as well as less cancer cases. it is the fore skin that is more subceptable to cancer!! also ther eare cases where boys get a "fused foreskin" where the foreskin literally fuses over the urtthra opening at the end of the penis. id rahter have circumcised sons than higher clinic bills due to uinfections!!
that shit is rare, and not really sure what it is but i'm sure you can operate that.
And btw the bullshit claims you made about it being better to be circumcised is not even true, just google and you will find some information. That thing about cancer is just from some old lie bullshit article that was posted around 2002.
The only people who say its better to be circumcised are the ones who had it done to them while they were young and didnt get to choose by themself.
The only reason you approve circumcision is because they stole it from you when you were a child. If you were 30 now and you still had your foreskin you wouldnt remove it.
it's called keeping your penis clean just like you do with a circumsed penis. science also says that a man who is circumcised has less feeling in the head of the penis. Wash your junk!!!
umm ask the other person they brought it up!! they think circumcised people dont have as much pleasure.....but seriously i still think its best to keep the child no matter the procedure for an hour or so if they are put fully under!! my son got his tounge tie fixed they only gassed him numbed the area snipped it then stitched the end so it didint tear further but there are children that are put under fully that get sick after and the drs dont pay attention to the signs!
I'm no doctor but here is my take on this. So a girl has a cold and is put under to get an MRI. Two days later she has a fever and is having trouble breathing. The doctors and symptoms are indicating the Flu and I very seriously doubt that anesthesia gave her the Flu. So what happened? How did she get better? Was she treated for the Flu? How does this woman know that anesthesia caused her daughters illness? Allergic reaction? Seems to me she got the Flu at an inopportune time. Thats it
LADY! You are not a Doctor. I HAVE HAD GENERAL Anaesthesia three times when I was 6 months old, 2 years old, and 3 years old. I haven't croaked YET! I WAS WAY MORE SICK THAN THIS KID. IT IS OKAY TO GET GENERAL Anaesthesia at any age.
I agree. There's not a single professional involved in this video. It's just one woman's story with no evidence that these complications were caused by the anesthesia. Reminds me of Fox News. I think most people who work in health care will agree with us.
The only "allergic reaction" to anesthesia a minute fraction of society might have is called malignant hyperthermia.
technically thats not an allergic reaction because theres no histamine etc release, but then again, neither is nausea/vomiting from morphine, but people call it an allergy anyways.
THIS video is so not true. Anaesthesia can have some mild effects. The cold didn't really have anything to do with it. You are just blaming others for things that could have been prexisting conditions.
If your car/taxi/bike/bus got hit by a bus on the way home, would you blame the anesthesia for that too ?
Anesthesia didn't contribute one iota to the girl's fever.
The worry with cold/flu and anesthesia is that she might have choked while unconscious. Eg she might vomit and then choke, or just have too much phlegm in her nose/throat to breath.
Well I can only assume there was no symptom of choking or hypothermia , or allergy reaction.
Assuming you aren't a doctor, and forgive us if you are, this video and all comments made are based upon opinions, not scientific fact. We recommend consulting with your physician before making any decisions regarding anesthesia.
All I have to say is if you have hypochondria, don't watch this series.

No, it really isn't a little clip. You need to watch a video of it. You'll probably have to stop it after a few seconds. Have a look.
And also - it doesn't need to be done.

No it isn't. Babies usually cannot have them.
There are such things as ALLERGIES.
People can be ALLERGIC to anaesthetics.
You are a dumb idiot.

erlover100 3 years ago
I have NO goal.
Some people are ALLERGIC to them.
Some people DIE.
It sometimes affects the heart if people have anaemia or other blood problems.
Just because YOU were alright, doesn't mean EVERYONE will be alright.
GET IT?

It is far from uncommon to have problems with a general anaesthetic. GOOGLE IT.

It is lovely when people who are in the wrong start talking nonsense. I have never stated I am a doctor, and I am not. This is a lie.
The fact remains - people are allergic to anaesthetics, and people die from them.
Some people are allergic to penicillin, others are fine with it.
This person evidently hasn't even done basic research. He simply here to cause trouble.
ryanramsey 3 years ago 4
i just did a job shadow with an anethesologist. I KNOW THE FACTS!!!!!! You are just trying to scare people.
erlover100 3 years ago
Then you can't be very good at what you do.
Anyone here who wishes to check the dangers of anaesthetics only has to use GOOGLE.
It is very simple. Perhaps this person has a fetish for knocking people out? You've got to wonder!
My aunt on the hand, nearly died aged 18 due to an allergic reaction to general anaesthesia.
GOOGLE it guys.
